Obstetrician Brooke Campbell helps families grow every day. For me, the label 'Kindle Unlimited' screams 'amateurish, unedited crap'. That is not true for all books of course, but the junk to jem ratio is so high it just seems too much work to wade through the pile and even more work trying to distinguish fake/paid reviews from genuine ones. For some reason, KU books tend to have very few or very short Goodreads reviews.
But this book has been sitting at the top of the huge pile for a while, and with a gorgeous cover like that and at only $2 a pop, who can resist? It is cheaper than a frap and much less fattening and if it can give me a couple of hours of entertainment and not make me throw up, why not? Besides, I want to try out this new author. Also, there aren't many blue collar/white collar romances in lesfic so that too appeals.
Single mom to twins Tess works for a freight company. She has a crush on a good-looking obstetrician Brooke who works at a maternity clinic she frequently drops off packages at. But Tess knows her place. She delivers packages while the good doctor delivers babies. Thats a huge pay grade gap in any book. Not to mention the excess baggage she lugs around--energetic 8-yr old twins. So she is content to just admire from a distance and savor the few and always too brief moments when the doctor personally receives her packages. This is a romance so, of course, fate throws them repeatedly in each other's way, often literally.
Everything about the book screams CUTE. Cute cover. Cute leads. Cute kids. Even their private thoughts and their dancing around each other are cute. So this is a very enjoyable read if you like cute. And I enjoyed it--a lot. It does get to be a little annoying towards the end, and I wanted to scream 'Will you two stop that already' at their cutesy negative thoughts. Even though this is a fairy tale romance, it is well-grounded. The portrayals, especially of the kids, are realistic, the leads are very likeable, the situations are not over-the-top, and the relationships with parents are well-done. Some laugh-out-loud moments pepper the book. And the all-important development of the romance is sweet and unrushed.
Highly recommended for all fluffy romance lovers and for others who like a relaxing, no-stress, minimal-angst read. But also because its cheap (or free if you're KU) and you won't want to kill me too much if you didn't like it. ;)

"There was something about Tess that pulled her toward the woman. It was strange to Brooke. As much as she found Tess attractive, the connection she felt was somehow deeper."
Now why can't all the book couples be like this. So many of them are based solely on mutual attraction and have no connection. Thankfully Tess and Brooke did not share that problem. A slowburn romance with great chemistry and meaningful conversations and all under 100 pages.

On the edge of being a short story - assume a jolly jape by JA Armstrong for me to buy part 2 - which I've done so it worked, but wouldn't it be more honest to put them all in one book? Loved it though, straight into part 2.

This was a simple, easy romance, which is good because the length couldn't have supported anything longer. I liked both main characters immensely and enjoyed their dance around each other . . . mostly. Which is to say I think it got a bit old near the end. There's really only so far you can go when the only real impediment to the relationship is self-doubt. I think Armstrong pushed that limit rather hard.
Armstrong's writing works, though it's a bit clunky around the edges. That's most evident in the wanton viewpoint shifting. Romance, as a genre, has a pretty high tolerance for that but I think she still pushed the bounds with some shifts even mid-paragraph. She is good enough that the meanings are clear and the shifts attributed well-enough, but they still push you in and out of character perspective and that can be disorienting. She could do with better copy editing, too, though that wasn't as bad as it could have been.
I want to say something about a romance featuring two women as main characters, but I'm having a hard time deciding what. As far as it goes, this one just worked. I think that's probably harder than it seemed because both characters seemed authentically female and their relationship was appropriately informed by that. In other words, this wasn't some awkward translation from something else. I appreciated that authenticity even as I took it for granted.
So in all, a light fun romance story. I don't usually do short fiction, but I don't regret trying this one out. I wish the author published longer works because I'd like to see what she can do with more depth to explore and a relationship with more challenges and setbacks. As far as this one went, it's a solid three stars with enough upward pressure that I'd really like to explore more by the author.
A note about Steamy: About mid range with a single explicit sex scene. It was long enough (and the story short enough) that it was enough to bump the steam to the lower mid level of my tolerance on its own.

3 stars. A quick, cute read. I'm not sure I want to continue the series though. The characters didn't particularly grab me and everything else about the book is pretty standard for the genre.

Cute.
A bit too easy, a bit too predictable... but cute nonetheless. Loved the characters and enjoyed the banter. Definitely better than most books you get with Kindle Unlimited.

I'm really disappointed with this one! :( It has such good ratings, but alas this wasn't for me. I was in the mood for cute and fluffy, but I didn't find the dialogues believable, the characters' inner thoughts was just too much and kept pulling me out of the story. I liked the idea, but the execution wasn't up to my expectations. I find myself skimming the last few pages because I couldn't find myself to care. I will not be reading the rest of this series, but I would't mind reading something else by this author.

I liked this short FF story, although I felt something was missing. I may continue the series to see if it picks up. There are kids in the story and that’s always fun!! 😁

This is the first in a series that seemingly follows one couple. Dr. Brook Campbell is an obstetrician who loves her practice. She has very little going on in her life but happily covers weekend call and late night deliveries. Tess Sinclair is a single mom raising a set of twins. She hadn't planned on them but is doing all she can to love and support them. Tess delivers packages to Brook's office. When they meet by chance in a pizza parlor a connection is formed. Later Brook helps with a medical issues with Tess's son. This is an easy going, no angst beginning. I wasn't blown away by it but I will at least read the next in the series to see how it continues.

As perfect escapism as the cover suggests. A short novel about a fabulous doctor, single through choice, finding she has no choice but to fall for the other main. A light, angst free trip away from the madness of your current life (unless you happen to be an impossibly gifted gorgeous doctor definitely not looking for a girlfriend).

This book felt like a jelly filled donut with the jelly missing. It started out great (they meet, life circumstances push them into friendship) and then the next two months of their relationship are summarized with a "They spent time talking and spending time together." Wait... that's where they fall in love! I missed it!
This left me feeling like I couldn't connect with their relationship. The small touches, almost-kisses or moments of lust were also missing, filled instead with nothing but angst about why they can't. Honestly I think the book should have just ended with their first kiss, because it took so long to happen. Then the rational we're-too-tired-we'll-wait-to-connsumate killed whatever emotional build-up I did have. Had the book been any longer, I wouldn't have finished it.

Very Sweet!
This was a very sweet, heartwarming, quick read! Both of the main characters are just genuinely kind and loving humans and I don’t quite know what else to say other than I really enjoyed reading this story and I would gladly read it again. It’s on the shorter side but the good news is there is more!

I love the series 'Special Delivery' By JA Armstrong. I like that I can read them in one sitting, that it's like catching up with Friends and here all the gossip but mostly I love that it's simple stories of love that could happen everyday!
Tess and Brooke meet at the hospital that Brooke works at as a Doctor. When Tess has a emergency with her son one night Brooke supports and helps her in the difficult but realistic situation that many single mothers with more than one child face. From their they built a friendship that you can see from the start they are meant to be together but Brooke has many fears about not only giving Tess what she deserves but also her two children.

Children, a dog and a blooming love connection. My kind of story. Cute!! Tess, way to find yourself and love. Brooke, way to step up and find love. Fun story with a reminder that some love connections do begin with friendship.

Great premise, poor execution.
The tone set - especially when the leads have their inner monologues - comes off as juvenile to me and it's completely out of place in a romantic story between adults.

Short and sweet, this story of a single mom and a doctor is traditionally romantic. No angst, likeable MCs, a good cast of supporting characters, it is easy and cute.

This is a very well written tale about finding love when not looking for it, and denying its existence due to fear. Brooke and Tess are well developed characters who know each other strictly in occasional business momentary encounters. When a chance encounter while both are procuring supper destroys Brooke's meal, Tess offers to share her family's meal with her. The women enjoy each other's company, and both secretly begin having unwanted feelings for each other. They begin spending more time with each other, all while fighting their attraction to one another. Will they ever be able to move beyond their own insecurities and cultivate a relationship? This storyline flows from the pages and right into your heart. This book should be added to your must-read list.
Although this book doesn't end with a real cliff-hanger, part 2 of their story continues in "Small Packages".

It's a cute story. Brooke is obsessed with her new best friend, even though everyone else thinks they're dating. Most of the fluff is around the kids and murphy the labrador. I like the trope when people are close but don't realize they love each other. they just do cute things together as friends, as opposed to a more romance-y plot. I liked the middle part of the book the most, when they're still in the friend territory.
The angst mostly revolves around how the two leads don't communicate their feelings well. Their family backstories aren't the happiest either, between Tess's deadbeat boyfriend and how Brooke's family is torn between family and careers.
I picked this up on kindle unlimited, and I'll look for more from this author.

This book was very cute. In my opinion, it was written a lot like fanfiction. I found quite a few typos on Kindle that seem to have been missed (it happens). I really enjoyed the characters, as well as one of them having kids.
Like other reviews have said, book 1 was fairly short and could have been merged with book 2 (I haven't read that one yet). I also would have liked to see the next few days or weeks past the ending.
Overall, this was very cute and I'd definitely suggest it for the price, even if you don't have KU.

Tess has a crush on Brooke, the doctor she delivers packages almost every day. After a pizza accident they start spending time together and the rest, as they say, it's history.
A trip to the ER kind of sets everything in motion for all of them, including Tess's twins Dani and Davey.
It was a really nice book, the start of the Special Delivery series that I am currently reading.

Fun Romance
Brooke is an obstetrician and Tessa, a single mother of twins, delivers packages to the clinic where Brooke has her practice. The twists and turns they encounter as their romance develops are fun to read. My only complaint is that the copy editing is inconsistent. It is often fine and then there will be an obvious error such as “he” instead of “the”. Future versions should clean up those problems.

love is sneaky
There you are minding your own business, in this case it is the OB-Gyn business, making friends, then bam (!) you find yourself in love. Sneaky that love thing. The falling into it is the easy part. The realization and acceptance parts take a little work. Brooke and Tess make a very good couple, even before the realization part. I like the first part of this series, cannot wait to continue…

What a gentle love story. These two women clearly are meant for each other.
Ms JAArmstrong has developed a pair of lovely main characters who you can just feel that they are made for each other. The writing is sweet and the supporting characters have a proper role in the story. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I certainly do recommend this series and suggest you purchase the entire series to support the author.
