The only big-business tycoon boasting his own private executive litter box and luxury mega cat condo, the dashing Business Cat misses meetings because he’s stuck in trees, sends emails while napping on keyboards, and demands to be let out, then in, then out again.
This debut volume of the popular online comic The Adventures of Business Cat collects all the fan favorites plus a generous bonus of all-new material, for value-added experience and high employee satisfaction.
Cat lovers and office workers of the world: meet in the break room and unite!
Tom Fonder is a British/Australian artist based in the United Kingdom. He graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2012 with a film degree that he has since never used. In 2014 a silly drawing of his went viral and he accidentally became a cartoonist. He specialises in drawing cats with freakish, human hands.
i had never seen these business cat cartoons online (http://www.businesscat.happyjar.com/) because i am too old to keep up with the internet, but when i saw this book i knew i had to have it.
and it did not disappoint.
the joke is simple, but genius: put a human-sized cat in an office setting and make him king boss.
it's not too far a leap into fantasy - cats are already in charge in our hearts and homes, so why not in our corporations?
it's true there would be some difficulties in teaching them proper executive comportment
and business trips could be tricky
but i think it would ultimately be very good for big business. it is impossible to say "no" to a cat, after all, so meetings would be quick and to the point, with some napping and maybe a little snuggling.
there are many situations spotlighting those cat behaviors that are both adorable and infuriating to cat "owners" in a domestic setting, but would be even more exasperating coming from your boss.
you thought your co-workers were bad...
and while there are times when the same general punchline recurs
it doesn't really affect the enjoyment because giant cat in suit is funny enough to giggle at twice. at least.
my only complaint is that some of these cartoons are stretched to two pages and would have been funnier if only the first panel had been used
but for the most part, these are great. i'm hoping to land my dream job soon, and if this is what i see when i go into an interview:
i will know i have found my home.
after all, i'm already well-suited to combining cat and work - i have my own executive maggie
who goes in and does her job even when she should be taking medical leave
"sick days are for pussies!! claw at that glass ceiling! especially if there's a bird on the other side."
we're learning to share the office space, and i work very hard to obey her every directive.
What would happen if a cat was the CEO of a company? Well, this is it. Cats are among my favorite pets because they don’t care who you are, they are their own bosses.
So, if you have a cat as a pet, you know that sometimes they behave in a way that doesn’t make any sense. Still, we love them so much and can’t help but to like their bossy personalities.
That’s why I think this comic would be a perfect book for someone that feels love towards cats. It has hilarious pages and I laughed more than not thanks to it. Business Cat is somehow adorable and I will be reading his other comics too!
What would it be like if a cat ran a business? I think the author/artist nailed the answer to that!
Animal heads on human bodies creep me out, but I couldn't resist checking this one out. Business Cat looks so dapper in his suit! The 128 pages are filled with every Business Cat strip produced between January 7, 2014 and April 15, 2016, plus brand new material that is not available online. Most of the comic strips could all work individually, but there was also a story arc with Business Cat's nemesis, Business Pug. My favorite part was when Business Cat invites a few of his employees over to the house for dinner. The look of horror on their faces is priceless! This book is fun and amusing. It would be a great gift for the cat lover + corporate employee in your life!

*ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, thanks again* Business Cat is one of my favorite meme: it involves cats (dressed in business clothes, so cute) and because of this fact alone it's 100% relatable since I own one.
Since I'm always on the internet I saw a lot of these strips online already but in the book there was actually a story line to follow, which was interesting - especially because it introduced us to Business Pug Howard.
I don't have a lot to say about this. I think it would be a cute gift for cat lovers but it's nothing extremely innovative or hilarious - I had fun while reading it but at this point I've seen so many cat meme it's difficult to make me scream-laugh on the floor like in the past.
The cat in the gray flannel (furry) suit takes over corporate America, and hairball hilarity ensues. (Be forewarned--you might not want to accept his invitation to dinner.) My nephew introduced me to Business Cat on the Internet, so I was already a fan, but it’s nice to have the executive feline's adventures all in one new collection.

My first book by this author. A book about business, a cat; specifically a business cat and the humor inherent in such a concept.
hehe - like, for example, a cat sitting calmly in his seat at his desk looking around, up, down, around, then calmly reaching over and pushing a coffee cup off his desk. Why? Because he is a cat.
Or leaving a dead bird for an underling. Then calmly stating 'you've earned it.'
Or rubbing against the legs of a potential business partner - 'turning on the charm'.
Or sitting on the floor in the bathroom . . . right, I need to stop babbling like this.
A mostly funny book, though I personally might have enjoyed it better if it had actually been a cat instead of a human with a cat head in place of a human head. Plus, the guy's 'cat' is a cat with a human head - quite frankly that was super disturbing.
Some of the jokes wer quite hilarious, some were funny, some where meh. Depends on how they hit you at the time, of course - for whatever reason, the liter box in the dinning room that the cat headed person showed to his human guest - the expression on her face, and the expression on the face of her husband who was sitting at the table eating with her right behind him - struck me as hilarious at the time.
And some of the jokes were confusing. Like the cat sitting in a waiting room holding a magazine titled 'Body Shame'. Confusing.
Other than the few meh and or confusing strips, this is a rather humorous great book. Though I recommend reading it in smaller snippets than I did.
Business Cat loves office deliveries Because then his office is full of empty boxes.
Business Cat likes a private belly rub Until he's had enough
Then he bites your arm.
This was exactly the kind of weird, off-kilter humor that I love, combined with crisp clean artwork. My only problem is that I don't have cats, so while I could see that the jokes were funny, they didn't really make me laugh, because I didn't have that "btdt" reaction that a cat owner would have.
Hilarious. Even though is a bit strange to see a cat's head on a man's body, the result is pure genious. I have seen some of the little storyes on FB, so I really appreciate the chance to review this hilarious book. Any cat lover will appreciate the kirks of cats during all the book and will find themselves laughing like crazy. I know I did =^.^=
The Adventures Of Business Cat is by far and away my favourite webcomic. The strips regularly had me hooting aloud or still sniggering for some time afterwards, which I have to admit tends to be a rare occurrence with webcomics, which are often more of a smile-silently type of affair.
So I'm pleased to have the first collection of Business Cat in book form, which contains a few extra panels here and there. It maybe lacks quite the same punch as it did online - it's unlikely that I will see a strip out of context when it's a page in a book. And this is only the first collection, so now I have to wait for the rest, which of course I already read when it was published online, so in a way the story feels cut-short because I know what happens later.
But I love Business Cat. I was so upset when Tom Fonder announced the comic was over after (only) four years, so it's good to have this funny book on hand to lighten the mood. Recommended for everyone who has ever met a cat.
This wasn't it. It was just ok and read both like a misunderstanding of what made the Office enjoyable and also like it were making fun of workers and cats. I dunno I was disappointed.
If you have read Business Cat on-line, here is a collection of the best strips, as well as, apparently, some new ones, to tie the stories together. If you have never read this, then you should check it out on line, and then go get this book.
If you have cats, if you know cats, if you work in any business, you will get the jokes in this book. It is not so funny that you roll on the floor, but it is spot on to the ways of cats and business, sometimes to the point of ridiculousness.
I'm wavering between a three and a four star, because although this is funny, it is not so funny that I laughed out loud, but it could be because the funniest strips I saw on-line, already.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
'Business Cat: Money, Power, Treats' by Tom Fonder is a series of comic strips about a company CEO who has a human body and a cat's head. It's hilarious on a couple different levels.
He may be mostly man with a cat's head, but he acts totally like a cat. Pushing his coffee cup off his desk, sending dead birds to prize employees, and lapping up alcohol out of a dish are all things that business cat does. He also acts inappropriate during important business meetings and has a litter box in his executive wash room. Being invited to his house for dinner is probably not a great idea, even if he is the boss. His biggest rival is business dog, and they have a bet for who will be the business pet of the year.
This book manages to skewer cat ownership and work at the same time. Having a cat for a leader would be ludicrous, but having a scratching post installed for employee morale is about on par for some of the things I've heard that have been done. I found it all really funny.

This paperback collection is what introduced me to the webcomic Adventures of Business Cat which sadly ended its run last year due to the Tom Fonder's battle with depression.
Synopsis: Business Cat is a cat with a human body who is the tycoon of one of the most affluent corporations run by an anthropomorphic animal besides his competitor, Business Dog and on the far lower end of the spectrum, Business Crab (and yes, that's their actual names).
My thoughts: I found the absurdist surrealism in the eponymous character's quirks and workplace antics cachinnating since his natural feline instincts in spite of his anthropomorphism were playfully acknowledged. For example, in many strips, Business Cat is seen treating office supplies such as computers and keyboards as if they were toys or leisurely commodities.
Overall: Business Cat: Money, Power, Treats is a fun and gut-busting collection which I recommend to anyone with a droll sense of humor who wants a quick laugh.
Business Cat is a tycoon, captain of industry, cat, and cartoon. He's all about the bottom line until something trips him up, like an empty box to sit inside of, or a can of tuna served at a leading restaurant.
Whether he's playing with print-outs or sending employees to sensitivity training for looking at cat memes, Business Cat is hilarious. He runs toward the elevator someone is holding open for him, then sits down and won't get in. His house has a cat habitat on the roof. His Secret Santa gift to an employee is a demised critter wrapped in cheery holiday paper.
The combination of cool, collected CEO and goofball kitty is the funniest thing I've seen in ages. (Not as funny if BC horks up a hairball on your keyboard, but that's life in corporate America.) Absolutely recommended.
Love cats, love memes, some parts of it were funny but I found the illustrations kinda weird and distracting most of the time. Mostly Business Cat having human hands and his "pet" having a human head.
Los amantes de los gatos reconocerán muchas de las escenas que ahí se representan, y sin duda lo harán reír. En mi opinión, pierde algo de fuerza cuando la trama se deja de centrar en el “gato” para centrarse en el “empresario”.
Very cute and gave me the giggles several times. I had never seen any content where business cat talked...it added room for some good jokes but some of the implications were a little ick.
A quick but very entertaining read! It was hilarious!! Reminds me of The Office (bonus because one of the characters looks like Jim Halpert) and Jack (the mascot of Jack in the Box). Very good!
