My first impression of this book was that it was weak, bland, flavorless... Either of the three applies.
There was absolutely no chemistry between the main characters, they feel more like a mix between complete strangers and siblings, and that doesn’t change throughout the book. There is no emotion, no build up. They go from strangers to lovers, to I love you’s, to “we can’t have a long distance relationship” in seventy short pages.
I didn’t pay anything for this book and I still want my money back. It ends in a cliffhanger to get you to buy the next book in the series, but I wouldn’t read it if you paid me.
She ends it with sudden threats, a bloody screwdriver and a possible kidnapping, but instead of making the book more interesting it only makes it worse.

The sex is described more like a meditation. I’m sure “transcendent” is used at one point. It feels more tantric and Zen like, makes me wonder if the author is a virgin.

To the death threat taped on her door Katelyn reacts: “If people took these threats seriously there wouldn’t be so many journalists making a living off of situations where people don’t.”
This is a direct quote taken from the book seconds after she finds the note.

Then there’s several god-awful generalizations and prejudices
*Every girl love horses - Sure, on a sandwich
* Her dad was gay and died of AIDS
* It wasn’t the kind of place to take your girlfriend, unless she was bisexual - This is a direct quote about a “beer-and-wing joint”

His maybe ex-girlfriend drops by at his apartment for the first time during their two months relationship (something he was relieved by until then) and he doesn’t wonder what she wants? She calls and he doesn’t answer.
Next day he learns about the threat she got and this is his reaction ”Jesus,” I muttered. “That’s timing.” I glanced at my watch. Yes, I can see how inconvenient that would be for him
He doesn’t call to check on her, instead he goes to her lab, doesn’t find her there, then goes to her dorm.
He meets the RA of Katelyn’s dorm ”Oh Blake,” she said. “Missy,” she reminded me. Why? Who the hell cares about her name right now. Katelyn got a vaguely threatening note last night”
And no one questions how the kidnapper got inside of her room to begin with.
When he realizes she’s gone one of his first thoughts are What would they think when they started asking her friends questions about me?
her missing-ness hit me for the first time This is coming from an English major.

”Man,” Silas murmured as the police began putting up crime scene tape. “This is just like something out of a bad movie.”
Despite this being tasteless as hell since a girl has been kidnapped and possibly murdered it is the first thing about the story I can agree with.

I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone, I would rather recommend people NOT to read it.

I didn't particularly enjoy this, there was no romance. They were just suddenly together, no real back ground... There was no time to connect with the characters and I found nothing particularly relatable about them either.

I'm glad I didn't pay for this because damn this book sucks. Bad writing and lame story. And cliff hangers are so annoying!

1 of 5 stars for effort. DNF 66%.

I don’t really know what to say other than it went from “do I like her?” to “I love you” in .5 seconds.

Which is what the length of this book felt like. It felt like this whole book was a timeframe of a couple days.

It was so short I couldn’t get myself to be in tune with either the hero or the heroine.

I could barely figure out what kind of person Katelyn was because she didn’t feel like a person at all, she felt like a persona. Her friend got proposed to and she couldn’t even get herself to be happy for her even though she was the one that paid for it all to happen. Hard to believe that she doesn’t even recognise Blake who is apparently the proposed first draft pick of the NFL draft, and going to Iowa State too.

I can’t even begin to describe Blake to you. Typical jock with, surprise surprise, a soft side that is always misunderstood by everyone around him.

We were dropped into the story so randomly without context, like the opening scene with the proposal of her friend. It seemed like that was set up just so that Katelyn and Blake could meet but it was just so random it took me off guard.

Not going to lie it just feels like the author has a fantasy dream about Iowa State QB and just wrote about it. No depth, no substance next thing I know we’re already at 66%. Barely anything happened, I don’t feel any chemistry at all between Blake and Katelyn. It just feels forced, so I didn’t finish.

Hmm.. bit of a struggle to read most of this TBH. The characters, NFL Draft-hopeful, Blake Williams and chemistry nerd and tutor Katelyn French aren't particularly interesting.

They first meet when she's watching her friend's boyfriend propose, in a setting she organised. Blake's there too, photographing it all. Weird? Just a tad.

Of course she has no idea who he is.. Mr. Popular football, she's like literally the only person in college that doesn't know!

They begin dating, she had all these nerdy friends, but they're also incredibly cool! Like with piercings, and funky clothes and glasses... definietly not the 80s nerd version I have in my head! He's constantly defending their relationship and his interest in her to his mates. There's even other women crying over it all.

Katelyn gets accepted into Stanford, and Blake's hoping for first draft pick... no where near Stanford. Before they can really work out their options, she vanishes after receiving a threatening note...

But do I care enough to read on and find out what happened? Where is she? Who took her? Was it his roomate?
NO.
I don't care enough.

Up until about the 50% mark, I was thinking I would probably give this book 1.5 -2 stars because it wasn't very good but then it got worse. When Kate said her dad was gay and died of AIDS I was pretty much over the whole book but I decided to stick with it until the end because the book is only 70 pages. Speaking of which, I think it is really stupid to have a bunch of 70 page books that just cut off mid story cliffhanger. Just put them all together and have 1 book. Especially since a lot of it was filler to even reach 70 pages. I thought this book was boring and cliche, some of it didn't even make sense, the characters had absolutely no depth and didn't even behave the way their supposed personality was. Our nerdy, nice, main character actually walked up on another girl talking to her bf and said, "get the fuck out of here so I can talk to my boyfriend." Wait, what? Weird. Unfortunately, I don't have anything that I do like about this book. I will not be continuing on to the next book.

Not a fan of cliffhangers, but I am anxious to see how this story ends.

I thought this book wasn't too bad, I mean it was a little slow going for my liking at first and then the relationship between Blake & Kaitlyn feels sort of rushed in the middle, before it abruptly ends. I am not a fan of stories that are cliffhangers, which is what this one is but it's not a deal breaker either. The couple in this story meet because of mutual friends and go through the motions of a relationship but there is really no strong emotions of how they truly feel towards each other but with it being a cliffhanger, I feel that more of their relationship shows up in those books. I will however say this, if you are not one to like cliffhangers, like myself. You may want to wait to read this till after you have the whole series. I wish I had paid attention to that little tidbit so I could have bought the whole series before starting it. I will be waiting to read the rest of this book once I have the whole series, so I can see how the story ends.

Cliffhanger alert

So basically the "author" gives you seventy pages of the story at a time. Then wants you to buy the other four parts at seventy odd pages each. If it had been a great storyline and characters that you couldn't get enough of, I may have but the bullet and paid .99 for book two. But guess what, none of those things happened!

The story was mediocre at best, there was no character development and, yes, book one was free, book two was .99 but book three jumped up to 2.99 and its only seventy pages? I don't think so.

The story was filled with errors. There was no romance or wooing to speak of and all of a sudden they had been dating for two months. Wow, talk about a time warp. But he didn't know who any of her friends were, and just put up with her snark and smart mouth comments. Nope, nada, not happening.

If you want to spend you hard earned money on bad writing, you go right ahead, but don't say you haven't been warned.

I had a really hard time with this...
First it hardly had any lead into them being a couple and then they just were. You also get the impression that they hardly like each other even though they are together.
Second you don't really get much character development.
Third the kidnapping at the end. They way it was written came off a little ridiculous to me. Blake her supposed boyfriend hardly seemed upset. The cops were written like they weren't even really doing anything...
Fourth and Finally it just ended so abrupt. I'm glad I didn't pay for this. An from looking at other people's reviews I see I'm not the only one. I've also gotten the impression that the abruptness continues on in the other books that I'm in no way paying to buy or continue reading...
Sorry just very dissatisfied with this. My 1 ⭐ was down right generous in my opinion.

I liked the detail

It's not a complete story. The climax has occurred. And I'll be honest I have no interest in the resolution. It was cute but not riveting. And the simple fact that it is incomplete takes a star away automatically. I liked that there wasn't a Rom com attempt at a chem major or someone interested in photography. Do I understand it? No. But the character does and someone in the know would and that counts. Jargon makes it more realistic.

I liked the characters. I liked the story well what part we got of it. I did see it was a book one but I didn't realize I needed all the books to get the whole story.
Since im left on a cliff hanger all I can say is that I loved the part where they figured out that just because you are from different clicks in school don't mean you cant make a great couple.

I felt the story was too hurried. It's like we're skipping scenes. It was a short read but the read didnt bring me into the level of excitement

I was disappointed that the cliffhanger should have sparked my interest to what happens next. The flow just made me feel it's okay not to read the succeeding novels.

Very Stereotypical and Unoriginal but an easy read

This story lacked originality and was honesty very bland. The characters aren't very likeable and they don't grow or change throughout the story. The romance is also super underdeveloped but I can see why this would be an easy read if you like cheesy romance.

2.5 There was a lot of grammar mistakes in this book and idk why but that bothers me a lot. Also I didn’t like how the 2 characters fell in love instantly. It kinda seems like the story was drawn out. Also the fact that it had the mystery part at the end where the girl went missing. It’s not portrayed as a mystery book it’s just a romance. That should not have came at the end of the book.

Nope.

I couldn't connect to the characters. Very stereotypical descriptions and personality traits. I didn't feel like it was a romance... Neither character showed any emotion towards the other so I don't understand how they're supposed to be in love. The book ends abruptly in a cliffhanger. And while a part of me is curious what happens, I have no investment in the story.

Geeky love

Suspenseful, unexpected and emotional. Ms. Monroe holds your attention with the uniqueness of geek vs popular athlete and leaving enough questions unanswered that you can't wait for the next book!

Game changer

Caitlin meet Blake and these two were as different as two people could be, but they clicked. They have A lot of decisions to make until something happens. The only thing I wish it was an all in one instead of another to see how the story goes.

Okay!

I chose this rating because this book was pretty okay. I enjoyed most of the characters. The thing that I did not enjoy was the young lady getting kidnapped by someone who wanted her man. That girl was a lunatic.

Good story

Another book with a cliffhanger, which I hate. The kind that leave you in a most unsatisfying condition. I really do hate that writers write books that leave you hanging in a terrible way.
