Stress is a massive issue in our 21st century culture, and the Church is by no means exempt. There is some evidence that people involved with the church might be at particular risk of stress related illness and burn out. How do we get the balance right when there's so much more than work and life to juggle? How do we manage the tension between our passion for God and our other responsibilities? How do we manage to reach our full potential without burning out? Good stress management isn't about living a half-life - it is possible to remain motivated, passionate and on fire, without constantly being on the brink of burnout. Kate Middleton's biblical self-help book will help readers to identify understand the dangers of stress and offers practical tips to reduce and manage stress in a biblical way.
Excellent book. It is a thoughtful and thorough reflection on burn out as well as being immensely practical. It has a good combination of Biblical principles; psychological insights mixed with a lot of common sense. A very easy book to read. I reckon it's a must read for anyone in ministry.
Refuel is a biblically based manual on dealing with stress and burnout, combining Christian teaching with lay research.
I liked the way the book straddled the line between biblical and secular. Too many Christian books fail to explain how Christ’s teaching actually works in the 21st century, but this successfully evaluated common mental health advice through a Christian lens.
A helpful introductory book for Christians who are feeling on the edge of extreme tiredness and burnout. Some practical faith and life tips while also encouraging people to seek the professional help they need.
A very clear description of what stress is and does to us as well as some guidance on how to handle stress. Written from a Christian perspective Dr Kate is clear about the role of faith both in adding stress and in helping us to handle it better.
