Don Massenzio

Like his character, Frank Rozzani, Don was born in Syracuse, New York to first generation Italian American parents. He’s an avid reader. Some of my favorite authors are Harlan Coben, David Morrell, Stephen King, Jonathan Kellerman, John Grisham, and Hugh Howey. His favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird.

He started writing as a way to combat the long hours of travel and numerous hotel stays that are part of the ‘glamorous’ world of corporate life. He use writing as a therapeutic outlet to combat his homesickness.

His first published book, Frankly Speaking, rose to the top of the Amazon charts. It was the first in a series of books focused on the character, Frank Rozzani, a Florida private detective. The series is a throwback to the days of pulp detective novels with a tip of the hat to Jim Rockford from the 70’s television show, The Rockford Files. He's also released a collection of short stories called Random Tales that is available for your Kindle or in paperback.

Also, look for his non-fiction book, The Ultimate Guide For Independently Published Authors: Tips for improving quality and selling your work, now available on Amazon.com as an eBook or in paperback

He moved to Jacksonville, Florida 22 years ago where he currently lives with his wife, daughter, and three dogs.

This author has another series, a crime series .... which is where I ran into him for the first time. When I had the opportunity to read this one, I jumped right on it. This is a genre outside my comfort zone, but shortly after starting this book, I got real comfortable with it.

Naval Officer Brad Rafferty and his team are called in to investigate the terrorism attack at a men's college basketball game and hunt down those responsible.

From the get-go it's fast paced, full of thrills and chills. The story line is guaranteed to keep you turning those pages. Characters are believable, as is the dialogue.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is just the start of a new series.

My thanks to the author who so graciously furnished a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I listened to the audio book of Blood Orange and must say, right up front, that the narrator did an excellent job. I loved this book. It started off really well for me with an very intriguing event that got you right into the story quickly. The book was fast paced and full of action and I though the twists and turns were very good. The book ended up going in a direction that I hadn't anticipated at all but Don Massenzio really tied the pieces together very well at the end. What appealed to me the most about this story is that it is so very possible. As I listened I could just imagine something like this happening and people having to deal with the terrible aftermath of an attack of the nature detailed in the book. I enjoyed the characters, in particular, Navel Officer Brad Rafferty, a man of great integrity and who has experienced one of the worst situations that his job could offer. The main female character was also very intelligent and determined and I appreciated these qualities being highlighted in a female in the US military. That being said, Maria's character was very realistic and her contribution not feel at all unreasonable. I listed to the whole book in three days which certainly highlights how much I enjoyed it because I am easily distracted from reading, or listening in this case, by work commitments and my own writing.

I do not care for murder mysteries, but this was great! Don did a wonderful job making you feel like you are actually in the location by the way he describes everything. I was able to recognize most of the locations mentioned as I live in Syracuse, NY.
It is about a terrorist attack on the Syracuse Dome during a historical meetup of to rival basketball teams. the fallout & ultimate ending keep you on edge of your seat. Ending is definitely not seen coming!
WELL DONE, DON!

One of the best thrillers this year

Blood Orange was a great, fast paced book full of many twists and turns. A story that could be ripped right from the news in the strange world we are now living in.
A must read , you won't be sorry.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
I was a little thrown at the beginning. Firstly because this author’s most famous character, his detective Frank, was mentioned early on and I kept waiting for him to make an appearance later in the narrative. It took me a few pages to sort out who was who, but once the main characters emerged, it all became clear. I did not check out the number of pages when I bought the book as the blurb sounded so interesting, but I finished it in one sitting. A good story with a lot of technical detail – either the author is very familiar with nuclear physics of he did a lot of research. It did raise the question as to what governments do with dangerous ‘stuff’ – how and where they store them. Well worth 5 stars.

This author has a new addition to his crime series. This book is quite a delightful read with its face paced page turning puzzle. It has government, military, sports, terrorism and universities to keep you spell bound. Brad Rafferty and his team have the best technology at their disposal to locate and eliminate the mastermind of this horrific event.

The writing and research on this book has been done very well. Definitely worth spending a few hours reading this book and wait….for the outcome!

Excellent book. Great cast of characters and an interesting but unsettling plot. Something like this could happen in this day and age. This book gets the highest honor I can give, by placing it in my Read Again Collection on my Kindle. I do hope there will be another book with this group of characters. They make a great team. :)

Wonderful!

A fast paced action packed story about hidden terrorists in the US. I didn't even know about the terrorist angle till near the end.
