This was such a great ending to Hayden and Hartley’s story. Though it definitely didn’t come without its struggles. Hades goes missing, his domain is stolen, and Hartley is left reeling. But she doesn’t let it tear her down. She knows what she wants, who she loves, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what was stolen. Hartley grows a lot in this book and really comes into her own, as did Hades. Through Hartley he sees himself in a different light, and I think it goes a long way in helping him overcome his own self-hatred and self-sabotaging tendencies. She’s good for him and he is good for her.
Hera and Zeke were, well, Hera and Zeke, but I loved the way Reese was portrayed in this book. He redeemed himself and became a great ally to those who needed him. I found all his scenes to be fun and entertaining.
Overall, I think this was a great series and I can’t wait to read more books by this amazing author.
This isn't my favorite series by Ms. Colon. Its a tad too high school for me. But of course it is. I'm an old lady at 51. However if you're looking fun a quick fun and funny read, its still good. Just a tad bad language and pg13 rated sex. Most teen's parents would be ok with their teens reading it. I wouldn't but mine are now adults. And since I'm old I can ready much worse. Lol. So I highly doubt this series, like all Ms. Colon writes, will offend even the most conservative mothers. Enjoy.
So sad to see this series come to an end. There were so great action in the one and Hartley finds her inner badass (more than she already was). Hayden does go through some pretty rough stuff but really like the God of the Underworld can't take a hit and keep going, please. And as always Zeke will never give up and at least he cares enough for Hartley to be happy. A love story of legends.
Wow! I can honestly say I'm addicted Colons books. I do wonder if their will be another book eventually. If not that's fine. But I do look forward to more from this author!
I think this was my favorite of the four. They're all fantastic, but there's a darkness in this one and a maturity. Hartley is growing up at the rapid pace. She has to. She can no longer be just a high school girl who has fallen for the god of the underworld. Now she has to take an active role in the world she's chained to.
Hades is missing and an enemy of Zeus has taken his place. As we come into the story, the characters are still reeling from the events of the last book, namely everything Zeus did. He betrayed them, but now they need his help. Another old enemy comes into play in the form of Reese, aka Ares, the mischievous god from the second book. He was probably my favorite character here. He redeemed himself two fold and provided many of the light moments. Hartley needed him.
This story had less to do with Hades and more to do with Hartley coming into her own power. She was the real star of this book. I didn't like her in the last one, but here she was perfect. It was up to her to save the underworld and save the man she loved. It was such a far cry from the damsel in distress theme you see in a lot of books. Here, the damsel had her own power, her own strength, and it was enough.
********Spoiler Alert**************** I loved this series. I love Greek mythology and the Greek Gods. I was hooked from the begining! I really liked the fact that Hades/Hayden was depicted in the story as the "good guy" but still had a bad boy persona. I also loved Hartleys character and the fact that she was Hades/Haydens equal in the story and not a helpless damsel in distress. Really great read all the way through!!
