Jonelle Sweet #2

Gone Missing

Rate this book
A dead thief.
A missing transgender.
Two different mysteries. And one person has to solve them both.

Jonelle Sweet, newest private detective at Shorter Investigative Services, sets out to crack each case and she knows failure is not an option.
Sally Piedmont believes she sees her dead husband Percy rummaging through her jewelry box under cover of darkness, stealing her jewels, then floating away. As Jonelle explores the twists and turns of Sally’s case, she unearths clues that indicate bigoted son, William, and a nosey and mysterious neighbor, might be involved.
LucieBlu Bonderant, a transgender woman upset at losing a coveted role in a play, vanishes on a seedy Baltimore Street in the early morning hours following a Gay Pride parade. As Jonelle traces LucieBlu’s final steps, she’s pulled into the fascinating worlds of make believe and alternative lifestyles.
While on the surface each case appears vastly different, there are similarities: both projects take a sinister turn, and Jonelle must depend on her instincts or pay the ultimate price.

R. Lanier Clemons has done it again--writing a gem of a whodunit mystery! The second book in the Jonelle Sweet Mystery series, finds our heroine no longer working security at a local college but a full fledged detective employed at her uncle's agency and ready to investigate her first official case--actually, two cases at the same time. Though world's apart in scope, both cases are intriguing and Jonelle is eager to get to work. The first case centers around an elderly lady's missing jewelry and her belief that her dead husband's spirit is up to no good. The other involves a missing person, a transgender actor, who is frustrated by the unjust barrier that keeps her from acquiring the lead roles in community musical productions. A cast of engaging, likeable, and not so likeable characters will keep you guessing throughout the fast-paced, suspenseful read. "Gone Missing" is a well-written story chocked with twists and turns, crisp dialogue, and so entertaining you won't want to put the book down until the final page has been turned.
