Loads of drama… but for me, mostly the wrong kind

- ONS
- trouble with ex’s
- kids from other marriage
I don’t typically read these tropes, but I decided to try. All the conflicting loyalties, and the MCs not firm in their feelings made for a less that stellar HEA for me. I don’t enjoy reading their conflicting feelings about their ex’s.
Bottom Line? I finished but I wasn’t sold: 🤷🏼♀️ ⭐️⭐️

I went into this one expecting a one-night-stand, accidental pregnancy romance with a shared connection that would bring the couple back together. It unexpectedly included one of my favorite tropes…single dad. What I didn’t expect was the level of drama and tension.
Chantel and Dillion meet when she literally slides into him during a snowstorm. They exchange numbers and go their separate ways, but when she later needs rescuing, he’s the only person she can think to call. Things get even more complicated when Chantel discovers her estranged sister has feelings for Dillion. Despite their undeniable attraction, she puts him in the friend zone.
Between the angst of their attraction, rebuilding her relationship with her sister, and exes who just won’t stay out of the middle, the story is full of drama. For every heartwarming moment (and there were plenty), there’s even more drama.
Written with a unique multiple POV from all the characters, there was plenty of insight into Dillion, Chantel, and her sister Stacy to understand what they were all dealing with.
Amy McFadden narrates the audiobook and does a fantastic job portraying the different personalities, her acting truly shines.

If you like romance novels with a little of "real" life thrown into it, you will love this book. I love Dillon and Chantel's story.
During a snow storm, Chantel is on her way to repair her very damaged relationship with her sister. Chantel rear ends Dillion's new SUV. They exchange contact information and they go their separate paths. Chantel then ends up stuck in the snow storm and she only can think of one person to call, Dillion. He comes to her rescue when everyone else has given up hope (even Chantel). Dillion finds her almost frozen to death, so he does the only logical thing, strip their clothes for body heat. They are rescued in the morning and go their separate paths again. They both think it was just a chance encounter. Once Chantel arrives at the cabin to see her sister, she finds out that Stacy has a new love in her life. Chantel is happy for Stacy, but when he arrives at the cabin, her heart sinks. It's Dillion. How could she just spend the night in the arms of her sister's new boyfriend? She can't do this to her sister again, not when they are trying to repair the damage that Chantel caused by running off with Stacy's fiancee 10 years ago. It was just one night , it means nothing, as least that is what Chantel tries to convince herself of. Then, she finds out she's pregnant with Dillion's baby! Is fate this cruel? She wants nothing more than a baby that she thought she would never have. She wants a relationship with her sister. She wants Dillion and Dillion clearly wants her. But, her sister wants Dillion and her ex boyfriend (and sister's ex fiancee) wants Chantel to come back to their life in NY.

Kind of a fast start to a slower middle and then a great ending.

I don't remember it too well (I really should write reviews immediately after finishing books... I read this sometime between 2012-2014) but I do remember liking it well enough where I started looking for more books by the author. Now, I'm a fan.

Chantel accidentally runs into the back of Dillon’s truck on the way to meet her estranged sister in a snow storm . After Dillon saves her when she gets stuck they end up having a wonderful night together only to find out that her sister had been on a few dates with Dillon and was falling for him . Unwilling to compromise her relationship with her sister, Chantel tries to forget Dillon . Dillon is also dealing with problems with his ex-wife so there seems to be too many factors keeping them apart.

um, well, i don't know if i like this book or not. this book doesn't make me empathize or move my feeling. too many misunderstanding and old grudges. it's hard for me to like the characters here but it's not like i hate them.
reading this making me realize that mangaka who draw harlequin must be really great at summarizing the story. i tried to mentally summarize this book, but i don't think i can make it short in manga capacity.

I completely love Channel and Dillon's love story. This one comes with it all, family love, family sorrows, family drama, weather, hot steamy sex scenes, a stupid ex or two...the only thing missing was a punch to the nose for someone to someone (no spoiler here)

Cute story. Enjoyed the characters. I liked that we got to see a possible happy ending for Stacy also.

Snow Baby kicks off the 9 Months series, and what a start it is. Set against a snowy backdrop, the story follows two main characters Chantal and Dillon who are brought together by unexpected circumstances, unresolved feelings, and a whole lot of emotional baggage. The winter setting adds such a warm, intimate vibe to the story, making it impossible not to get pulled in.
Chantal and Dillon were easy to root for—flawed, relatable, and genuinely endearing. Their chemistry felt natural, and I loved watching their walls slowly come down.
That said… Stacy (the sister) and Wade (the ex) were a bit insufferable 😅 —but honestly, that only made the main characters shine even more. Their contrast highlighted just how caring and genuine Chantal and Dillon really were, which made their journey even more satisfying.
This was a solid 4 ⭐ read for me. It delivered romance, emotion, and just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting. As the first book in the 9 Months series, it absolutely did its job 💜 Now I’m very excited to continue with the next books 😉

I find emotional intelligence sexy. This book, therefore, is not.
DNF at 80% because I just couldn't take another person being determined to be foolish and not wise.
To give Novak her due: the characters are realistic, the conflicts they have stem from real human choices that I completely believed; every character had strong motivation which and a believable back story which guided their actions. However: drama, drama, drama of the emotionally unintelligent variety and I just couldn't take it anymore. There were sparks of the heroine making good choices based on having processed her life...but she waffled and believed lies and I just couldn't.
I don't want ANY of these people as my friends. If, however, you like tangled family drama and realistic interpersonal conflict, then this may be the book for you. If you prefer more emotional intelligence, try out Chloe Liese or Penny Reid.

By the end of the story, I could definitely say it was a sweet read. But it took me a while to get into it. Chantel and Stacy actually drove me insane, but I think that was the whole point of the story. I am glad that they were able to work on their relationship in the end.
I also appreciated the heavy topics that were included in the story - example: anorexia.

Excellent romance story! I definitely needed a good book to escape into while the world is fighting Covid19 and this was a great choice. While there are serious situations in this book, I had high hopes that everything would work out at the end of the story. That is what I love about romance stories, I can always count on a happy ending!
