More than thirty years after The Beatles split up, the music of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison lives on. What exactly were the magical ingredients of those legendary songs? why are they still so influential for today's bands? This groundbreaking book sets out to exlore The Beatles' songwriting techniques in a clear and read
An excellent book if you have a little musical knowledge. Much more valuable if you have a guitar or piano handy to play through the examples.
Somewhat difficult to use if you want to follow up on a single song because the book is arranged by compositional technique with bits of each song discussed under different techniques. Two exceptions to this practice are the final 20+ page chapter on "She Loves You" and a 40+ page chapter on the ***first chord*** of "A Hard Days Knight."
This is the kind of book everybody should be handed in schools. Not only you learn the Bealtes' secrets but they are not only mentioned but taught. You see modern examples to learn And not some western classical music fag. And the transcriptions are included too. Also put in context comparing beatles with what the general norms were of the the time, And how they constantly broke them. It's definitely a book for songwriters. I strongly recommend writing a song after each concept. To really ingrain the book.
I can guarantee you will stand out from the herd of musicians if you go through this book. I made notes and revise them because, as i said earlier, it's like a music lesson book. You'll really appreciate and learn the early Beatles'.
This is a great account of the greatest band ever. I didi not agree with the previous statement before i read the book.
Great analysis of the Beatles musics. Covers everything, song structures, chord progressions, influences, use of various techniques that re-occur in their music... This book is the Bible on the Beatles music.
