Half-Moon Hollow #5

Where the Wild Things Bite

Rate this book
Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Winthrop's job description. You know what isn't? Protecting her precious cargo from mid-flight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow...while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

Fortunately, Anna's dashing fanged companion Finn Palmeroy helps her fend off the attack, but not before their plane crash lands in the forest hundreds of miles from civilization. Great, now she's stranded with a priceless tome and a rakish vampire whose bedtime is fast approaching. Why does everyone want this book so badly, anyway? Anna just wants to get it to Jane before Finn decides to turn her into dinner-or sweep her off her feet. Okay, the second option is really tempting. But they're not out of the woods yet...

THE REVIEW

Why this book?

I love this series

What I thought

Molly Harper can do no wrong, I always know a Molly Harper book is going to be amazing . This was no exception. This book was entertaining and altogether fun. As for the characters they both had their moments where they got on my nerves, but they were likable most of the time. This might not be my favorite book of the series, but it had its moments. I only wish we got more romance it seemed like we only got some at the last part of the book. Overall I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see what's next from Molly Harper .

It isn't being paranoid to freak out if you see your small-plane pilot breaking the controls and then walking away with a parachute on his back. You are free to move about the plane and panic now.

If that wasn't bad enough, the pilot also tried to stab our heroine, Anna, on his way out. What, her dying in a fiery explosion in the woods isn't good enough for you? Sheesh! Talk about over-kill. It's like kicking someone in the groin on their way up the gallows steps. That'll teach 'em.

The other passenger in the plane is a vampire named Finn, whom we met in the last book. Finn saves Anna's life and they end up trudging through the woods together for a few days. So, you know, as books assure us: doing a death-march through the wilderness with no food, water, soap, or toothbrushes is a great way to fall in love. It's really romantic.

But, at least Anna recognizes the bad-breath potential of her situation. When she finally spots what may be some other people:

People who might have supplies or cell phones or even a spare Tic Tac?

Unfortunately, those people are trying to kill her. The wilderness is a pretty tough gig.

The character of Anna is a girl who is super neurotic, anxious, and a major germaphobe, so I didn't really feel a huge connection with her, but she was entertaining. I also hate camping or anything that has to do with "roughing it" like public restrooms, but I'm not a huge germaphobe. I have giant dogs. You get over germs pretty quickly when you have large, hairy, drooling beings that want to jump all over you. And that's just my husband. The dogs are pretty gross too.

Finn, her love-interest, is more like an anti-hero than a good-guy. He's got some pretty loose ideas of morality and a very shady past.

"So... you were con men?"

"I like to think of it as more like Robin Hood-style bandits who took riches and distributed them to the needy. But, in this case, we were the needy. We just cut out the middlemen."

"Ok, then, con men."

Finn is likable in the story, but he definitely lives up to his con man label many times. It's pretty hard to decide if we want Anna to trust him or stake him.

Yeah, that reminds me of Anna's big plans on eating once they get out of the wilderness:

..the largest, fattiest steak available. And mashed potatoes. And French fries. And a baked potato, swimming in butter. Basically, I would eat all the potatoes.

I do like her pro-potato stance. If she added in a few chocolate items, I would have added her to my girl tribe.

All in all, a very fun and humorous book.

I liked WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE because even though it takes place in the HALF MOON HOLLOW universe, and familiar characters pop-in, neither Anna or Finn are part of Jane Jameson’s gang, so it also provided a bit of a different spin on Molly Harper’s best-selling series. Most of the story took place in a forest as opposed to the usual small town setting which added to this installment’s unique appeal as well.

The author once again sucked me in with a few bookish elements, and by leaving the heroine stranded in a remote local with a dashing vampire. Unfortunately for Winthrop, Palmeroy’s no cabana boy, and the backwoods of Kentucky are a poor substitute for a deserted island. On top of putting their survival skills to the test, there’s also a crazy pilot and a group of shapeshifters after Anna’s priceless package.

All of Molly Harper’s protagonists have their quirks, and Anna was no different with her agoraphobia, and the subsequent anxiety that accompanies this disorder, not to mention she’s a bit of a germaphobe. So, crashing into no man’s land was pretty much Anna’s worst case scenario. I feel like a meanie admitting that I got a kick out of her misery, but I really did enjoy watching her come out of her shell when confronted with her worst fears.

Finn was a complicated character; on one hand he saved Winthrop from death by plane, and several more times from those that are hunting her. However, he’s also pretty darned sketchy. Jane doesn’t like him, he’s had run-ins with the council, and his loyalties change faster than the tide. Anna possibly ending up as his dinner is the lesser evil considering all of the black marks against him. Still, he’s not all bad.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE was a perfect fit for Molly Harper’s HALF MOON HOLLOW series.

Anna who is more the stay at home and be a hermit type, finds herself flying to Half Moon Hollow to deliver a very rare and very old book about supernatural creatures. Little does she know, there are a number of groups who want the book and they're the sort of groups who think crashing her plane to get it isn't such a bad idea.

She finds herself in the wilderness with Finn, a vampire who is also probably after the book. But with the sorriest bunch of redneck shifters also hunting them, they team up to get to civilisation and escape the woods.

description

Where the Wild Things Bite is another entertaining, dare I say it comical romantic adventure from Molly Harper, this one set in the backwoods of Kentucky. If I have a criticism it's a small one. The first act with Anna and Finn doing their best Bear Grylls was a little longer than it needed to be and the final act could have been expanded. But that's only a small thing and the book was all in all a lot of fun.

Many thanks to Pocket Books and Edelweiss for providing me with this ARC

I have no complaints. Funny, interesting, entertaining. Well, there was the question about bungee cords that came after that seemed out of place like something was added, but that question/conversation wasn't adjusted in editing. Outside of that, I thoroughly enjoyed. The narration was fantastic as well.

I could just about repeat the review of the previous book in this series just with a different plot summary.

Anna is a bibliographer who is taking a rare and priceless book that she's just authenticated back to Jane Jameson in Half-Moon Hollow via a small plane. The only other people on the plane are the pilot and a handsome vampire, which presents a problem when the pilot sabotages the controls, dons a parachute and demands that Anna hand over the book. From there we get a plane crash and an extended hike through wilderness for Anna and the vampire Finn pursued by the people who want the book.

Anna is wonderfully neurotic and snarky (like pretty much all of Harper's heroines) and the comedy flows freely. If you've read this far into the series you won't be surprised by any of that. There's a definite formula to these books and following that formula makes for a pleasant quick read that's often hilarious.

Where the Wild Things Bite was a fun romp through the horrors of camping in Kentucky with a bookworm heroine and a sexy, yet shady vampire hero being chased after some backwoods shifters with nefarious plans.

Fans of the author/narrator pairing of Harper and Ronconi will be fully entertained by the audio production of  Where the Wild Things Bite .

This is fifth in a series and one with lots of self-referencing. I recommend reading them in order and, further, that you start with the Jane Jameson series while you're at it.

I love Molly Harper's books as a general rule. So it's no surprise that I liked this one. Anna's a bit of a throwback to Jane in terms of personality (you can, indeed, see why they get along so well), so that's always fun. She has her own raft of "issues", though, and Finn as male lead didn't really work for me. He's always been a manipulative jerk and he's still that, here. It doesn't help that he . And while he explains it glibly enough, it was still self-serving and manipulative and I don't really buy that he's changed at all, really.

So this was on the low end of my Harper enjoyment, coming in at 3½ stars that I'm rounding to 4 because the laugh-out-loud banter was still a treat.

A note about Steamy: There's one and a half explicit sex scenes, which is the middle of my steam tolerance for a story this short. I couldn't help feeling like it was expected, and, given the protagonists, it kind of was. Finn is still who he is, though, so it didn't work emotionally, so there's that.

This book is a delight from the very first page. Molly Harper knows how to bring the characters to life, give them humorous and quirky traits with descriptions that have you visualizing every action and every person involved. You can’t help but be engaged and fall in love with her writing and her unique stories. Her imagination is amazing and I’m always impressed with the flow and fun that she puts into her stories.

Even though the paranormal segment is not normally my reading pleasure, for the most part, there are several authors that have sucked me in just like Molly Harper has. I now look forward to reading one of her stories as I am in a happier place when I close that cover.

If you’re looking for a fun and exciting read with a touch of romance and a whole lot of energy, you have to check out this new release as well as other books by Molly Harper.

I had fun reading this. Molly Harper's humorous paranormal romance are some of my favorite "comfort" reads. This one had the humor I expect, steamy romance, crazy vamps, funky shifters, and quirky humans.

In this we have Anna and Finn. Finn is a shady con man, Anna works with old books about paranormal. She and Finn are on a plane that doesn't make it to its destination. They end trekking through a forest while being chased by a few normal people and some not so normal people. Anna is a germaphobe, so the setting isn't ideal for her. She is nervous about Finn putting her on the menu. Finn is fascinated by Anna.

Recommended to anyone who has followed this series. If you are a newbie to these books it may be better to start from the beginning, but I believe that this could be okay as a standalone. There are some cameo appearances from some previous characters. Some of the "fun" may be missed if you haven't read their books.

There are some things that are just meant to go together. Peanut and jelly. Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. And most definitely Amanda Ronconi narrating a Molly Harper book. There is just something so perfect about this pairing, and I'm always pleased with the resulting audiobook production. Therefore, I was pretty excited to listen to Molly Harper's newest Half Moon Hollow book, Where the Wild Things Bite, and I enjoyed every minute of the audiobook.

In typical Molly Harper fashion, Where the Wild Things Bite starts off with an adorable heroine making me giggle. This time it's Anna Winthrop, who is delivering a very special book to Jane Jameson in Half Moon Hollow. Anna has the last leg of her travel left, and it requires her to board a very small plane that will take her to Hall Moon Hollow. And the only other passenger on the flight is Finn Palmeroy, who just happens to be a vampire. When things take a bad turn and the plane crashes in the wilderness, Anna and Finn have to work together to survive. I adore the whole forced togetherness trope in romance, and it's done really well here.

Anna is just the most loveable and fabulous heroine. I loved her from page one, and never stopped. One of the strongest things about this novel is Anna herself, who you just can't help but love. Anna definitely has some issues, mainly anxiety, but this just made her all the more relatable. Finn isn't your typical hero, though. He definitely tends to fall in the gray area with his actions sometimes, and I will admit he wasn't my favorite. I didn't hate him, but he isn't necessary the kind of hero that I fall for. However, he was hilarious, and Anna really did end up liking him, and I totally respect her decisions.

Where the Wild Things Bite is such a fun, fast-paced story. I couldn't put the book down, and read it in two days. The humor in this book is just fantastic. In fact, the humor and the wonderful heroine are why I love Where the Wild Things Bite so much, and Molly Harper's books in general. It really made me want to actually read the Jane Jameson books. If you haven't given Molly Harper's books a try, I highly recommend them, especially in the audiobook format. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

Quirky and outlandish, Where the Wild Things Bite was a welcome respite from my normal reading material.

Anna has deliver a book, how hard could that be. When your plane crash lands into enemy territory it might be harder than you think. No food, no water and a sexy dream of a vampire makes for some exciting reading.

Social awkward, Anna is relatable and fresh with odd ball antic, punctuated with a hot, hunky vampire make this a fun, paranormal romance that just hit the spot.

The voice of the heroine is what made this book so fun. She was insecure and afraid of her own shadow but hilariously fun in her inner thoughts. There were vampires here and their mythos wasn't explained at all except I guess they were of the normal undead, can't go out in sunlight type. There were shifters and werewolves which were different things. And I wasn't really buying the set up of the shifter types. Still the story was a fun way to pass a few hours.

Favorite Quote: If there’s a lesson you can take from vampires, it’s “take what resources you can, when you can, even if it’s in a less than ethical manner.” We call this “survival of the sneakiest.”

The fifth installment in Molly Harper’s silly, sexy, and adorably addictive Half Moon Hollow series will leave readers cheering and laughing out loud at the pairing of a shiftless vampire with an extreme germaphobe who are trapped in the wild together with no food, no water, and lots of dirty surfaces. Though part of a series; the setting, main plotline, and protagonists are relatively new ensuring this can be read as a standalone that newcomers and diehard fans alike will enjoy.

Readers of this series will remember Finn Palmeroy as the vampire who answered Libby Stratton’s Craigslist ad in The Single Undead Mom’s Club. A long time con man… errr… con vampire, Finn is up to his old tricks in here but meets his match in newcomer Anna Winthrop. Anna is an archivist whose collegiate career was snatched out from under her by an unscrupulous ex-boyfriend. Having rerouted her career into authentication of supernatural manuscripts, she now has a book in her possession that must be delivered back to Jane Jamison. A book that could change the landscape of the supernatural world. When she is attacked by the pilot on her flight to Half Moon Hollow, Anna finds herself “saved” by a vampire named Finn. Lost in the woods, miles away from home and humanity, Anna will have to pull up her big girl panties, toss out the antibiotic gel, and decide if she is ready to rejoin the messiness called life.

I adore Molly Harper. From her contemporaries to her paranormals, Harper writes rich, engaging, adventurous stories filled with strong-willed females and smexy prickly alphas. Where the Wild Things Bite continues this tradition with a delightfully light-hearted paranormal romance that uses self-deprecating humor, personable characters, and some off the wall plotlines to ensure you won’t want to put it down. Her characters are hysterically eccentric and provide much eye rolling and snorts of laughter as you slip smoothly into their lives. The relatively straightforward storyline along with its invigorating narrative makes for a fun fast read.

Anna is hilarious with her multitudes of idiosyncrasies, ingrained suspicious nature, and raging monologues. Raised by a manipulative, narcissistic mother and an uninterested father, Anna’s struggle to break free of the bonds her family has placed on her has only served to make her even more introverted. She trusts no one, especially men, and sees Finn more as the enemy than a fellow survivalist. She is focused on her mission and determined nothing will keep her from completing it.

I was trapped in the bluegrass version of Deliverance. With a vampire.

Worst. Case. Scenario.”

Finn is the classic bad boy whose con artist nature is more a habit than a need. A former grifter from the early 1900s, his transition to vampire was the direct result of one of his scams. Death, or nondeath as the case may be, wasn’t a detriment for him but merely opened up new ways for him to scam people. Anna touches something inside of him that was opened by his interactions with Libby and that scares him to death. Witty, handsome, and charmingly slimy, even the reader is somewhat distrustful of him. And we soon learn we should always trust your instincts.

The slow evolution of Finn and Anna’s relationship is a delightful journey punctuated with humor, sarcasm, and some hot and steamy sexual chemistry. Wandering through the woods with a hungry vampire keeps Anna on edge as she waits for Finn to pounce. And pounce he does but only in ways that make life much more interesting. Harper does a fabulous job of fleshing out Finn and Anna, peeling back their layers and showing us that they are the perfect couple if they can just get out of their own heads for a moment.

“Admit I was right.” His voice was a smug tickle against the shell of my ear.

“OK, OK, we needed a bath,” I confessed. “We were getting a little gamey.”

“You know, a lesser vampire would take advantage of the situation,“ he said, ghosting his hand over my bare belly in the water. “Moonlight, nudity, your tender gratitude.”

I rolled, treading water so close to him my feet bumped against his shins. “I think you are overestimating the tenderness of my gratitude.”

“Am I?”

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but I don’t like you that much.”

You know, you’re right about a lot of things,“ he told me. “But not that. You like me plenty.”

A rambunctious cast of supporting characters- from the wild and crazy supes chasing Anna and Finn to the “unusual” bed and breakfast owner-will leave you literally howling as the conflict begins to straighten itself out and you see exactly what is at stake here. Dick and Jane (I love when these two get together) arrive with help to save the day and only add to the overall outrageousness of the situation. A few twists and turns keeps you guessing as you watch this comedy of errors play itself out.

If you’re looking for a funny, sexy paranormal romance with a dash of mystery and suspense that will leave thoroughly entertained or for a good place to dip your toes in this world, then I highly recommend picking up Molly Harper’s newest Half Moon Hollow’s adventure-Where The Wild Things Bite.

It has been a while since I have been in this world and I can tell you it felt like I never left. Yes love the snark and the humour you don’t get this in many other books.

Jane and Dick make appearances. So you get the best of both series.

I like that the humans are always different either the vamps special powers don’t work on them or the humans chance the vamps options.

The narration is fantastic as always I truly can’t see anyone else narrate this series.

Molly Harper is great at the supernatural rom-com. I loved her Mystic Bayou series and am working my way through the rest of her books.

In Where the Wild Things Bite, rare book appraiser Anna is delivering a very special book to her boss Jane in Half-Moon Hollow. However, with rumors about what information this book contains about shifters, many people are after it, putting Anna in extreme danger. Her pilot is willing to crash the small plane to get the book, and her fellow plane crash victim turns out to be also hired to steal the book. Can Anna survive being trapped in the woods with a vampire con man and a family of book thieves? Or will they kill her before she gets to safety?

Anna and Finn have a lot of chemistry. She likes him, even knowing she can't trust him, and he protects her, even if it means failing at his job. Despite their inauspicious start, I think they might make their relationship work.

I'm still going to auto-buy pretty much anything from the Jane Jameson or Half Moon Hollow series - that's a given. It's also going to be in audio format because there is nothing like hearing Amanda Ronconi nail those one-liners and quips, she really makes Molly Harper books shine. That being said... I liked it very much, but it's not my favorite from the series. I guess I've only had one other book to really get to know Finn - and I seriously got the heebee-geebies and douche vibes from him in the last book, so it's harder to get all fired up about a character I really don't know all that well. Previous books - we know Gigi, we know Jane, we know Andrea, we know Iris, hell, we even know Ophelia... but Finn? Douche (my opinion) in one book, the male lead in another? It's a harder pill for me to swallow this time around, though I still enjoyed it overall.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I always love when I get a new installment from Molly Harper. She is a favorite author of mine. Tie her with Amanda Ronconi as the narrator and I’m in heaven. They are a perfect pair to make me laugh.

This story is a bit different from previous books in the Half Moon Hollow series. While this is not the first time we’ve had characters who are not part of Jane Jamison’s gang, this is the first time we’ve had them outside of Half Moon Hollow. Jane and the gang do have appearances in this story, but not as much as what we normally see. That doesn’t make the story any less fun.

Anna Winthrop has a very rare and priceless book that she need to return to Jane. She had it to authenticate it was the real deal. Anna, who is a bit of an introvert and germaphobe, decides that this package is too important to just ship it back, so she is going to deliver it in person. She goes from using antibacterial wipes to clean the area around her on the plane, to trudging through the backwoods of Kentucky after her crazy pilot crashes the plane.

Finn Palmeroy is not a new character in the Half Moon Hollow series. He isn’t very well liked though. He is a bit of a conman. He was a conman in life and that didn’t change after he was turned into a vampire. It just gave him a new group of people to con. He is also not much of a woodsman. He is out to help Anna Winthrop through the backwoods of Kentucky and is going to help her deliver her package back to Jane. I’m not a big fan of the “men who change because of a woman” trope. I just don’t believe that it is a real thing for the most part, but then this is a book about vampires, so I can’t gripe too much about realism. I do think he cares about her, so maybe he will try to be a better person so as not to disappoint her. Who knows.

This book was fully of the sarcasm and shenanigans that I expect with any Molly Harper story. This series is one that never ceases to put me in a good mood. It is a little bit of action, some romance and full of chuckle worthy humor. I always love my time with the gang from Half Moon Hollow.

I was trapped in the bluegrass version of Deliverance. With a vampire.
Worst. Case. Scenario.

Narration
This is one of my favorite audiobook teams. I don’t read any of Molly Harper’s books, I must listen because Amanda Ronconi does such an amazing job with the narration. She really brings out the snark in Molly Harper’s stories. If you haven’t tried Molly Harper’s stories on audio, I can’t recommend it enough. Amanda Ronconi is perfect for this series.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy.

An improvement over the THE SINGLE UNDEAD MOMS CLUB, WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE starts to bring the Half-Moon Hollow series back to where I want it to be - funny, lighthearted and a nice little escape read.

Since WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE took place mostly away from Half-Moon Hollow, the reader isn't inundated with characters from previous books (though there's a little of that at the end). We get the opportunity to know Anna and Finn on their own merits, not on what we might have known about them from previous books. Though Anna is a new character to the series, Finn has appeared before, and I'll be honest, I couldn't remember much about him. As a result, WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE felt a little like a fresh new start to the series.

There were some things that bugged me a bit about the book though - Anna's seeming knowledge of how to survive in all kinds of situations didn't manage to keep her from making some stupid decisions. And there were a lot of surviving in the woods type scenes, the kind of thing that felt a little to me like I was watching Survivor on TV, and just couldn't look away. Which is fine, but also felt seriously implausible. Basically, not only did I have to suspend disbelief that this was a world where vampires existed, but I had to suspend disbelief that this was a world where a practically agoraphobic archivist could make it in nature without any supplies (and manage to keep hold of the book the whole time? Come on).

But, all that being said, I enjoyed Anna and Finn's romance. And I liked Finn having to earn his redemption, and I thought the final scene was amusing. There were a lot of funny high points in WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE, and if you're new to the series, this might be a good place to start since there's minimal knowledge of the previous characters of the series. WHERE THE WILD THINGS BITE definitely fits the bill for a cute paranormal romance, and I am looking forward to seeing the improvement in the series continue.

My Review:
Overall: 4.25
Performance: 4.75
Story: 4.00

Flat out, this is a series that I've enjoyed from the very beginning. I know going into it what exactly I'm going to get with this series...Molly Harper's distinctive, wonderful sarcastic wit, two MC's who probably don't get along...at all, and a romance that keeps me smiling as it slowly evolves and develops. This latest installment to the series did not disappoint in any of these aspects.

Anna is trying to deliver a valuable book to Jane Jamison, but before she gets a chance, her plane crashes...oh, and yeah, the pilot kind of did that on purpose because he wants that book. Also on the plane with Anna is Finn, who happens to be a vampire. Oh, and he also happens to be her savior since he saves her during the plane crash by throwing her out of the plane...no, really, that's the way it happened and it sets up just one of many issues that Anna has with Finn and his treatment of her throughout the progression of this novel.

Unfortunately, Finn isn't quite the good guy he appears to be at first and this causes a few areas of contention between him and Anna.

I liked what the background for the valuable book offered to this story. I literally laughed out loud at Anna's forcing the shifters (and pretty much everyone else, too) to see how completely idiotic they're all being about the whole thing. It was a typical Molly Harper twist that makes her books so good.

This story had appearances by all the beloved characters that make up Half-Moon Hollow and I love that, too. It's like going to a family reunion where all your favorite family members are there. It's just fun to touch base with all of them. I liked it.

I thoroughly enjoy Amanda Ronconi's narration. I honestly cannot imagine listening to a Molly Harper book on audio without Amanda Ronconi's distinctive southern drawl. She does such an amazing job on these books.

3.5 Sneaky Vampire Stars!!

This book centers around Anna, a neurotic germaphobe librarian who is delivering a rare book to a Client, and Finn, a vampire that is kind of shady and not very trustworthy. Finn attempts to make small talk during a doomed flight with Anna....but she isn't having any part of Finn. All the sudden the pilot goes crazy, and she's forced to jump from plane with Finn or crash!

Eventually Anna learns to trust Finn unfortunately Anna has every reason to not trust Finn, but he soon gains her trust....unfortunately Finn isn’t being quite honest about his motives. This isn’t a favorite of the series but still very much worth reading. It was great catching up to our favorite Hollow couples along their partners.

* Amanda Ronconi once again narrates and does a FABULOUS job!!!!

I can't believe it. Molly Harper actually redeemed and made me like Finn!
Fun, action and accident filled addition to the Half Moon Hollow universe. Recommended!

Where the Wild Things Bite was unique in that it mainly featured two previously unfamiliar characters and their story took place mostly outside of Half-Moon Hollow. Anna Winthrop is an OCD, phobiac (apparently not a word, but should be, IMO) who is off to deliver an extremely rare book to Jane in Half-Moon Hollow. On her flight there others wanting the book give her wildly-out-of-comfort-zone-adventure a smashing start. Her only companion on this Lost in the Woodlands of Who-Knows-Where is a vampire, Finn Palmeroy, who insists he was saving her life by throwing her/jumping with her out of the doomed plane.

Their story - trekking through the woods - was a good read because of Anna's many phobias. I felt their romance, however, was lacking. The two were good characters and separately I was interested in their stories, but I thought their pairing was a miss.

Nevertheless, I love this series and I'm looking forward to reading Big Vamp on Campus and The Accidental Sire (due out in July).
