I can't quite bring myself to DNF this, but at the same time, I can't continue either.

The heroine, Sunny, is a vegan yoga enthusiast that doesn't swear. What the fuck kind of fucking person doesn't fucking swear? Just kidding. Kinda. But really, I really don't know anyone past the age of 5 that uses the word "doody". I mean, shit! I know it's supposed to make her quirky, but really it just annoyed me. I didn't find her to be endearing at all. Her treatment of the hero bothered me to no end. I understand the man has quite the manwhoring past, but he's clearly trying, and getting nothing but judgmental jumping to conclusion and callous treatment for his efforts. She never defends him, always taking the other person's side. I just couldn't.

That and I couldn't quite get the dynamic of Miller and his sister's relationship. Now I'm an only child, but I don't think that if I have a brother I'd be discussing my sexual escapades with him; like my finance's monster cock, my "leakiness" problems, and my brother's orgasm hat trick with my finance's sister.

Also, the humor wasn't for me. It read like it was trying too hard. I loved some parts of it, but some were just way too cheesy. Though I think I can move past all of that, if I at least liked the heroine. This may be a case of not being in quite the right mood for this book, so I'm pausing it for the time being in hopes of coming back to it at a later time when I'm in a more forgiving mood.

Pucked Up is the second book in Helena’s Pucked series and is all about Violet’s Yeti step-brother Miller ‘Buck’ Butterson and Alex’s sister Sunny Sunshine. They make an unlikely pair but… I actually really loved them together! Hunting writes with such humor- you can’t help but laugh out loud multiple times while reading these books!

Miller is one of those characters that I loved from the first book. I was excited to read this one. Sunshine and Miler's relationship had some rocky moments. The trust was never there at the beginning, and that may be partly Miller's fault. Miller never did anything wrong necessarily, but he was ALWAYS putting himself in situations that made him look bad. He’s not a bad guy. He really cares about Sunny and is admit about being faithful to her. Sunny was a fun heroine, but a few things about her irked me That camping trip with her ex… ugh! And never really letting Miller explain things. I get it, but come on!. By the end, things had changed with them both and I couldn't have been happier.

I truly loved seeing Buck and Violet together and their relationship. I think it’s sweet and special. Fans of Pucked will be happy with the amount of Violet and Alex in this book!

This book is completely from Miller’s POV. I think the author did a great job writing from the male POV. Overall, it was enjoyable, entertaining, funny, steamy and sweet! I liked this one lots and I’m looking forward to reading the next one!

It's been so long since I read just for the sheer pleasure and not because I had to for the blog.
Don't get me wrong, I very much love blogging and I am thankful for all the wonderful arcs I have received over the years.
It's just nice not to have the stress of a deadline and having to write a review.

I have loved the "Pucked" series since I first picked up Randy's story.
Yes. I read this one all out of order but it didn't hinder my love for this series in any way.

I wasn't really thrilled in the beginning of this one because Miller has never really piqued my interest but after a while I found him to be endearing and I really loved the relationship he and Vi have.

It was also nice to have some more time with my favorite -- Alex Waters!! 💖💖💖💖💖

This truly is the best sports romance series about NHL Hockey players!

First off this book is hilarious and made me laugh out loud multiple times. It also gave me severe anxiety because Miller always seemed to be putting himself in the wrong situation at the wrong time. He was just a magnet for bad timing and I was always a nervous about what would happen next. I am not a huge fan of angst, but was unable to put this down because I needed to know what would happen next!

We first meet Miller and from the first few pages I knew this guy was going to make me a little crazy. No matter where Miller goes trouble seems to find him. Up until now has never shied away from the attention he receives from the ladies and I knew this would be an issue. Especially since we quickly learn that Miller is trying to turn over a new leaf for Sunny, his teammates sister.

Sunny is well versed in the life of an NHL player and is aware of all the temptation, watching her brother endure it. So she is incredibly skeptic of Miller and his intentions. But when he continues to show her he has changed and only wants her she begins to let him in, but not completely.

Miller and Sunny are perfect for each other, but both have a lot of things to overcome and lessons to learn. I really enjoyed how this story turned out to be more than I expected. I was thinking it would be just a hot sport romance and obviously funny, but it actually had a lot of of heart, too.



There were some moments I could have done without and times I wish things had been a done differently, but overall I really enjoyed this read! I definitely recommend it and can’t wait to read more in the series. If you are a fan of sports romances, hilarious laugh out loud books, and sexy as sin books pick up Pucked Up.

Pucked Up is the second book in the Pucked Series, but can be read as a stand alone since they feature different couples.

This was an ok book for me,even though I was so excited to read it I can't say that I enjoyed it a lot!I tried to connect with the characters but I couldn't .Especially with Sunny the main heroine.Sunny it's not one of my favorite heroines, she was getting on my nerves most of the times.Buck was much better from Sunny,I liked him.He was trying to get himself out from situations that it was supposed to be funny...Sadly I can't say that I found it very funny..I feel so bad..Hopefully my next book from this author will be better!!

Alex wasn’t even the main dude in this book but I hated him even more than I did in pucked. Not only does he full on disrespect his sister but he also disrespects his fiancé Violet over and over again.
He’s not protective. He’s obsessed and it’s weird.
Now Miller was cute and I liked how interested he was in charity and helping people but wow zero effort put into maybe getting ppl to respect his privacy.
Sunny’s concern was very much realistic and understandable.
Now what I don’t understand is the focus of all these hockey romance books on the crotch area?
One has a crotch strain, one gf make a hat and caps for her bf’s dick (fuckin weird) and now this dude gets bitten by a spider?????
Okay.

Then there’s yet again the weird name calling. Cookie… COOKIE???? And obviously beaver 🦫.
I don’t even know what to say about that.
The slut shaming is yet again very much 2015 and the “not like other girls” as well.

I did enjoy Sunny’s and Miller’s cute buildup moments to the relationship but that was probably it.

The heroine: Sunshine Waters (a.k.a. Sunny) - sister to Alex Waters (Pucked, #1). Sunny is a good girl and not a puck bunny. She lives in Guelph, Ontario.

The Hero(es): Miller Butterson (a.k.a. Buck) - NHL Hockey player. He plays for Chicago and they won the Stanley Cup last year. Miller is a recovering playboy since he met Sunny.

The Story: Buck was a player and a partier and though he is reforming since the night he met Sunny and found he actually wanted to talk to her more than he wanted to sleep with her. Now he is dating her and has flown to Guelph a few times to spend time with her.

I really liked this story. It was utterly enjoyable, both sweet and sexy and I laughed out loud quite a few times. It was told solely from Buck’s point of view and the narrator had the perfect voice for this guy. His voice was deep when necessary, obtuse sounding in all the right places and deadpan when he said the funniest things. I loved it.

The book opened showing Buck as a drunken lout. He seemed like the gross fraternity brother who didn’t care about anyone but himself. However, the more we see of him the more he grows on you until you just can’t help but love him.

Sunny has a hard time dealing with his celebrity and how Miller was always showing up in social media pictures with scantily clad puck bunnies. As the two become closer it is easy to see their issues from both sides, since Buck really wasn’t doing anything wrong, but he always ended up in the most compromising pictures.

And lastly, Pucked UP has one of the most lovable hero that can make your hearts flutter with his honesty and big heart. This second book bring us the book of Buck and Sunny. For the first time Buck is decided to have the girl and everything associated with that, but his past and public image are making it harder for him.
Sunny doesn’t want to fall in love with Buck, he’s too wild for her and she doesn’t trust easily, but when she can’t control her feelings anymore and Buck doesn’t stop chasing, will her let go of her fears or give into temptation?




Despite this being a sexy and entertaining book, with sweet and some really funny moments, unfortunately I didn’t like it as much as the first one.
Too much useless drama and misunderstandings. Buck always seemed to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and that always led to some drama.
However, if you like the first one or if you like books with some hot hockey players, this sexy and easy flowing book will definitely be a nice choice.



Rating: 3,5 Stars.
Characters Development: Buck was nice. But his lack of self-awareness annoyed me a little. So did Sunny, except that she annoyed me quite a lot until towards the end. They were cute together and sexy, I just wish the amount of misunderstandings between them were a little shorter.

CHAPTER ONE

WASTED IS AS WASTED DOES

I’m super wasted. Like, messed up to the point that Lance, my teammate, has two sets of eyes.
“I’mma go home.” In my head those are the words I’m speaking, but in reality I think it comes out more like a groan. I take an unstable step toward the line of waiting cabs outside the bar.
Lance puts a hand on my shoulder, his grin sloppy. He’s almost as drunk as me. “Your car’s at my place, Butterson. Come back with us.”
“I can get it in the morning.” My words run together, but he seems to understand.
“Just get in the limo, man.” Lance looks to Randy, another teammate and one of my closest childhood friends, for backup.
“The trainer’ll be at Lance’s at ten-thirty, remember?” Randy says. “You can roll out of bed and right into the pool.”
“Then I don’t have to call you fifty times to get your ass up,” Lance adds.
“Come back with us, Buck!”
One of Lance’s puck bunnies uses the nickname I’ve answered to since I was a kid. My real name is Miller. I wasn’t named after beer. Plus Buck Butterson has a nicer ring than Miller Butterson—too many “ers” in it.
The three girls Lance has convinced to come back to his place are fixing each other’s hair and messing with each other’s makeup while I debate making bad choices.
Lance smiles—all horny bastard—and pats me on the back. “Come on, man, you’re gonna be away for a couple weeks. Last chance to party it up.”
I mumble something even I can’t understand and lean on the limo so I don’t have to hold my own weight. The shooters were a bad idea. There were too many. I might have paid for them.
I wait while the girls get in the limo. As drunk as I am, I still have a few manners left. The last one bends over, and her micro-mini rides up, giving me a full shot of naked beaver before she sits down. I’m definitely not getting in beside her.
Lance elbows me in the arm. “Get in, Buck.”
“You first. They’re your bunnies.”
Going back to Lance’s is not a good plan, but I’ve already said I would, and he has a point about my car being at his place.
He shrugs and holds on to the door frame, sticking his head inside. “Whose lap am I sitting on?” He throws himself into the limo.
The girls squeal, and laughter follows.
I put a hand on Randy’s chest to stop him before he gets in, too. “Don’t let me do anything stupid, ’kay, man?”
“Don’t worry, Miller. I’ll take on two if I have to.” He winks, but he’s serious.
Randy’s one of the few people who uses my real name, aside from my dad when he’s pissed. Growing up in Chicago, he lived down the street from me. We’ve played hockey together since we both learned how to skate. When we were drafted to the NHL in our first semester of college, we ended up on different teams. Five years later, we’re back on the same team again, Randy having been traded to Chicago after the season ended. Being off season, it took him all of two weeks to move back. It’s good to have him here. We’ve stayed tight over the years; if anyone is going to help keep me from fucking shit up, it’s him.
Randy gets into the limo and sits between two of the girls. This leaves the bench seat wide open for me. I slide in and stretch out, taking up the entire thing.
Lance already has his arm around Flash Beaver, and her friend in the middle seems like she’s not sure what to do. When she makes a move to sit with me, Lance hugs her to his side and whispers something in her ear. Her eyes widen, and she bites her lip, but she stays where she is.
Going home in a cab by myself would’ve been the smarter move. Then I wouldn’t be facing unnecessary temptation. Sometimes it’s hard as fuck to make the right choices, like removing myself from a situation in which bunnies will inevitably offer up pussy that I’ll have to turn down.
It’s not that I can’t go without. I’ve just been choosing the alternative for the past five years. And quitting cold turkey has been way more difficult than I ever expected. Lance and Flash Beaver have turned toward the corner of the limo now. I’m pretty sure he’s got his hand up her skirt already, judging by the giggle followed by a moan. I close my eyes and lean against the armrest. I’m tired. And hungry. I need pizza.
I root around in my pocket for my phone. I have messages: a couple of texts and a voice mail from my sister, Violet, and a few more from my girlfriend, Sunny. Well, she’s kinda my girlfriend. I want her to be my girlfriend. Sunny’s the reason Randy—or maybe Lance—is taking one for the team, and I’m sitting over here by myself.
I’ve been doing everything I can to move things in the girlfriend direction for the last few months, but Sunny’s hard to pin down. Way worse than me, but not in a slutty way. Sunny’s the opposite of slutty. She’s not as easily charmed by me as most women. I actually have to work to get her to date me.
It doesn’t help that her brother, Alex Waters, is one of my teammates. He’s also engaged to my sister, and he’s captain of the team. Waters hates me. It’s complicated. The first night I met Sunny, I considered—for half a second—sleeping with her to get back at him. I’m a player, not an asshole. Besides Sunny wasn’t interested in getting naked with me. She actually wanted to talk. And I liked her. So I got her number instead. That was months ago. She still won’t sleep with me. Yet. I’m hoping to change that soon.
I try to read my text messages, but my vision is blurry, and the words all jumble together—even worse than usual. I can’t use the text-to-speech app in here like I normally would because the music’s too loud and everyone will hear my business. Plus sometimes my sister’s messages are assholey. She has no filter. At all.
“I’m hungry. Anyone else hungry?” I yell over the music.
Lance is too busy sucking face, but Randy raises his hand. The girls on either side of him shrug. The one stuck in the middle of everything looks like she’d rather be anywhere but here.
I pull up Siri and ask her to call my favorite pizza joint. It takes a few tries to get her to do what I want, partly because I’m slurring my words and partly because the music interferes. Finally someone turns it down so I’m able to put an order in.
“Is the address five-two-one or two-five-one?” I ask Randy when they get to that part of the ordering process.
“Five-two-one.”
“You’re sure it’s not two-five-one?”
Lance takes a break from sucking the chick’s face off to get on my case. “You’ve been at my house a million times, and you still can’t get the address right?”
I flip him the bird. “I’m dyslexic and drunk, but thanks for being an asshole about it.” I probably shouldn’t have said that. It’s not something I usually talk about in front of bunnies. It’s frustrating to be twenty-three and shitty at reading. I give the pizza guy the right address. Then I end the call and slip my phone back into my pocket.
Ten minutes later, we pull into Lance’s driveway. I’m the first out of the car, and I practically fall up the steps to his door. I use the doorjamb for support while I wait for everyone else. I should know the code to get into the house, but I always forget it.
Lance and Flash Beaver are last to get out of the limo. True to her name, she gives us all a beaver shot—my second of the limo trip—as she slides across the bench. When her feet hit the ground, Lance steps in front of her, blocking her from view. He leans down to adjust her skirt, which is nice. When he’s in a mood, he’ll let girls makes fools out of themselves and laugh about it later. He can be a dick sometimes.
Her friends are giggling and whispering, being bitchy and judgy. Well, the one who was sidled up to Randy is; the other one looks uncomfortable. Of the three girls Randy and Lance picked up tonight, she seems the most reserved. Maybe she’s not all that excited about sharing a dick.
“You’re the best, man. Have I told you that lately?” I ask Randy, while I rest my head on the closed door and attempt to hit the doorbell. I keep missing it.
“That’s what the girls tell me.”
I scoff and aim for the doorbell again, hitting it this time. The tone is actually a line from a movie. I can’t quite remember which one, but it’s funny, so I keep punching it until Lance and Flash Beaver finally make it to the door.
Lance keys in the code. “I don’t think that’s a good place to stand, Butterson.”
“I’m fine.” My eyes are closed. I’m feeling like bed might be a nice place to be. Screw the pizza.
His meaning doesn’t register until the door gives way. I put my hands up to grab for the jambs, but I’m not quick enough. I fall face first into his front foyer. The hardwood floor doesn’t make it a soft landing.
I grunt on impact, and one of the girls rushes over to help me while Lance laughs his ass off. I tell her I’m fine and lie there for a few seconds before I roll over onto my back. Flash Beaver gets me again. I can see right up her skirt from the floor. It’s like a loose meat sandwich up in there. I’ve seen more beaver in the last thirty minutes than I have since I started trying to date Sunny.
Randy puts a hand out to help me up.
I wave him off. “I’ll stay here until the pizza arrives, yeah?”
“That could take a while. Let’s get you a couch.” I take his hand, but make no effort to help with the whole standing-up business. When he’s about to give up, I yank his arm and he ends up on the floor with me. I put him in a headlock.
He scrambles to get out, but he’s drunk too, and I have the element of surprise. “Fuck you, asshole,” he tells me.
“Oh my God!” One of the girls screams while we wrestle on the floor like idiots. “Are they seriously fighting? Shouldn’t you stop them?”
“They’re fine.” Lance puts a hand on two of the ladies’ lower backs. “Come on. Let’s get some drinks and hit the hot tub.”
Randy elbows me in the side, and I let him go. He rolls over and pops up, weaving as he follows Lance and the bunnies. It’s a lot of work to get my ass off the floor, but I manage. I slide-walk down the hall with my shoulder against the wall to stop from falling over again.
I need water—and that horrible drink my trainer, Natasha, gives me when I’m hungover. But Lance’s kitchen is way far away. I stumble into the massive living room and over to the unoccupied couch. When my knees hit the arm, I fall forward like a tree. My aim is bad, and I’m on an angle, so I roll off and smack my head on the coffee table.
“Ow! Fuck!” There isn’t enough space for me to turn onto my back, so I lie there instead, wedged between the couch and the coffee table.
Lance laughs. “You all right, Butterson?”
“There’s a spent condom under here.”
“Oh yeah? Wanna get that for me.”
“Pretty sure I don’t.” It’s covered in dust, but I can tell it’s red—so he definitely got it from me. Or maybe I’m the one who used it. I have no idea. I always order the assorted rainbow pack that comes with the big container of lube.
I’ve nicknamed the condoms according to color: red is for devil dick, green is the green giant, blue is for smurf cock, and the black is the sledgehammer. I’m not a fan of the yellow ones; they look less banana-y and more like my dick has jaundice. My personal faves are the glow-in-the-dark ones, which make my dick look like a big glow stick.
“You gonna lie on the floor, or are you coming outside to hang in the hot tub?”
“I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
“Whatever you say, Butterson. But if you fall asleep there, I’m not waking your ass up.”
“That’s fine.”
I watch pointy heels teetering toward the patio doors.
“I don’t have a bathing suit,” says Flash Beaver.
Lance puts an arm around her waist, his hand settling on her ass. “Who needs bathing suits?”
Loud music blasts through the house and the outdoor speakers. I hear a distant splash and a scream. Someone got thrown in the pool. I lay with my cheek mashed against the floor, staring at the dusty condom, wishing I’d gone home instead of coming here. I must pass out like that, because the next thing I know, the doorbell’s ringing. It takes me three tries to get up. Then the door isn’t staying still, so it’s hard to get to.
I pay the pizza guy with my credit card and take the boxes and six-pack of soda. I don’t bother to call the other guys. If I know Lance, he’s got those girls down to their bras and underwear—except for the one who wasn’t wearing any in the first place.
I take the pizza over to the coffee table, crack a soda, and chug it. I need to hydrate so I don’t puke like a pussy during tomorrow’s training session. Water would be better, but I’m already sitting down. Before I dig in, I take off my pants. I’m not worried about spilling food on them; I’m just tired of wearing jeans. I also like the freedom from clothes. I run hot, so it’s nice when I can strip down to the bare essentials, which is often nothing.
Since I’m not in my own house, I keep the boxers and T-shirt on. I don’t normally do underwear, but clubs are hot. They make my balls stick to my leg otherwise. I get comfortable on the couch. It’s white leather, which is a stupid color choice, but whatever. I flip open the pizza box, groaning at the sight of melted cheese and piles of meaty awesomeness.
When Sunny and I order pizza, there isn’t even cheese. She doesn’t eat anything with a face, or that came from something with a face. I don’t think I could live without cow in my life, but that’s me.
As I tear a slice free, the cheese clings to his brothers like he’s terrified of his fate. I lean over the box—I’m too lazy to go to the kitchen and get a plate—and take a huge bite. It’s hot. Like, out-of-the-oven hot, which is crazy because it’s clearly not just out of the oven. If I was less drunk, I might have paid attention to the puff of steam when I tore out the first slice, but I’m in too much of a hurry to get food in my belly.
The cheese scalds the roof of my mouth and strings settle on my chin, burning that, too. I drop the slice, half of it drooping over the edge of the box onto the coffee table and the most recent edition of The Hockey News. Cracking another soda, I chug half the can to cool my mouth. I suck at life tonight.
While I wait for the pizza to cool, I search for the remote. It’s not on the coffee table or under the pizza box. I find it stuck between the couch cushions along with a pair of panties. I leave those where they are.
Two in the morning doesn’t boast much in the way of quality programming. Other than infomercials and porn, I have a choice between sports highlights and old sitcoms or the music video channel. I flip aimlessly, pausing at some bad porn. I doubt I’ll have the energy to whack off later. I might be drunk enough to have whiskey dick, even though I don’t drink whiskey.
I settle on the music video channel and get back to the pizza, which is now cool enough to eat. I devour half the box and nod off on the couch. The only reason I wake up is because my phone rings. It’s in my pants, which are on the floor about twenty feet away, so I miss the call. I decide I’d rather sleep in a bed than on Lance’s couch. I’ve crashed here enough times since I was traded mid-season to have a room I call dibs on when I get too wasted to take my ass home.
I have no idea if Lance and Randy are still outside with the girls. If they are, there’s a good chance that hot tub is going to need a serious cleaning tomorrow. I almost trip over my pants on the way upstairs. I drag them with me to the second floor and crash into the spare bedroom.
Kicking the door closed, I pull my shirt over my head, drop my boxers, and fall face down on the mattress. Music still pounds through the speakers outside, making the whole house vibrate. It’s not pop anymore; it’s some cheesy love ballad from the eighties. It sounds like something Sunny would like.
Thinking about her makes my dick excited, which sucks because I don’t have the coordination to do anything about it. I hate that she doesn’t live closer. Canada isn’t that far from Chicago, but it’s enough distance that it makes this whole dating thing that much harder.
I want to call her. I know it’s a bad idea. I’m drunk, and she’s probably asleep, considering it’s after two in the morning. Or maybe it’s already five. I can’t read the clock. My logic filter isn’t working, so I feel around for my pants. They’re on the floor. I almost fall out of bed trying to get them. I dig the phone out of the pocket. The battery reads nine percent. It’s enough for a quick call. It’ll probably go to voice mail anyway.
As predicted, it rings four times, and I get her message.

“You’ve reached Sunshine Waters. I’m probably busy cleansing my chi, but when I’m done I’ll give you a dingle. Remember, karma is your friend!”

I hang up without leaving a message and call again. I get voice mail a second time. On the third try, she picks up.
“Hello?” Her voice is raspy with sleep. It’s similar to how she sounds when she comes. I’ve only been able to do that with my fingers so far. Sunny wants to take things slow. I need to get control of the puck before I can score my favorite kind of goal.
“Hey, sweets. Did I wake you?” It’s a stupid question. Of course I woke her; I called three times in the middle of the night.
“Miller?”
“I’m sorry. It’s late isn’t it?” I roll over onto my back and starfish, letting my balls breathe. The rustle of sheets filters through the phone. I imagine what she might be wearing based on our late-night Skype chats. She’s a baggy-shirt-and-shorts girl. Sometimes she wears one of those sheer shirts so it’s like she’s naked, but not. Sadly, she always wears a sports bra with it. Those things are the worst invention in the world. They ruin perfectly good cleavage.
“What time is it?”
“Uh,” I squint at the clock on the nightstand, as if that’s going to make it easier to read the numbers. I’m better with analog clocks than digital ones. “Pretty early.”
“In the morning?”
“Yeah.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah.”
There’s a long pause in which neither of us speaks. “Were you out with the boys tonight?”
“Yeah.”
The softness in her voice is replaced by sharpness. “Who?”
“The usual. Randy Ballistic and Lance Romero. A few of the other guys showed up later.”
“So you’re drunk?”
I knew I shouldn’t have called. I wish I had someone around to stop me from doing stupid shit all the time. At least Randy kept the bunnies occupied and away from me. Most of the time Lance isn’t much help. He encourages bad decision-making.
“I had a few drinks. I wanted to hear your voice.” It sounds like a line, but it’s not. I really do want to hear her voice, even if that makes me seem whipped.
She makes a little noise, like maybe she’s stretching or trying to get comfortable. It goes straight to my dick, inflating it like a helium balloon.
“That’s sweet, Miller,” she says on a sigh. I love that she uses my real name instead of my nickname. “But don’t you think it would be better to call when you’re sober and it’s not the middle of the night? You interrupted a nice dream.”
“What kind of dream? Was it a sex dream?”
“I’m not telling you.”
“It was, wasn’t it?”
“I’m not saying anything.”
“It’ll be a million times better when you let me get you naked in real life.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Butterson.”
“I’m just sayin’, when you let it happen, it’s gonna be awesome times a billion.”

This is not a bad book, I am just not connecting to the heroine at all, and I feel at this point in the book I should know a bit more about her other than that she is a vegan.

I loved book 1 a lot, it was funny and I loved all of the characters including Buck. Unfortunately the Buck in this story feels different and the humour is not amusing me.

I would like to go back to it at some point but at the moment it's on hold.

This was a funny, light hockey-player romance with Sunny, sister of Alex from book one, and Miller, stepbrother of Violet from book one. Once again, we see social media take down a former bad boy’s efforts to reform his ways and all the drama that ensues. I really liked the way this included a hero with a learning disability and characters with serious medical issues. A fun read perfect for when you’re in the mood for something light and snarky.

Another quick paced and laugh out loud funny read from Helena Hunting! Pucked Up had me in stitches.

In book 2 of the series, Miller and Sunny's relationship progresses from the just friends category to more than friends. As expected, her brother is not at all pleased about this development and the shenanigans ensue.

Here's the breakdown: Miller's manwhore ways catch up to him in the worst possible way. He's finally fallen for a super sweet woman who he's unbelievably attracted too. Unfortunately, his past experiences with multiple puck bunnies tarnishes his reputation in the press and with teammate, who just happens to be Sunny's brother.

What I enjoyed: I really enjoyed Miller's character development. To see him go from uncommitted manwhore to a sweet caring boyfriend was great. While he made several key mistakes along the way, the fact that he showed Sunny how much he cared really endeared him to me.
I also particularly enjoyed the setup for the next story. I'm looking forward to see how Randy and Lily's story plays out. I think Randy may give Lance a run for his money as my favorite.
The emotional aspect brought about by Miller's foundation sponsoring sick children for hockey camp was really great to see. I also enjoyed the fact that he isn't perfect and had to deal with a slight issue himself.

Although I enjoyed this audiobook, I have to say Sunny worked my nerves a little bit. Her indecision and need to listen to everyone around her except Miller was not the best. LOL Luckily, they persevered.
Overall, a quick fun and funny read!

Audiobook Review: The audio version is narrated by Joe Arden. I enjoyed the narration, though I had to speed it up a bit. This has no reflection on the author of production, but rather my need to have the narration match my natural reading speed. I'd recommend the audiobook.

I have to say this one didn't grab me at all like Pucked. I liked Miller okay but didn't like Sunny at all and couldn't root for them to be together. I found her too immature, whiny, judgmental, and manipulative. She played victim all the time, running to her friends or brother when things got bad, and expected Miller to chase after her when she got her feelings hurt. I was actually happy when he finally walked away and wish he would have met someone else during that time. I felt no chemistry between them and really couldn't understand Miller's attraction to her beyond her looks.

The storyline was decent but the focus remained 85% on Miller and Sunny with Miller constantly having to jump through hoops to prove he's serious about her. I enjoyed it the most towards the end when Miller is getting himself together career wise and dealing with his life without worrying about Sunny's precious always hurt feelings.

When first meeting the NHL hockey player Miller “Buck” Butterson in Pucked, I have to admit, I really didn’t think much of him. Then again, I was judging him from Violet’s point of view. All his Yeti-ness gave me a douchey, man-slut, puck-bunny banger vibe. But, falling for his teammate’s sister changed Buck and I never thought I would come to love him more than Alex, but it’s true.



The real Miller was so much more than the hairy, knucklehead party boy his stepsister Vi painted him to be. He was swoon-worthy sexy, genuinely sweet and totally sincere. Yet, Miller seemed somewhat insecure despite his cocky attitude. When his feelings for Sunshine (Alex’s sister who we briefly met in Pucked) became serious, Miller was smitten and totally committed to building their relationship. But, living the star athlete lifestyle, parties and one-night-stands with hockey groupies are all he knows. So being clueless and having virtually no experience with relationships, Miller is at a loss and manages to get himself into trouble… a shitload of trouble… and often. Severely lacking common sense and good judgment, his crazy antics – from drunken social media postings and dickpics going viral to spider bites swelling his his balls – Miller manages to hurt poor Sunny’s feelings. Nevertheless, his hijinks had me in fits of laughter; I couldn’t control myself, because he was one funny bastard. The thoughts that swirled around in his crazy mind were ridiculously comical. However, in all seriousness, I fell in love with him as his character grew and matured from a total player to a caring, loving and devoted man.

Sunshine was an adorably sweet hippie type of girl who had an aura of innocence about her. Not fully trusting Miller’s sincerity, Sunny had doubts about their relationship. I couldn’t fault her, he did have a terrible playboy reputation. Besides, he got himself involved in utterly stupid situations that put him in a bad light, regardless if most were out of his control. However, she had the tendency to listen to everyone's opinion, rather than her own heart, which caused her to make silly mistakes that added angst within the story line. Miller’s heart belonged to Sunny, and all comedy aside, he truly loved her and bent over backwards to show just how much he cared for her.

Fans of Pucked will be happy (I know I was) to see Violet, in all her sarcastic and snarky glory as well as Alex (Mr. “MC” himself), popping in and out of the story line. Vi is loonier than ever, but Alex surprisingly annoyed me. He was a little harsh and too judgmental towards poor Miller. They buck (no pun intended) heads often, which added drama to everyone’s life. After all, Sunshine is Alex’s little sister, so he was a wee bit overprotective when it comes to Miller possibly screwing her over. Regardless…I still love Alex aside from his overbearing ways.

I really liked seeing more interaction between Miller and Vi and having better insight into their relationship. They share a special bond and he adores her in a strictly sisterly kind of way. There were times they over shared, which added another layer of hysterics to the story. They are truly two insane characters. As crazy as Vi can be, she is the voice of reason and supports Miller by giving him advice, and guiding him to become the man that Sunshine needed.

Written entirely from Miller’s point of view, Helena Hunting’s Pucked Up was the funniest romantic comedy I’ve come across this year. Once I jumped in, I could tear myself away. Can't even express how funny some of the scenes were in this read. Tears were streaming from my eyes...doubled over in fits of uncontrollable laughter. It's a fan-fucking-tastic series and a must read if you’re in the mood for light-hearted sweet love stories that will bring you to the brink of sidesplitting hilarity. Looking forward to more hot and hilarious hockey players – bring on Lance and Randy’s romances!

This was sooo much better than the first book!!
Pucked tried to be funny way too hard...but this second book.... I LOVED IT!
I was so afraid Helena wouldn't make Buck likeable enough for me, but he's so amazing. He's not the stupid idiot we saw in the first book.
He's so much more - he has so many hidden secrets and desires and problems and hopes and ugh...just adorable.



And his cute adorable Sunshine. The vegan-almost-virgin Sunny. Those two fit together perfectly.
Of course it's not HAPPY EVER AFTER from the start..LOTS of problems come between them - mostly because Sunny just can't trust him....which I found a bit stupid, once or twice, ok...he has a reputation after all - but so many times? But still - I loved the book.
It was soo sexy, sooo funny, sooo adorable & moving - I even shed a few tears!!!!
I even liked Alex better than I liked him in his own book, even or maybe because he only appeared when he wanted hit/kill Buck/Miller ☺
I can't wait to read the next book - PUCKED OVER - I hope it's about Randy or Lance.

Really enjoyed this one!

Pucked up revolves around Miller “Buck” Butterson (brother of Violet and teammate to Alex Waters from Pucked) who falls for Sunny, Alex's younger sister.

I must say, from the impression Violet left of Buck from Pucked, I was expecting some silly jock man-whore. But after getting to know him, I found him to be such an incredibly sweet character with a huge heart.

He spends majority of the book trying to get himself out of comical ridiculous situations that don’t quite go according to plan and that get him in some hot water with Sunny. Though there are comical moments and one liners that had me giggling...

"Then reality slapped her in the face like an unwashed dick." (I KNOW I KNOW that it so gross, but that line seriously got me LOL)

.....I didn't find this story as laugh out loud funny as I did Pucked. There seemed to be more serious topics discussed like Buck's dyslexia, which left me actually feeling sympathy for him. But even with this, I still found it really enjoyable and loved the romantic moments that were thrown in.

"Speaking of bed, I'd like to go there now."
"You tired, sweets? You wanna go to sleep?"
"No. I want you to love me."
"You're not tired of being loved yet?"
She touches her lips to mine. "Never."

All in all this was a light, funny read with a sweet ending. And though I was expecting a totally different book than what I got, Helena did a great job of taking a character like Buck who was preconceived as a dumb man whore and made me easily adore and root for him throughout the story.

I definitely am looking forward to the third book in the series (Pucked Over), and I have a good idea who the couple will be. And if it's who I think it is, I know it is going to be awesome!

ETA: Oh how I love these books!! And Buck/Miller isn't anything like I imagined he'd be. The boys got a lot of depth & layers to him that's for sure. And Vi is her usual self & only added to the laughs.

This was extremely entertaining! Super funny, really hot, bits of angst and drama. Great read!

There were so many mishaps and awkwardness and it was awesome! Miller Butterson (Buck) had the best internal dialogue going on. I love that this is all from his POV! He tried hard and he meant well but things happened and hilarity and misadventure ensued. I liked him and was rooting for him! He is such a good guy but comes off as not too bright but he's so much more than he seems. Honestly, sometimes I felt sorry for him. He totally grew on me throughout the story. I thought Sunny (Sunshine Waters) was really sweet, she had this naivety to her that was adorable and exasperating all rolled into one. I loved watching everything develop, the fun and the sexy and the inevitable problems and how everything worked out. Some things were out and out crazy but in a that-could-only-happen-to-Miller-I'm-totally-giggling kind of way. Both Miller and Sunny were a great mix of fun and frustrating, I loved them but wanted to smack them sometimes because of their stubbornness.

Mixed in with the craziness that had me laughing were some really sweet moments as well. I loved those! And the hot! Lots of hot! It was all pretty fantastic. I really liked seeing more of Vi and Alex, and all the things that happened and tension that was there. It played out really well. I liked getting the snippet of Randy and Lily as well... I'm curious to know if they'll get their own story.

So many witty parts! I absolutely enjoyed this! Spiders and exes and poison ivy oh my! For a nice dose of laughter and a lot of heat, Pucked Up is the way to go!

This one is definitely the weakest in the series (followed by Pucked Love). And I say this painly because I adore this author and love her books. So I guess, I'm just disappointed more than anything.

There's so much wrong with this story I don't even know where to start.

The slut-shaming is strong in this one. I mean, I've found that it's a strong re-occurrence in HH books. Pucked was bad on the slut shaming but manageable, so was Hooking Up. Even Pucked Love has some unnecessary slut shaming comments. But this one right here takes the cake, it's just over the top. I fail to understand why the need for the unnecessary comments against other women.

Once again Violet takes over the story. I get it she's an important character. She's also the reason so many people DNF'd Pucked as well. Not everyone loves her. I could only tolerate her in her own book, outside of her book, I can't.

Miller is so duh and he and Sunny have zero chemistry.

I'm not a fan of stories where the people are already in relationships and there isn't much background or explanation of anything. In this case, flashbacks are your friend. If these books are being advertised as standalones then your audience is completely lost because the story assumes that you know they have a relationship based on the events in Pucked. So to me, it reads like one continuous story but with different POV. It does not help that Violet takes over the story and Sunny is not a strong character or well developed at all.

With that said, don't let this stop you from reading this series because the best books in the series are the next ones!!! Randy and Lance's books are freaking everything and then some, and better yet, they do read like complete standalones.

BOOK REVIEW: 5+++ STARS

I’ve been waiting for this book for months! FOR MONTHS! So, the moment I received the ARC, I dropped everything to read it. Let me tell you, the wait was worth it because this book is AMAZING! It has everything Helena can give in a book: It’s funny, romantic, sexy and surprisingly heartwarming. Pucked Up was more than I expected.

This is the story of Vi’s step-brother, Miller Buck Butterson. He started dating Sunny, Alex Waters’ sister in Pucked, and we all thought it was done as revenge toward Alex because of what happened with Vi; but we were all wrong. (When I say We, I mean: Alex and me HaHaHa).

Buck is a player that pretty much hooks up with every bunny that steps in front of him and spends most of his time partying with his hockey friends. He also just so happens to be one of the best hockey players in the US. So, when Buck starts “dating” Sunny, most of this stops. No more bunnies -at least not in his bed- and the partying happened less and less, but no matter how good of a boy he was, his bad boy reputation still had a lasting impression. Sunny perceived him the worst along with her best friend and also Alex—which only meant trouble for him.

“I never played anyone.”
“Maybe you didn’t string the bunnies along with false promises, but you’ve perfected the art of smooth talking. You can say almost anything to a girl, and she’s going to drop her pants for you, which is honestly amazing.”

Sunny and Miller were great together. They had great conversations and unicorns-prancing-behind-the-eyeballs sex! But their relationship wasn’t easy at all. Buck’s past behavior always mislead Sunny’s (Alex’ and Lily’s as well) conclusions to the worst. Buck tried hard to make their relationship work… but…. You’ll have to read this book to find out if Buck and his Sunny Sunshine have a HEA.

But when I see her, I’m pretty sure the tingly feeling in my dick matches that weird feeling in my chest.

What did I love the most about this book? MILLER! He was great. He was one of those guys who you think are the worst but end up being the sweetest thing in the world! And his way of making Sunny feel like she is the most precious woman in the world was THE BEST! I really felt bad for everything that happened to him. Ok, I have to admit I laughed out loud with the spider bite, the car wash, the penis in the face and the shaving cream in the arms. But I I really did feel bad for him. HaHaHa.

There was an aspect of the story that really bothered me at first: Buck is underestimated. He was unfairly labeled as the amazingly talented hockey player with lots of "willing to get naked" bunnies around, and nothing more. But Buck is way more than that. He has a great heart, he’s smart and he’s already thinking about what he’ll do after his years of playing hockey are over. And he is also very responsible about how he spends his money. I love the plot Helena added to Miller’s story. This isn’t just another funny book with lots of sex. There was even a moment that got me teary eyed. This book is pretty great.

What was the second thing I loved the most about this book? VI! She is the best step-sister Miller could ever have. She cares for him deeply and is even capable of fighting with Alex for Buck’s butt! She’s also so obsessed over Miller’s body hair that she makes Yeti-Jokes all the freaking time. She’s mean and annoying about it but I loved every line she made about how hairy he is. HaHaHa. The best. Simply, the best!

“After Alex kills you, you can donate your fur to charity. And maybe some of your more viable organs. I’m pretty sure everything but your liver is good. Ooooh, maybe they can use your micro-penis for a clitoris enlargement surgery.”

Overall, great book, funny-sexy story, perfect writing style! Get ready to #EmbraceTheYeti

Sunny is so cute! Another solid book. I love that the story is an ongoing timeline instead of a retelling of timeline events. Those can get old.
It was nice to see Miller's side of everything and get to see some things he struggles with.

If I could give all the stars in the sky, Pucked Up would deserve them. Helena pulls out all the stops for this book! It had me in stitches, the side cramps were in full force from laughing so hard.

I had been waiting for Buck's story, and Helena didn't disappoint. The unfortunate mishaps of Buck and Sunny are a story worth reading again and again! While Pucked was more sexual, Pucked Up gave you a much needed story. I'll be impatiently waiting for the third book! ~ Kelly, 5 stars

Miller "Buck" Buckerson has found himself in a situation he never thought he'd find himself in—he's in a relationship. As in a boyfriend/girlfriend one, well, as long as he can convince Sunny Waters of this too... But poor Buck has a shit-ton of obstacles in his way—namely social media and pictures that can quickly be taken out of context. But a man can change right?

Oh, I just loved bumbling, goofball Buck. He's the Jedi Master of bad decisions because he's usually singularly focused on the end result and the "how to get there" is just a means to the end. But he's got a heart of gold and will do just about anything for anyone.

I loved that we had just Buck's POV in this book. Though, I'd have loved to have had some insight into Sunny's thoughts as well. Buck and Sunny together are adorable. She's got a guard dog for a best friend in Lily and an extremely overprotective older brother in Alex. Both are in Sunny's ear and at her age, it's hard to not listen to their pushy advice. But my girl comes through in the end!

Gah! This series is so much fun. I mean, aside from the punny titles, and the slight off-color humor, the Pucked series is just straight-up good writing, good stories, good times with great characters. After only one (freakin’ hilarious) book, I was ready for more—and I got it in Pucked Up. And now, I am ready for more again…

Buck Butterson—real name Miller—is ready to settle down. After five years of puck bunnies and meaningless sex, he wants a girlfriend. More specifically, he wants Sunny Waters, little sister of his captain, Alex, and the complete anti-hockey hooker.

Sunny lives up to her name—sweet, kind, bright and an all-around nice girl. Miller, on the other hand, has a well-earned manwhore reputation. And it doesn’t help that while trying to figure out how to be a boyfriend, he’s still getting himself into trouble on social media.

In order to be the right kind of boyfriend, Miller’s going to have to figure things out sooner rather than later…before it gets even more Pucked Up.

I loved this book. Admittedly, I read it while drinking copious amounts of wine—but I feel like that is 100% in the spirit of the book. Nonetheless, I was amused, I was pissed off, I was turned on and I was mildly belligerent (that last one might have occurred when the wine—and the book—ran out). Helena Hunting knocked it out of the park—sorry for confusing my sport puns, but you know what I mean—with Pucked, the first book in this series, and following it up with a book that was a good as this one was? Ah-mazing.

While Pucked Up wasn’t as awkwardly and outrageously hilarious as the first, it still had me in stitches at times—especially the absolutely on-point banter between Buck and his step-sister, Vi. It was a slower moving story, but in the best way. We got to spend some time getting to know Buck, the Yeti-man who was so often the punchline to Vi’s jokes in the first book, and also got to see how Buck and Alex were coping with their new, not-so-desired connection. Basically, it hit on all the best bits of Pucked without being a total carbon copy.

There were lots of eye-rolling moments, where you wonder just how PUCKING stupid one person can be—seriously, Miller?!—just as there were lots of oh, wow! moments when he showed off his “stick skills”. Boy’s got game, I like it! While I would have loved to have seen Sunny’s POV—to get a little insight into her way of thinking—Ms. Hunting did an excellent job of getting us inside Buck’s sometimes crazy, sometimes sweet, always engaging mind, and making the big lug completely lovable.

So, yeah, two books (and a couple of bottles of wine) into this series, I am completely and utterly hooked. I can’t wait for more, and I hope I don’t have to for long. I’d hate to have to get belligerent again… ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

3.5 Stars. It's funny I wasn't sure I was going to like Miller..but I did. It was Sunny I had a hard time with. She was a hypocrite. When she went on that trip I think I actually growled. Like a full on WTF are you doing growl. I understand where her insecurities came from, but it started to become a broken record. My favorite part was when Miller walked away and started the life he wanted to live and didn't pander to what she wanted.

Miller was fun, loyal, and so kind. He bent over backwards to make things work and time after time he was put into a Three's Company style cluster fuck that always ended badly for a relationship he wanted so badly. When he finally stopped trying so hard, life just happened. And it all worked.

There were times I was so annoyed I had to put my kindle down and scroll through my newsfeed, take some calming breaths and then resume my reading. By the time I got to the end, I had a smile and felt like Sunny had started to deserve the man that Miller was becoming. I am so excited to read about Balls. I think it has the potential to be my favs!

I can’t believe I forgot how HILARIOUS Miller “Buck” Butterson was! He absolutely had me on my toes the whole time, listening to everything going on inside his head. One minute, I’d be melting all over the place with his utter sweetness, and the next, I’d be snort-laughing from all his ridiculousness. It was just beyond entertaining! And Joe Arden did such an amazing job capturing and delivering Buck’s character. While I missed hearing Sunny’s thoughts in this book, Buck was truly the star here. If you’ve read Pucked, you’d know how much of a manwhore this guy is. But this book made sure to show and make you feel how big this yeti’s heart really is, and how much he’s changed for his Sunny Sunshine. Pucked Up is definitely an amazing rom com go-to if you’re craving good laughs, sweet moments and a whole lot of swooning.

Yup, there's not a single bit of doubt that I enjoyed, devoured and loved this book. Aside from it being hockey-related (and I'm so freaking obsessed with hockey), the characters are just impossible not to like. I've been laughing my butt off ever since the very beginning and even until the end, my stomach was hurting from laughing all too much. Like those bursts of giggles and cackles that are impossible to hide or even quiet down. Yes, those kinds. So just imagine how inseparable I looked while I read this. LOL.

Miller Butterson is such a sweetheart. Right off the bat, when introductions about him were made, I fell in love. He had my heart right there and then. He might not have had the most stellar past, what with the puck bunnies and all, but he was really trying his best to change his ways and turn his life around. Plus, he has the biggest, most generous heart. All those camps, volunteer work and fundraisers he's been coordinating were overwhelmingly touching and heart melting. Sunshine Waters's personality was a bit annoying for me in the beginning. I just can't help but side with Miller the entire time. (I don't know, I might end up being a tad biased here since the entire book was in Miller's POV, but I'm thinking even if I learned about Sunny's fears in her POV, I think I'll still end up on the same side regardless). He has always had his best intentions at heart when it came to Sunny, but all his effort just seem to not be enough for her. She lacked trust and faith in him. I couldn't really blame her, what with Miller being a well-known hockey player and all plus her backstory on her insecurities, but she knows him. He's been putting in all the effort he could—visiting her every time he can even if she's in a different country, calling and checking in with her everyday—but she just couldn't see past all the bunnies in his manwhoring history. And she was letting other people sway her into thinking that he's just going to hurt her in the end. She just couldn't stand up for herself. And it took for her to lose that important person before she realized that she should've followed her instincts all along.

Helena Hunting has just been on point and smashing it with the books in these series. It has been such an uplifting, stomach-cramping, LMAO experience and I seriously can't get enough of it. Pucked Up, Buck's story, is more about one's turning point in life, about wanting more and leaving behind a life of screwing around. Again—I'm very well aware I'm repeating myself, but I'm still gonna say it—I loved this. And I definitely can't wait for Lily and Randy's story!

I liked book one, but I never anticipated Pucked Up would pack the punch it did for me. I loved it. The overall mood for the story is pretty light, but it does hit some deeper points.

Honestly, I really wasn't expecting much from Buck, but, after getting to know him, he's found his way onto my top book boyfriends list. First off, his heart is as big as North America. He bumbles into the most ridiculous situations where you want to hide your eyes but can't help but chuckle. Learning of his struggles growing up and his dyslexia issues made me want to snuggle him. Speaking of snuggling, he's the biggest softie ever. Also important, he has excellent bedroom skills.

The main couple of this book is Sunny and Buck. She is the vegan, yoga instructing, no make up wearing, animal shelter volunteering little sister to Waters. He is professional hockey playing, puck bunny attracting wearer of the big dumb jock label. I really enjoyed getting to know them both more. They're both pretty awesome. Much of the plot is about the romance between Buck and Sunny, but many other relationships are included. Violet and Buck have a great one. I get a kick out of how they antagonize each other but are always there to back one another. Also, there are some parent and grown child moments. Teammates and friends aggravate, fight with and rally one another.

I laughed, teared up and my heart grew two sizes. This storyline met all my basic needs for an excellent read. Even if you don't normally like sports romance, you should check it out.
