We long for God to be working in our church fellowship, and we know we're meant to be praying for our church. But often when it comes to it, we don't quite know what to ask for. Or we feel our requests to God are shallow, repetitive and stuck in a rut.
That's where this little book is designed to help. It will equip you to pray powerful prayers for your church familyprayers that really change things, because they're based on God's word.
Each spread takes a passage of Scripture and suggests 5 things to pray for an aspect of church life. Because when we pray in line with God's priorities as found in his word, our prayers are powerful and effective (James 5:16)and that's a truly thrilling prospect.
Use this book in any number of ways: work through it as part of your daily quiet time, or pick it up whenever someone you know is in particular need of prayer.
Anything that helps me to pray is welcome, and this book certainly did. A fantastic and very usable concept - a selection of bible passages plus 5 prayers points drawn directly from each text. What's not to like!? Helped me pray and helped me lead others in prayer.
This is an excellent prayer guide. It covers 21 different topics under four headings (Praying that my church would... Praying that I would... Praying for people in my church... Praying for the wider church...)
Each of the 21 topics find their focus around a passage of Scripture where five specific prayer points are offered.
I plan on using this not only to pray for our church, but as a guide for the pastoral prayers during our worship services. I will use a point a week which will end up taking about 2 years to work through this book. The side benefit, is that with handing out copies to the members, I hope and pray that they will begin to use this as well to pray for one another.
5 Things to Pray for Your Church by Rachel Jones is a handy little book The Church at West Creek gave to its congregation for Christmas. I pretty much read it all through in one sitting, but it is more of a reference book to be used daily. There are 21 general themes with five specific things to pray about for each that are based on passages of scripture. What a great little booklet with which to start off the New Year. I look forward to using this with my husband when we pray together and also seeing how our church becomes even better as a result of the whole congregation using this book to help increase the prayers for our church. (Karen's review)
What an exceptional little book on the huge topic of prayer. Taking a passage of Scripture, each chapter deals with a topic that's broken up into five subtopics as springboards for prayer. This would be a great book to keep nearby.
Well thought out and organized. Includes sections on the characteristics and responsibilities of the church as a whole, personal responsibilities to the church, specific people and groups within the church, and the wider Church.
This book is a great outline for a church to engage in structured corporate prayer together and then carry the prayer time home individually with church members continuing praying for the specific area agreed on for that week, month, etc.
I really like these little short "5 Things to Pray" guides and this one is no exception. Short enough to use on a daily basis, Rachel Jones' book is a fairly comprehensive guide to things to pray for your local church.
This is really helpful in focusing on the things that matter in the church. Based effectively on a range of scriptures it provides guidance for prayer.
