I enjoy learning more about the historical context for our holidays, and creative ways to fight against the commercialism that so often overtakes them. Martha has lots of practical advice to return days like Christmas, St. Valentine's Day, etc to deeply meaningful celebrations of what the Lord has done instead of the current garish displays of consumerism

Want to know how our holidays started? This wonderful little gem will tell you how our holidays began and will give you great ideas for celebrating them now. This is focused on christian families but would be wonderful for any mom. I highly recommend this book.

I wish I loved this book, but it's just pretty decent. I really wish there were more resources for celebrating the church year at home, but because there aren't this is a serviceable option.
