A life changing event for me occurred at my college graduation in May of 2003.
National bestselling author, Karen E. Quinones Miller, was the keynote speaker. She delivered a speech about how she had written a book, self-published it and sold so many copies on her own that major publishing houses fought to offer her a deal. I sat amongst my graduating class fully alert and attentive. It was as if Karen was talking directly to me, telling me to bypass trying to get a job in advertising copywriting and follow my true passion of becoming an author.
I was unquestionably inspired and two months after graduation I began writing my first novel, Secret Society. Three months later I had a complete manuscript and was ready to move on to the next step.

I conjured up the nerve to email Karen and let her know that she had motivated me to pursue my goals of being a writer and that I had completed my first book. I asked her for tips on self-publishing. She simply told me to let self-publishing be my last resort and that I should first seek a publishing deal. I took her advice and researched the ways to go about submitting a manuscript. I sent a query letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters of my book to Teri Woods Publishing. Teri Woods was known for publishing urban novels and thus I figured she would be interested in Secret Society. Teri Woods was not only interested, but wanted to buy my book outright and on top of that offer me a five-book deal. I was astonished. The only thing I had to do was write a second book to prove to Teri that I could produce.

I wrote Diary of a Mistress and shortly thereafter I was poised to go to New York to sign a deal with Teri Woods. I was excited and anxious, yet nervous. I was new to the publishing industry and I wasn't sure what the contract should look like, what type of deal was appropriate and most of all if selling my book outright was a smart thing to do. Once again, I conjured up the nerve to email Karen. That time she responded by telling me to call her and her telephone number was in the body of the email. She advised me not to sell my book outright and that I needed someone knowledgeable to attend the meeting with me. After realizing that her own schedule wouldn't permit her to accompany me, she took a chance and asked her agent to do so. Liza Dawson, Karen's agent, agreed to read my manuscripts over the weekend and let me know Monday whether or not she would be willing to represent me. I immediately emailed both manuscripts to Karen and Liza.

The next day I got a call from Liza telling me how good of a writer I was and offering to be my agent. I accepted and the next thing I knew, I had three major publishing houses interested in signing me. Teri Woods was notified of this and was asked for her bid. By Monday, an auction was held. Simon and Schuster was the highest bidder offering a six-figure advance and a two-book deal far exceeding my expectations as a new, unpublished author. I was in awe. Everything that has happened from then on has been a joyride. I am living my dreams and it is with thanks to Karen E. Quinones Miller. I often wonder what I would be doing or where I would be had it not been for Karen's speech those few years ago. There's no telling. But I know for sure that I am grateful that she told her story because it was truly the beginning of the success I enjoy today. Now, I feel it is my obligation to pass it on.

I am available to do speaking engagements and motivational talks at community centers, schools, group homes, prisons, outreach programs, shelters, etc. My goal is to reach as many people as I can and make a difference in the lives of others. I firmly believe To whom much is given, much is expected and indeed I have been given much.

This picked right up where Secret Society left off. One would think that after everything Celess went through, she would at least get her life right and stop trying to run game. No matter what Celess had going on it seemed as if she couldn't get right. From the harsh reality of knowing she'd never please her mother to her secret being revealed. Things began spiraling out of control and Celess kept digging herself into a much deeper hole. She made her transformation complete but didn't always make the best decisions when faced with certain situations. Meeting Si-Si helped a lot but at the same time more drama was included. O was wrong for what he did and should've went about handling things differently. I couldn't believe Jay would introduce Celess to the unthinkable and she continued to use it as seen escape mechanism. As for Michael, yeah he said some hurtful things but it was good he was able to get an understanding and closure for what Celess put him through. I was wondering what Si-Si could possibly be hiding. Her past came at them full force. No matter what was thrown at Celess and Si-Si they couldn't get a break. It seemed the more they tried to succeed it was never enough because the past is bound to catch up and complicate things.

This book was just okay for me. Secret Society was a much better read. I read it in three hours and found it to be boring up until her secret was revealed, which was predictable of course. I felt that Si-Si picked up where Tina had left off before she turned her life around and it was back to a doomed duo. There was too much name dropping and shopping in this book for me. There was more focus on the life that surrounded Celess than on her life itself. Celess learned nothing from what happened in her past and it was annoying not to get some kind of relief that perhaps she'll change. I never feel sorry for her, because everything she does she brings on herself. I'd really like her character to grow. I'm really hoping that the next part is much better, because i'm slightly dissapointed. Also knowing so much about trangenders myself from massive research I had to pause at words such as "transformations" and "tranny" because those words arent used in their community. I really like Miasha, but this wasn't the book for me.

The readers asked for this one!!! Never Enough (Secret Society 2) was one of the most anticipated novels in urban lit history!!

I simply gave them what they were begging for...and I must say I delivered. The twist in this sequel left my fans and readers even thirstier for a third installment...Thanks to pairing Celess, the main character, up with another vixen who turns out to be someone my readers never expected but graciously accepted.

This was a hit!!! But remember, read this after you've read, Secret Society & Sistah for Sale...

Never enough

Celess' story continues & once she gets going, she doesn't stop. This time she has had a surgery so she's now a female. No more hiding. Then she hooks up with a girl because of course she needs a sidekick. Sisi is ready to jump right in & do whatever for the money as well. And Celess, still can't get away from drama. How will these two end up?

This is one Explosive Series excellent story line. I read book one in the series about 2 years ago wow, let me say it was so good and the movie was on point. In this book 2 it was good but I must say really miss Tina and O. There were so differences between the book and movie I really enjoy this series a must read and watch.

Saw the movies first which was a big mistake, nothing like the movie for the most part. I was let down. Even if I'd read the book 1st the movie would've been a let down. Genuinely thought the movie was good until I read the book .

In a lot of ways this novel was better then it's prequel but I do have to say that I am disappointed that Celess didn't seem to learn much of anything after all she has been through. After her best friend was shot to death and Celess was shot in the head at close range after being found out in part one, we find her yet again knocking on death's door and when she pulls through she doesn't become a better person. All she did was learn to hide her secret better by getting tons of plastic surgery, she continues to sleep with men for personal gain, she becomes a drug addict, and she never once was honest with the men she was sexual with. It is hard for me to connect with her character, feel sorry for her, or want good things for her when she continues to deceive and hurt people. I am not talking about the general public, I am talking about the men she sexually entertains without revealing the fact that she is a man. Like the first novel, this one is also very unrealistic in regards to her sleeping around so much yet not ONE of her partners have the slightest inkling that something is different about her then other women. With all that said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new character Si Si. She is my favorite part of this book and I knew from the get go that she definitely had some secrets of her own. Without her, I don't know if I would have even finished this book. This novel felt rushed and was not very detailed. In the turn of a page three weeks sometimes passed but the light of this book always shined when Si Si came around. We are left with a cliff hanger on the very last page and I must say that I hope part 3 is all about Si Si aka Sienna.

I have to say I loved this book second book I read by Miasha makes me want to get more of ther other books. Celess was a man trapped in a womans body that have been throw hell and back. Getting the nervous to change her life by getting her sex change and starting over sleeping her way up to the top. She had her pass following her as she got up to Hollywood and became well know. She found her best friend side kick Si Si how also had problems of her own as they find in each other sleeping there way up to the top to make ends meat. Overall this book was great. My month dropped at the end leaving me in aw at how it ended. Hoping to read more eye popping month dropping books by Miasha.

It looks like there will be a third...woopty doo..I heard such good reviews and I must say I wasn't impressed. I was looking forward to hearing Si Si's story and heard nothing. The whole book I wanted to know about her and yet I heard only a couple of sentences at the end.I hate to be strung along..

Great sequel to Secret Society and Miasha left this open for a third book about Celess. in this she met a new best friend and during this time learned some pretty big secrets about her friends past. Typical Miasha- great urban lit read!

This book is amazing but you have to read the original book called Secret Society. Both are mind blowers. The twist in Secret Society is one you would never think of. I couldn't put this one down either.

This book was okay. But it's was so predictable and that annoyed me a little. I like to be shocked when I turn the page every now and then. It's was a decent read, but not my favorite. Overall, I did like the way the author writes. It Seemed to me like Si-Si was the one doing the schooling...

I liked this follow-up to Secret Society. Instead of it being Celess and Tina, it's now Celess and Sienna. Poor Celess is always getting caught up in some mess. I can't wait to find out what she's going to get into in Rome.

I only read this book because I read the first one. It was ok, but just as boring as the first one. Too drama filled.

I liked this book because I love drama. But it ended horribly. I was very disappointed. I expect to see another book about these characters because she just left me hanging at the end.
