Norgal and Agatha pass through a dark forest with a particularly grim history, where they meet a strange little creature named Gnym. Is he a friend? Or does he just want to see undead giants squish the HEAD LOPPER to meat-jelly? All this... and more!
Massachusetts based comic artist, Andrew R. MacLean is the creator of the SNIP SNIP, Head Lopper, and Daruma. His work can also be found in Department O, Colonial Souls, Meatspace, Outlaw Territories, Bad Karma, and others.
Continuing story of Norgal, Agatha and other important characters – less impressive
This comic collection continues the story of Norgal, the Head Lopper, a white-haired barbarian, accompanied by the head of Agatha Blue Witch as he goes on another quest with others. This ends in tragedy for some and, to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with this volume. It all gets a bit tiresome, especially as the style of illustration is not always clear and too colourful. Another volume follows next year.
I just read someone say "fun, crazy and weird and comical" and welp... yeah! That pretty much sums it up. This is a great call back to high fantasy and that Robert E. Howard stuff we have all come to know and love. If you love high fantasy adventure, then I highly recommend!
Things are starting to heat up for old Norgul. It's weird how much of a slow burn this series is when each issue is 50-some pages minimum, but I've gotta admit, I'm liking it.
MacLean continues the tale of the Viking Norgal and his traveling companion, the head of Agatha the Blue Witch. We're starting to see some characters return and some new ones introduced who will probably play a bigger part later in the series.
The duo once again encounter the small squirrel man and are being hunted by a pair that seek the witch's head for their own purposes. Meanwhile, the mysterious boatman is still around with his own agenda. We also meet some giants who feed on the spirits of dead warriors, so you can be sure that Norgal will make use of his skills with his axe.
This is the second of four books in this series and I hope that when it ends MacLean will have further stories.
