Poppy Green can talk to animals! Unfortunately, they never talk back to her. So she started writing in order to imagine what they might say and do when humans aren’t watching. Poppy lives on the edge of the woods in Connecticut, where her backyard is often a playground for all kinds of wildlife: birds, rabbits, squirrels, voles, skunks, deer, and the occasional wild turkey.

We are huge fans of Sophie Mouse and even my 2 year old loved listening as I read-a-loud. My 6 year old asked for us to read anytime we were sitting still.

Things I love…
- wholesome
- expands vocabulary
- characters are kind to each other
- characters use critical thinking and problem solving - also creativity!
- characters model great character traits like apologizing and forgiveness
- and so much more!!

10/10 recommend all 10 books in this series!

The illustrations are exquisite. I bought this in hardcover with newsprint paper inside and black and white illustrations. I think if you buy the books individually you get color illustrations, which I think would be worth it, because they are so lovely.

Easy to read stories with little real conflict but still containing some challenging vocab for young readers. My kiddo enjoyed.

Really cute collection of stories about Sophie Mouse and friends.

Perfect for read aloud! Short chapters and lots of pictures. Great lessons and morals to the stories. Fun characters. Teaches young readers about being a good friend, including others, celebrating yourself, and the importance of kindness and love.

Really enjoyed this little collection. Would read more!

Fun and adventurous read-aloud with my 5 year olds. Simple without being baby-ish and lots of good conversation starters on how to handle certain situations.
