In The Lock, we are in the third book in the Dark Path series. For those of you not familiar with the series, we told the story of the main couple is Max and Ericka. Max is the owner of the BDSM club The Gate along with Catherine. Erica has come a long way since book one. Her and Max are looking to get married. They even talking about going to Vegas to elope.

However, Max's brother, Daniel, gets into a scandal, so they make an unexpected trip to LA to visit him. While there, Max has a run-in with his old nemesis, Abraham, who is blackmailing his brother. Abraham is also marrying, Page, who is Chris' sister. Chris is Ericka's ex from the first book. Page is also Max's ex and lastly, she is crazy.

Then there's Catherine. Catherine is trying to figure out what she wants in her life. Does she want to stay with her overbearing Master? Or does she want to stay with Bryan. There are few twists that come up here that I won't spoil.

I know reading all of this it sounds chaotic, but it is really well written. The Lock kept me glued to my seat, turning pages. It has quite the climatic ending to the story that leaves you wanting more. As per the first two books in the series, the author leaves things with a cliffhanger. That is my biggest complaint about this series. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers and there has been one at the end of each book. If you like BDSM erotica, this is a great series with well developed characters and a wonderful story to go along with it.

The drama intensifies with threats from the past as this intense romance continues
Erika and Max are in a great place as they plan their wedding but of course, drama won’t leave them alone as Max’s brother, Daniel, is pulled into a scandal involving people from Max’s past, Abraham, who ultimately want to get to him. While this is going on, Catherine is struggling as she tries to find her true self while with Bryan yet knowing Raymond is waiting to pull her back into his world. These two worlds collide as Raymond gets involved with Abraham, who will survive? I love the layers that keep building with all the intrigue and mystery as people hold grudges and seek revenge. At the same time, Max and Erika continue to grow and prove their love for each other. Review copy provided by Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts

Well, it's been a while since i was immersed in this series so i have to admit that i was a bit worried that i'd be off in the point of the story that we were in. Low and behold, that's not the case at all, and i was quickly up to speed with all things related to Max and Ericka and even Catherine, Raymond and Bryan. With the injection of Daniel (Max's brother), and Abraham, Raymond's nemesis, well, things are bound to get dicey.

It's interesting where this story takes us. We're still deep in the mix of the relationship with Max and Ericka, where they are trying to figure out how to take the next step in their relationship since they are engaged - we know that they want a big wedding for Ericka, but they also don't want all the fanfare at first. Is it Vegas? and will they get there?

Then there's the issue of Catherine and Bryan. We learned that Bryan is Raymond's nephew (or is he???) and that Raymond lost a bet leaving Catherine and Bryan to go back to NY together. OF course, this break isn't the first or second for the couple, and we know that Raymond has his sights on being with Catherine forever. we'll see if that happens.

Our least favorite mistress from The Gate comes along - Louise and she's never a welcome site. Then there's the whole Daniel / Abraham issue that's bringing everything to a climax. Daniel is being blackmailed by Abraham who has been plotting his revenge since high school and it's really just a matter of who's going to strike first and what it's going to mean for all of those adjacent.

Where we're left off in this story is with someone dead, still no idea who's going to get hurt or ruined in the next installment, but a few weddings being planned.

What is typical of KT Grant's writing are the scenes that we get to watch. There's no shying away from the lifestyle that our main characters have been a part of forever, and it's not just that it's descriptive, but it's hot. We get to see that there are boundaries for most, and when those are reached, everyone involved gets a ot of pleasure from it.

So on that note, it's on to the next installment when ever we are graced with it.

Amazing

This is the third installment of the Dark Path series by K.T. Grant. It was everything and more then I could ever wish for. After reading the first two books, I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. And boy I wasn't disappointed. As always there was the right amount of romance and mystery .
Cant wait to see where the next book will take us next.
