The Sultan's Bed

Rate this book
Every day in court, divorce attorney Mariah Kennedy pitted herself against rich, ruthless men...and usually won. Her new neighbor, Zayad Al-Nayhal, with his arrogance and air of command, was exactly the type she'd learned not to trust. But his dark good looks and irresistible charm soon chipped away at her best defenses.

The Sultan of Emand was in California to deal with a family crisis. He was not here to indulge his attraction to the headstrong - and sensual - Mariah. Yet neither could resist temptation for long. Too soon, their affair demanded a commitment Zayad had never before been able to give...but letting Mariah go was not an option.

This story wasn't bad, it just wasn't all that exciting. The heroine got on my nerves a bit with her cynical attitude toward men and the hero needed to be more honest with the heroine. I would have liked to see how the heroine adjusts to her new life, she hadn't even met the hero's son. Overall, it was just an okay read, not bad but could have been better.

Breaks

It was a good storyline with likeable characters. My only suggestion is that you need a break between paragraphs when time or perspective change .

Example: And when he slipped his arm to her waist and she fell farther back, he took her nipple into his mouth, pushed her into release, then followed her, exploding into the predawn air.

A delight! Zayad was súch a sweetheart, I loved him.

However, they aren’t really in the sultans’ bed, they are in her bed?

Mariah Kennedy
Zayad Al Nayhal

Zayad travels to the United States on a mission to find out about and bring back a sister he never knew about. When he gets to California and is staying at a house in the backyard of the sister, Mariah runs into him, literally when she is trying to find her keys. Mariah is a lawyer and after 4 years still had laid off men, due to her ex-husband. This was a quick and good read, I liked both characters

Mariah is a divorce attorney who's a bit soured on love and romance. So when Zayad shows up next door and sweeps her off her feet - quite literally - she's more than a little hesitant. But the powerfully sexy businessman is difficult to say no to, and Mariah's feelings for him soon overwhelm her fears. But she doesn't realise that Zayad isn't what she thinks - he's the Sultan of Emand, and he's in America to find his half-sister, who happens to be Mariah's roommate...

I really should have written this review as soon as I finished the book, but I've been neglecting my reviews for a month or more, and now I find that I can't remember the darn thing. I remember that I liked the book. I remember a couple of gorgeous, sensual scenes - one at a spa, and another at a beach in a cave. I remember that I liked both hero and heroine quite a lot, particularly the way they were respectful towards each other even when arguing.

But I don't remember the rest of the book.

I think that fact probably says more about how I feel towards it than anything else I can write. It was sweet, sexy, and unmemorable. I don't think I'll hang onto it - I'm moving abroad and REALLY have to downsize my bookshelves - but it was a nice, fun read. (I think.) 3 stars.

I don't know if it was just the mood I was in or the book itself but I just couldn't get into this book. Usually I love stories like this but this time it just didn't gel with me. I did finish the book so truthfully I think it was the kind of mood I was in as if I have a book which doesn't appeal at all I usually abandon it after 3 or 4 chapters so there must have been something that made me not give up on it.
