Pamela Washington is a proud native of Staten Island, New York who resides in Charleston, South Carolina with her amazing husband and wonderful daughter. Pamela LOVES to read! She enjoys the opportunity to enter into a whole new world and escape reality for a little while. Pamela is quite passionate about her writing. She pours her heart and soul into everything she writes because she wants to give her readers a very special part of herself. A self-professed hopeless romantic. However, not every story she writes will have a happily ever after.
So he loved the heroine but he wanted a relationship with Maxine even though he didn't love her but the sex was great??? He shagged Gloria and loved it but he loved the heroine..... Wow I sure am glad my hubby does not love me like that! The heroine was a weirdo and the hero a whore and this book was a headache I wish I didn't waste my time!
Another book where H fucks an OW in graphic detail multiple times and it’s hotter and he’s more turned on than the FADE TO BLACK scenes with the h…SERIOUSLY, WTAF?!?!?!?
I’m all #TeamOW but that OW wasn’t even his regular OWFB. She was just a random plot ho…WTAF?!!?
He’s terrible, absolutely irredeemable. I’m guessing that’s why the series was abandoned. The author wrote herself into a box and couldn’t put out the dumpster fire she started.
Be warned, it ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger and the entire story is completely left hanging, NOTHING is resolved. The end of book 1 (h’s book) is a sneak peak at her OM’s book (book 3…which never published) and it hints at drama, too.
This is a contemporary romance. This is a follow up to the book Runaway Love, which I recommend for readers to read first to get the complete story. This is for adults only due to the sexual content. I already knew what was going to happen in this book, by reading Runaway Love, but the author all but made up for it by throwing several curve balls. Personally I don't really care for either Scott or Grace, they both are messed up. But together they have made it through some terrible times and somehow they are bonded. They are a perfect mess, and I found myself cheering for them. And then OMG what an ending! I so hope this isn't the end. I need more.
Scott Peters, friend, soccer player, deserter, heart breaker and above all human, someone who now realizes he has made mistakes, horrible mistakes. All he can do is try to make up for his wrong doings. How many times does one have to say I am sorry? Time doesn't heal all wounds, as he will soon learn. Promises are not made to be broken especially ones with so much emotional package. Through all his indiscretions he still claims love for Grace. Without thinking twice he decides his life needs changing, starting with himself. Life throws some whirl winds in to stir things up, and wow what a ride.
favorite passages: "I was filled with so much anger that fighting became my main outlet." "My heart warmed and soared because I was actually having a positive impact on someone!" "All we knew for certain was that we were part of each other and nothing could ever tears us apart." "Holy hell, I'm an emotional mess!" "You were my sunshine, my happiness, my hope!" "My mind is messed up as my inner demons take control." "I realize that I'm meant to be a combination of my past, present, and future." "I have to stop myself from knocking on the door and going caveman to claim what's mine." "The shattered glass does nothing to make me feel better; it just reminds me of what my heart must look like." <3
Have you read Runaway Love by Pamela Washington? If not, you need to read that book before starting on The Risk.
3 / 5 stars
In hope of making a better future for Grace and himself, Scott leaves Grace behind and moves to England to play soccer. Soccer is great and he makes a good career of it. He got it all - money, alcohol,women... the only thing missing, is the love of his life, Grace. Etched in his soul no one can replace her, but Maxine, his managers daughter, sure gives it a try. When Grace all of the sudden reach out to Scott everything gets turned upside down. Scott needs to meet Grace. He need to know if she still loves him the way he loves her. Knowing she's married they meet, the old feelings, their first love is real.
Scott don't want to break up her family, he don't want do that to Scotty. He tries to leave Grace behind, to have a happy life with her husband and son. But things happen – He know he is the risk, he wants Grace to take the risk, but will she?
This is an emotional time for Scott, it's hard to tell the real from the dream. What is the truth? Will the first true love conquer all?
So what do I think? Well, this is a novella – and I'm not a huge fan (sorry) There is so much happening in a short time and Scott was acting like a brat. Using both Maxine and Grace while he decided what to do. BUT the author manages to keep you on your toes and leave you breathless after ending this book the way she does.
I probably liked this book more than I should have because it has prevalent themes dominating the pages that I usually abhor in other novels namely rampant cheating but here all lines are blurred & thus forgiven because it makes sense.
Having said that I loved the over top craziness this book portrays.Scott is almost realistically lifelike in his immoral behavior. There is one instant where he plans out revenge sex & executes it with the precision of an expert hit man that had all my senses firing up.
I did not care much for book one in the series & I almost abandoned reading the follow up.I'm just glad I stayed the journey.
Now all the author has to do to make this trip truly worthwhile is to convince me that Scott will abstain from his man whore tendencies & will stay true to the heroine not only emotionally but physically as well.
