This is a fun 4 book set of mysteries that take place in Misty Falls, Oregon. Stormy Day (yes that's her real name) owns a gift shop and lives in a duplex with the other side ready to rent. She has returned to her hometown after a mysterious ending of her career as a venture capitalist. Her father is a retired police detective, and Stormy, who has spent her youth growing up as an active detective in training, soon stumbles upon a mystery and starts detecting in earnest.
Each book has a different murder and cast of characters, but the core characters remain the same throughout the books. There is some foreshadowing of the next mystery at the end of each book, and as the books progress, Stormy becomes a stronger investigator. Each book can be read independently, however they are more enjoyable read in order so you have the background information that is subtly referred to from previous adventures.
All of the mysteries are good, and they are complex with surprised along the way. I was disappointed when book 4 ended because no book 5 has been published as of now. I also need to confess that I enjoyed the books more than I expected, I thought they would be fast reads that would be fun but relatively predictable. Boy was I wrong. So many surprises and a lot more enjoyable than I expected. I read them one right after another as quickly as time allowed. I recommend them as "clean" cozy mysteries for all ages.

Neat read

No blood, gore, steamy sex just good clean laughs. Well, so one dies, but not particularly nightmare causing. Stormy is a walking disaster yet smart and the kind of woman you want as a friend. The mysteries are well written and the endings satisfy.

Stormy Day

I love these books because the characters are very quirky. I read the first book years ago, but I remembered the title fondly so I grabbed the first 3 in the series when it came up at a discounted price. I get offers for so many free and $0.99 ebooks I tend to follow a lot of new writers. Stormy’s dad is a retired police officer that seems to want his daughter to become a P.I. She solves the death of a Medium, who is really a con woman with him as he is recovering from hip replacement surgery. She has help from the lawyer renting the other side of her duplex. Then, on a date with the lawyer, her ex-fiancé shows up and drags her and her roommate to his cousin’s new lodge in the mountains just a few hours from her home. A friend of the man’s wife dies and a mudslide traps the visitors in and police out so Stormy is promised the hours she needs for the P.I. license if she will be their eyes and ears until they can make it up to the Lodge.

Well, this was a new one on me. This box set (kindle edition) had five (count 'em! five!) bonus books all sandwiched between books 1 & 2 of the box set. Usually, if a box set has a bonus book, there's only one. I don't really mind bonus books. In fact it's a good way to get a younger author some readers. But this wasn't that. After looking at the Dalya Moon page and the Angela Pepper page on goodreads, it appears that the Dalya Moon books were written BEFORE the Angela Pepper books. AND the Dalya Moon author page specifically says those books are out of print and there are no plans for re-release. So why include them in a box set? I'm confused. Oh, well.

After weeding thru the fluff that the bonus books turned out to be, I must say that I quite like the Stormy Day character in the novels written by Angela Pepper. THIS series needs to be continued. Our heroine here is an adult and actually was a welcome relief from the angst of the teenagers in the five bonus books. YA fiction has its place, but that usually isn't on my bookshelf. But enough about that.

The main thing I want to say in this review is that the Stormy Day Mysteries, books 1-4 are pretty good cozies. I enjoyed them. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries, I think you will, too.

These books are perfect to curl up in a comfy chair, with a hot chocolate and your cat on your lap. Get ready to laugh, cry, feel fear and wonder who did it and why. Stormy Day stumbles over dead bodies, gives advice to the police and is an excellent interrogator. With her boyfriend Logan and her cat Jeffrey, these stories will warm your heart and make you happy that you treasured your time enough to read them.

I have reviews on each of the individual books if you'd like to know more about each story.

Loved the first three books in this series so much that I grabbed this collection so I could refresh my memory before reading books four. I skipped through the bonus books because they just didn't appeal to me. Maybe I got too much of a good thing by reading all four books, but it seems that they were not quite the same as when I read the individual books. Very well written and very entertaining though, so believe me when I say you gotta read them! Just choose the collection or choose the stand alone books, not both.

Problems about 2/3 of the way

All was great until I got to chapter 30 of the third book, then the sentences didn't match on one page to the next! After about five times of this happening I had lost continuity. Basically from the point she walked out of the bagel shop it was messed up. All of a sudden they were talking about puppies! I am hoping it was only a problem with the way mine downloaded.

Fun, easy read

Liked the characters and the writing. Too much detail about physical appearance of the men. Didn't keep me from reading the books because I tried to skip over those parts. I'm very conservative and like romance to be extra squeaky clean. Otherwise would have rated it 5. I'm sure I'm in the minority.
