An epic story continues in Ravens, the second offering of the New Harbor Witches series..."fast-paced action with significant plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat."
Sisters Dane and Penny have been honing their witchy powers in the months since the capture of their most dangerous and powerful nemesis. Now, enemies, new and old, conspire against the Balance Clan in a generations-old battle between good and evil. While some lives are lost, some will rise from the ashes.
Rayna and Roman Murdock have ascended to the rank of High Witches and now control the Power Clan. Roman, with his more gentle soul, struggles with inner turmoil as he witnesses, time and again, the cold brutality of his twin, Rayna.
Simon and Gemma, with the help of new friends Dr. Veronica Hill and Jonna Clarke, must confront a three hundred-year-old secret to ensure the future strength and well-being of not only their family and the entire Balance Clan, but of the world itself. Harsh truths and new realities serve as reminders that it is not the blood in our veins that defines us. We are the actions we take and the decisions we make.
"To me, failing to learn to use the tools one’s craft shows laziness and disrespect for the reader. There are, however, no issues of that sort where Baeli’s writing is concerned. It’s rare to these days to find a writer whose style is technically so nearly perfect, but who’s also a damned good storyteller. I doubt if she is even capable of writing poorly." ~W. Spice
Even after 36 novels, I always try to write the sort of book I would want to read. My favorite thing to do is take a common trope and turn it on its ear. Where you expect a zig, I give you a zag. In my pages, you will find strong female characters, ethical dilemmas, and realistic storylines often filled with adventure and intense pacing, tempered by witty dialog, and happy endings. All are hallmarks of my work.
As a Bestselling Genre-Hopping Indie Author, I’ve enjoyed a sales position in the top 5% of lesbian writers, but I write crossover and mainstream fiction and have authored 26 nonfiction books, as well. All 36 of my FemFic novels have been bestsellers in the genres of domestic suspense, domestic thriller, women's adventure, romantic suspense, apocalyptic, speculative, lesfic, lesbian romance, and science fiction. I’m also a mixed-media artist (mostly clay and abstract painting) and former performing singer-songwriter with over 200 songs.
My wife, Melissa Walker-Baeli, is a budding author in her own right, and we have several co-writing projects coming soon. We live with two dogs, (Noodle and Whatnot) and two cats, (Poppet and Chicklet) on ten acres in the gorgeous Northwoods of Michigan.
A really entertaining read with a well-researched plot. The love story was great as well and I would love to read more books by this author. Overall a great read and I would absolutely recommend this book.
I loved Book 1 of the series, Keepers. The characters, the magic of the story, their history, and the location setting. Book 2 didn’t hold my interest as much as the first one. I found myself losing interest in some parts and wanting it to move faster. That said though, Baeli is such a creative and imaginative writer, which is why I give it closer to a 4-star. The concept is fascinating. Wouldn’t we all love to have the ability to do some of the magic contained within the pages of fiction? Aha, you thought I was going to give you a hint, huh! Nope, no spoilers. You get to choose your own. Just sayin’.
SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: established couple, not a romance, out of your comfort zone, non-human characters UNICORN: twins, more than two POVs (possibly other categories)
After reading all of the way through to the last page of the book, there was mention of a third book in the series that was supposed to be in the works back in 2016. Amazon usually asks about reading the next book in a series, but that didn't happen this time. 😞 I enjoyed the series not only for the genre, but also for how it tied actual historical events or people to significant generations of the two clans. My favorite things mentioned in book two were Tesla and the Council of Nicea. This was a great duology, especially if you love stories with witches, magic, a splash of some romances, and historical easter eggs.
😠FRUSTRATED😠 Having read the 1st 2 books in this series. Then reading where they have eliminated Andre. Then to see that you have resurrected Andre. I have become frustrated with the story. Because you already have created another enemy in Rayna ! So I don't understand why you would bring back Andre ?
