Chiara Luce, a girl full of vitality, but, suddenly, she fell gravely ill. And, strangely, moment by moment, a new life full of light began to unfold for her. She was eighteen when she died, yet she had lived to the full. On 25 September 2010, Chiara Luce was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI and is now known as 'Blessed Chiara Badano'.
Excelente, ultra recomendado.
I read the English translation of this short biography of Chiara Luce (her name given to her by Chiara Lubich founder of the Focolare)/Chiara Badano. To fully appreciate this biography I think you need some awareness of the lives of Chiara Lubich and Chiara Luce, as well as aspects of the Focolare. Chiara Luce's spirituality developed significantly by the time she was 18, close to her death; where in the moments leading to her death, and before death, she experienced almost total communion with God. Hence the expression she 'lived life to the full'. Where understood, the biography has an extraordinary impact on the spirituality of others.
A small book that I read during that first trimester blehness!
2 stories stand out to me still, several months later: 1) Chiara's mom entrusting the forming of Chiara's will to God, since he gave free will to us as a gift. We pray this over Peter every night now!
2) When, at the end of her life, Chiara refused pain medicine to be able to offer her suffering to Jesus. When she couldn't say much in her agony, she would just say again and again, "for you, Jesus." I took this as well on the especially difficult days of pregnancy. For you, Jesus!
Wow Chiara Luce, had a very short life, cruelly ended by cancer. The life she lived was one of peace and maturity far beyond her years. Her relationship, with Jesus and the church is inspirational.
This book was lovely and makes me want to be a better person. The writing itself was nothing fantastic, but the story was beautiful. I loved reading about Chiara.
Chiara was a young girl growing up in Italy. Vibrant, joyful, Catholic. She became involved in the Focolare Movement and decided to live her life loving Christ Forsaken.
She discovered she had cancer and her response was simply, "If you want this Jesus, then so do I."
She died at 18, after serious pain and failed treatments, but her life had not been wasted. She was beatified in 2010.
