The author traveled to South Africa to interview surviving members of Murray's family in order to produce this biography of the 19th-century missionary statesman, revivalist, evangelist, pastor, and one of the best-loved and most widely read writers on faith and spirit-filled living.
This was a wonderful and engaging read about the great preacher, writer, and missionary Andrew Murray. The research of the author was deep and she was clearly a large fan of Andrew Murray and his family due to her expansive biographical snippets about different roles and influences that he has during his years. My main critique was that there were a few too many chapters about each individual stage of life and role that made it feel a bit more topical than chronological or genre related. Either way, I hope that I can love a life even 10% as spiritually attuned as Andrew Murray. His absolute surrender to God's day by day will for his life and endurance to obey the call is inspiring!
