Alex Brandes attempts to decipher his brother's research notes, in hopes of stopping the deadly new disease Dr. Peter Brandes was suspected of creating
I read this book some time ago, picking it up because I was on a run of Michael Crichton-like scientific thrillers. It was beyond a disappointment... this book made me more angry than any book before or since. I am still bitter from the experience. Why? Well besides just the general silliness of the story-line (definitely a poor man's Crichton, indeed), a major sub-plot dealing with a romantic triangle fails to get resolved. As the end of the book was nigh, one of the female characters says something to the male protagonist (why they were vying for him, I couldn't tell you) along the lines of "this isn't junior high... you don't have to choose now which one of us you wish to be with." Well, guess what? He does! Because in a book you are supposed to tie that shit up! I have my own stupid life for things to not be resolved. It was unsatisfying, to say the least.
