Rate this book
I can’t believe he just shared that embarrassing story. Doesn’t he care about getting laughed at? How can he be so open and honest?

I’ve been asked questions like these when I’m sharing with people all the mistakes I’ve made throughout my life. I’ve learned from them; why can’t others too?

I’m not afraid to be honest if it means it can improve someone’s life.

In the past I had no confidence, only a couple friends, was overweight, shy, selfish, worried about everything, and felt life wasn’t fair.

This all changed once I developed a SIMPLE foundation. I now feel incredible, and it only took a week to completely change my life. That's right. Only ONE week!

It was the day after getting the SIMPLE foundation where I started looking forward to tomorrow where I knew that each day was going to be even better than the next. I had completely given up on myself, but after that week, I would never do that again.

I promise this foundation is what you’ve been waiting for. I promise that this foundation is SIMPLE. I promise you will immediately become more successful, likable and start achieving your dreams after reading this book.

I do believe we all have limitless potential and that’s why I wrote this book to help you realize your capabilities and get started in a week. To get the most out of life, we need to build our foundations and start building upon it right away.

The investment in yourself is the safest and most profitable investment you can make. Invest in yourself by reading this book and become more successful, likable and achieve your dreams!

Michael is a pharmacist, public speaker, entrepreneur, habitual bow-tie wearer and a best selling author on Amazon.

Michael graduated from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in May 2015 at the age of 24. He dramatically changed his outlook in his last year of pharmacy school with help from his teacher, Will.

He's hated reading most of his life and knows many feel the same way; that's why he wants to keep his books short and to the point (around 100 pages). He has also self-narrated his first two books and wants to be a public speaker and life coach.

A majority of his life he has struggled with his weight, social anxiety and the feeling of never being good enough. However, he's made radical changes and wants to share what he learns with others so they can improve their lives, too. His writing style has been described as "Raw" because of his willingness to be vulnerable to help readers learn from his mistakes.

Michael hoped his first book, One-Month Willpower: A Simple System For Life-Changing Transformation showed others how they can live incredible, fulfilling lives and reach their potential. He also wanted to give back to his country; All proceeds went towards the Wounded Warrior Project.

His next book: "One-Week Willpower: A Simple Foundation to Become More Successful, Likable and Achieve Your Dreams" came out November 2015 and provides readers a one-week guide to improve their lives using the SIMPLE acronym.

He is extremely excited about his third book: "Awesome in Hours: 7 Easily Obtainable Qualities, 35 Practical Take-Aways to Becoming an Awesome Individual." A book that teaches the AWESOME acronym in less than 2 hours.

A follow up to his first book "One Month Willpower" author Michael Unks brings readers another taste for more: ONE WEEK WILLPOWER. This book is a great addition to the first book [and is now a series?] because the book is broken up into a different topic that targets one day of the week.

Day 1: The first day is about "Selling Yourself": the chapter starts off with an entertaining story as the author talks about his fear of roaches and how this relates to the fears we buy into. This is a great start to the book because as Michael points out, our fears form limitations; and limitations make you smaller than you are. But if you challenge those fears, you can overcome the limitations and conquer your fears. My favourite quote from this section is: "if YOU SELL YOURSELF ON YOUR ABILITIES, YOU REALIZE YOU ARE ONE HUNDRED TIMES BIGGER THAN YOUR PROBLEMS AND CAN OVERCOME THEM.

Day 2: "I is for Integrity" is a great chapter with a strong message. I really liked the example that Michael used with lance Armstrong to define the meaning of integrity and what can happen when we lose it in the face of others. The author explains the opposite of integrity is being a hypocrite, and how we can lose integrity if we say one thing but do another.

Day3: "M is for Managing Your Priorities" gives readers the hard truth on the way that we use our time. Many people complain they have no time but waste it watching TV or playing games. Or worse, internet shopping. As the author suggests, we could be doing more productive activities such as exercising, donating to charity, showing appreciation to others and giving compliments,

Day4: "P is for Positive Attitude" and this is my favourite chapter by far. As Michael points out, having a positive attitude, although it doesn't guarantee anything is much better than having a negative one. By taking responsibility for your actions you can boost your positive attitude exponentially. As the author state, we should maintain our positive attitude even when things don't go our way, especially when things don't go the way we want them too. I like the author's take on putting the need of others before our own; it puts the "Positive Attitude" into higher perspective.

Day5: "L" is for loving God, Others and Yourself--a very inspirational piece of work, this section is about turning to a higher power, God or something that keeps love active. Michael explains the material as it relates to his own experiences so readers know that the material they are reading is genuine and not just "fluff".

Day6: "E is for Enthusiasm" begins with asking yourself the question: "What is the meaning of my life?" This chapter is about getting in touch with the passion that sparks enthusiasm and how you can create more enthusiasm so you can do the things you are meant to in your life. Definitely a critical step and lesson.

Day7: "Building on the Simple Foundation", the final part of the book, is a great theme to wrap up on. It is about deciding that you want it, that you want to change and make positive action a part of your life. By deciding, taking action and moving forward you can initiate momentum and have anything you want if you want it. Michael wraps up all the points nicely here: selling yourself, building integrity, managing priorities, a positive attitude, and building enthusiasm.

In a nutshell, this is a powerful little book full of wisdom, great anecdotes supported by examples of how the author has lived the principles he is teaching. I have already gifted this book to two people I know because it is a great "golden nugget" to have on your device when your struggling with a rough day. Your week couldn'T possibly go wrong if you practiced the strategies and prinicples in One-Week Willpower!

I can't believe the author is so young. He gives you a clear and easy set of instructions on how to change your life, making you more positive, enthusiastic, and inspired. He lays it all out for you with his acronym, SIMPLE. It only takes a week to build the foundation, on which you then build the life you seek and need to be happier and more successful. I am not easily impressed, but I was impressed by this book and by Michael Unks. I recommend that you buy this book and read it today. Get started on making the changes necessary to make your life better and more fulfilling. Authenticity is the best way to reach your goals. He lays it all out with personal stories and touches of humor. He is authentic. I'll say it again. Get the book and read it. A week from today you will already see results.

4/5

I like Michael's honesty and simple style of writing. Saying things so you can believe them (the power of affirmation) is a great concept - I hate and am scared of bugs so seeing that Michael was afraid of roaches shows that anyone can be scared of anyone and anything.

4/5 as I read this book after a little break and I forgot what the rest of the book had covered. :) providing a summary again at the end about SIMPLE would've also helped.

I also think the book had 1-2 typos. The audiobook I believe did not d/l for me, ether.

This book details a personal journey of transformation. The author developed the acronym SIMPLE for his six foundations to becoming a better person and to living a better life. The author provides numerous examples showing these principles in action in his own life. The examples are reinforced with several inspirational quotes. This book shows wisdom from an author who is only 24 years old.
