Author note – this story was inspired by a number of true events and addresses many difficult issues, therefore it is out of step with the other ‘mice short stories’ in the series, as it does not have a “happy ending” and is not an easy read.
I honestly hope that no one connects (through their own experiences) with the scenes depicted in this story, but I expect that (unfortunately) many people will.
