A very good book. Quote: "Jesus did not consider heaven a place to be desired while we were lost. He left the heavenly courts for a life of reproach and insult, and a death of shame. He was who was rich in heaven's priceless treasure became poor, that through His poverty we might be rich. We are to follow in the path He trod." page 105 And my favorite: "There is a God above, and the light and glory from His throne rests upon the faithful mother as she tries to educate her children to resist the influence of evil. No other work can equal hers in importance. She has not, like the artist, to paint a form of beauty upon canvas, nor like the sculptor, to chisel it from marble. She has not, like the author, to embody a noble thought in words of power, nor, like the musician, to express a beautiful sentiment in melody. It it hers, with the help of God, to develop in a human soul the likeness of the divine." page 377/378
A beautiful review of the healing ministry of Jesus and the practical implications to daily living. I thoroughly enjoyed each chapter of this book because of the timeless quality of the information and the direct connections to scripture. Some of my favorite chapters included:
Ch. 19 In Contact with Nature Ch. 23 Diet and Health Ch 37. The False and True Education Ch. 43 A Higher Experience
Anyone looking for a deeper understanding of healing as found in scripture and its application to christian living should read this book. EGW makes the information accessible and consistently directs the reader to the source of all purpose - God whom we find through Christ Jesus.
Now I find myself sadly turning the last pages of this amazing, well written book on the ministry of healing through the life of Jesus. Ellen White is certainly an inspired writer who has a God given gift when it comes to illuminating biblical concepts in a very profound manner. This book had me engaged all the way through, writing copious notes and highlighting almost every other paragraph. In other words, this book was well worth the read.
The Ministry of Healing gave me fresh vigor, as I was encouraged to seek a deeper experience in my personal relationship with Christ; through prayer, study and service.
The book is a wonderful book that not only deals with health of the body but also health of the spiritual soul. A very powerful book despite it being written in 1905 the information was well ahead of her time especially the chapters that deals with narcotics and alcohol. It is very relevant for today.
I read the book seem interested. 1, every day washed ur hands keep clean and before u eat. 2. go to shower/bathtub and keep clean every day. 3. wash fruit and vegetable, u eat 4. what we need to do eat diet health. 5. avoid tobacco/cigar smoke 6. drink tea and coffee but are not effect. Tea is energy, rest, etc. Coffee is rest or energy. 7. drink cider for health 8. God's law follow who children hungry and naked by evil. drink heavy smoke, etc.
The Ministry of Healing offers tips on good health, such as exercise, diet, cheerfulness, and positive relationship with people and God. A personal relationship with God is essential to spiritual health. The book covers topics such as faith, healing, service, care of the sick, health principles, the home and knowledge.
This book covers a tremendous amount of ground and not too deeply. It's worth the read for the first chapters on Jesus and the final chapters on the followers of Jesus. White gives you very practical advice on how to live your life. And, I really mean that, not just a trite analysis glossing over the nitty gritty of our imperfect, sometimes shallow, and hurried lives. In this turbocharged, frenetic, and at times chaotic world, this tome begs you to stop. And, asks you to focus on Him, Jesus. This is what your life can be like.
In our turbocharged, frenetic, chaotic, world in which we hunger, thirst, seek, hurt, and fall backwards, this book begs us to stop. And, focus on Him, Jesus. This the only way we can slow our lives down enough to hear his voice. And, not only that, hear it and then follow it. White offers no excuses, doesn't sugarcoat anything, and says it like it is. Well, if you want to follow Christ, that is. It is the only way, she says. I am going to study the last three or four chapters again, in depth, for the wisdom they contain for my routine and daily life and relationships. Great book.
A great book that covers a lot of different areas. Only a small part of it was towards physicians. Encouraged the true missionary doctor to work hard to serve God but also his responsibility to give the best health care possible. Lots of great stuff about general health such as being outside, diet, exercise and other health habits. She also talks a fair amount about being good missionaries in our communities, how to treat and interact with church members, and the interaction between science and God's word. I really enjoyed most of the chapters.
Fascinating book. I had no idea what to expect from this book published in 1906. Style was different from modern writing but still clear and sometimes the difference made the ideas even clearer. Lots of scripture throughout and no detectable old fashioned ideas. It's worth reading again more closely.
So beautiful! If you search for health and wholesome life, this book has so many marvelous advice, whether it's exercise, vegetarian diet, water use, enjoying nature and fresh air or just cultivating peaceful, benevolent and trusting thoughts. Recommend it to everyone!
This was not what I was expecting, and it was long, so it took a long time to read. Did get a few gems, doctrinally had to take that with a grain of salt.
