New Page 1 The main aim of writing this book is to incorporate modern method of analysis and techniques adaptable to computer programming in a manner as clear and easy as the subject permits. The author felt that computer programs should be included in the book in order to assist the student in the application of modern methods associated with computer usage.
I would recommend this book to both undergraduate as well as postgraduate students who wish to delve into the subject of Earthquake Engineering.
It serves as a precursor to Structural Dynamics by A.K.Chopra and the likes, in my opinion. having read both, I would put the book by Mario Paz to be mathematically oriented rather than focussing on the underlying concepts like that of Inertia. Hence the need to couple it with another book that focusses on the workings rather than just the Math's behind it.
All in all a great book. Helped me a lot during my undergraduate and MSc. Print size is a bit small but it's legible.
This is a must read book for people majoring in structure engineering such as civil engineering and ocean engineering. This book contain a lot of aspect for structural design, such as stiffness and natural frequencies of structure.
This book also contain Fortran Language for computate Structural Dynamics problem. This book also explain structural respond from working force such as wave force, wind force, and earthquake.
