Dark Spell #2

Wicked Spell

When Emma Blackwood discovers she’s a witch, learning to conjure magic is only one of her problems…

Emma’s life has been a roller coaster of supernatural surprises. But as she soon discovers, taking control of her abilities as a witch is the least of her worries. While she strengthens her abilities, the world around her becomes a perilous place. And when a familiar foe is out to destroy her, the one spell Emma needs to defeat the unlikely enemy lies just out of her reach.

Sebastian Blackwood will sacrifice anything in his quest for power—even his own daughter…

An evil warlock like Sebastian won’t tolerate being second best. When his gifted daughter Emma realizes her true potential, the threat of being conquered is too great. He is determined to reclaim his rightful status, but as Emma grows closer to the single spell capable of defeating him, it’s clear his only option is to take her out.

When witches and warlocks battle for power, only one can be the victor…

Trapped between life and death, Emma is forced to choose between eliminating her father, or becoming another helpless victim of his crazed lust for greatness.

Sebastian will stop at nothing to regain his title, and
Emma refuses to go down without a fight.

I was so excited to get a copy of Wicked Spell, the sequel to Dark Secret. I was not disappointed at all. I adore Emma and was so glad to have Micah make an appearance in the book. There are several new characters in this book that had great personalities as well.

Kyle has a new girl in his life and she and Emma get to have some fun girl outings.

Michelle really makes you feel the emotions Emma struggles within the story. The darkness of the first book is still evident in the second and you get to see Emma as she learns how to use her power.

This was a great read. It has a lot of energy that kept me reading well into the night. Another great book. I can't wait to see what she has to offer next.

Wicked Spell is the conclusion to the Dark Spell series.

Emma Blackwood is hurt, just finding out what role Micah played in her father finding her changes things. Emma's father Sebastian Blackwood is powerful, but it's not enough he wants Emma's powers as well. He will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.

Emma must focus on learning how to control and enhance her powers if she wants to go up against her father. She isn't too confident that her powers are stronger than his. Many things about Emma's past are brought to light and she just feels like all the weight has been put on her shoulders. She is also experiencing other strange symptoms and she doesn't know what is happening with her. Micah and Emma are having major issues and must figure out a way to overcome them. She must lean on her mother and friends for support until she can figure out how to get her life under control.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Just as the first one this is a fast-paced read. It doesn't go into small details with everything, it's straight to the point. There was a twist at the end that I thought was very surprising. Kyle has to be my favorite character, he is so funny and sweet. Another thing I really enjoy about this book is even though the focus is mainly on Emma the other characters play major roles in this story also. I would recommend this series for any YA Paranormal fans.

I was asked to review this and Dark Secret together and that is why I will give the over all review here..

I did enjoy both books but the Wicked Spell I enjoyed the most because the first was really hard to get into and was about to put it down a few times because it simply did not do it for me..
I am however glad that I continued because it got better once Micah really stepped into the story.. I really liked Micah but still I found the story lacking in some ways and I have a hard time pinpointing precisely why I found it lacking..
The story is good, no doubt in that, it just misses the last umph, I suppose, to make it great!

I won this paperback. It's a short read but lots in it. I really love this story and the characters and glad to see the return of some and read about new ones. This is a great series especially if you're a ya paranormal fan.
