His blue eyes pull me in. I can’t get lost in them.
Not now.
Not ever.

Somehow, he convinced me to work for him. Against my better judgment, I agreed. I should be focused on keeping me and my special needs son safe from an abusive past. But I’m too consumed with brothel owner, Benjamin Wesley, to realize danger has found us.

I will no longer be someone’s punching bag. I’ve learned to protect myself, and when my ex shows up wanting to claim the son he once abused, I fight back.

Someone will end up dead…but it won’t be me.

Summary:
This book is about a woman who has a special needs child. She is running away from an abusive ex and trying to start over in a new town. She takes all the precautions to make sure her son's life is the best and safest it can be. Then she meets this mysterious rich resort owner who is actually taking an interest in her. But is the timing right?

Dislikes:
I had a hard time connecting with Katie, I didn't feel emotion over her life when I wish I would have. Also, Ben was just not someone that I would swoon over. Seemed more stalker than sexy to me.

Likes:
I always like the writing in Thornton's books. Also, I think this plot line was really thorough and satisfying.

Overall:
If you like romance with a bit of suspense, I think this novel would be right up your alley. Especially to experience this beautiful author.

Wow, holy hot sex! I kind of expected the crazy intense sex scenes from the cover though, I mean look at it! It's just so sexy. I've never read a D.M. Thornton book before but I liked this and I look forward to reading more of her stuff.

Katie is a single mom that survived an abusive relationship with her son that has special needs. She moved to Portland, Oregon and is trying to live her life away from her abusive ex. When she meets Ben everything changes for her and her son, Cash. Ben is the rich resort owner that offers her a job that she can't turn down with it's flexible hours. The closer she gets to Ben the more her fight or flight instinct kicks in. Is he really good for her and Cash?

Okay the hot sex aside I wasn't in love with Ben. I honestly found him a little creepy. The way he just always popped up where she was, that's stalker status and hella creepy. Katie was weird to me too. It was hard for me to connect with any of these characters and that was frustrating.

I loved the story and I loved how incredibly strong Katie was. She is the person people should look up to. She escaped a shitty relationship and put her son first and learned how to kick ass. The girl kicked some serious ass in this especially against Josh. Not going to lie I squealed a little at that scene. I also loved the amount of times she "quit" her job just to return the next morning. It was hard not to laugh at that.

In the end I liked the characters and I loved them together. They were both pretty broken but fit together well and had a lot of dirty, hot sex. If you don't like amazing sex scenes then don't read this but you'll be missing out something fierce.

I was contacted by the author D M Thornton who asked me if I would consider reading her book. I have to be honest, sometimes with book covers like these I tend to place them straight into "erotica romance" but how wrong was I!

This was a book that took me a while to get into, but boy oh boy, once I did I read this in one sitting. I just couldn't leave it alone.

This is the first book I have read by this author so I will be looking to see if she has written others.

We have one strong woman in the story who has a son. She is escaping from an abusive relationship. She has to take care of her son and all of us Moms know, we need to be there for our babies right? Just like this mom in this story.

When she comes in contact with Ben at a resort, she tries hard to avoid him, she doesn't want one relationship after another, her priority is to her son.

Ben [swoon] comes across as such a lovely bloke.

Really enjoyed this story.

Well done to the author for keeping my interest.

hot, hot, hot!!! there is serious content going on here, and I don't just mean the sex. I love Katie and her drive, along with her self doubt, which we all have, as a woman and/or a parent. I like that she was a mom. I like that she was in control when it really mattered. great job DM!

think it's the worst book I've read this year.
An inconstant protagonist, without a stable personality, who seemed strong but easily manipulated by Ben.
Except Cash to have that syndrome is a vivacious and smart child.

Very good book

This book was a very good read a little predictable but I’d still read it again. I had a hard time putting it down. I loved all the characters.

I was addicted to this book and could not put it down. I loved Katie. Her son, Cash, had kept her on top of things for quite a while. When she meets Ben, there is an attraction there she feels and wants to avoid. However, he won't be ignored. I loved how he connected with Cash! When trouble finds her again, thank goodness Cash recognizes getting the "kite" for what it was. I was gripped by the story.

ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

Yet again, another great book from new author DM Thornton. Distracted is a fast paced romantic 'suspense' (this one has a bad guy in it!). I couldn't wait until I could pick it up to see what was going to happen next! Plus you know it has the perfect love thrown in which is what we all want.

This was a slow burn story took me a little while to get involved with the characters but once I gelled with them I was turning the pages as fast as I could

Katie a single mum has taken off to Portland Oregon in an attempt to re build her life after leaving her abusive ex. She has a special needs son Cash whose problems where caused by the fact that his father was a heavy drug user. She meets Ben a rich resort owner who causes her to lose her job as an apology he offers her another job This throws them into close proximity where he pushes her boundaries and bonds with her son. Katie is a strong woman who has never had anyone she can trust will she learn to trust Ben and see where this relationship can go

Katie is a single mom that sis running from her abusive ex. She moves to Portland, Oregon with her special needs son Cash. She meets Ben who is a rich resort owner. He offers her a job that offers great money with flexible hours. She can’t turn it down because she needs a job to support her son. She is very leery of Ben and doesn’t know if she can trust him or not. She has already survived a horrible relationship and is not ready to make that same mistake again. Is Ben a good guy? Or is he going to hurt her?

This is Katie and Bens story I have to say it started a little slow and took a little while to get into it but once I did I was hooked. Katie is a single mum to her adorable son Cash she managed to get away from his abusive dad and is starting fresh. Ben is a resort owner and when he offers her a job too good to turn down he has to decide if she can let someone new into their lives. While I liked the book I have to say Ben kinda creeped me out at times, he had a stalker vibe going on other than that it was a good read

This story pulled on my heartstrings. Katie has endured much and continues to be a strong independent woman. Cash is her adorable mildly handicapped son. He just makes you smile. Ben is a very determined man used to getting what he wants and what he wants is Katie. I loved their interactions and loved the way he treated Cash right from first meeting him. Started reading this book and couldn't out down.

She knew going to work with him would be trouble but she does. She will not fall for his eyes. She has a disabled son and herself to protect. She will no longer be a pushing bag. She gets caught up with him when her ex reappears wanting the son he abused. She will fight this time. Someone is going to end up dead. Who will it be? See by reading

I found the book as a bit on the slow side in the beginning but it really got better and better as I went along. The content is seriously hot as sin and not just the sex. Katie as such great drive and like many women we self doubt about ourselves as well as our parenting skills but like most women she steps up and pulls herself together

Katie, on supporting her friend Tara, ends up at a sex resort where Tara is applying for a job, but Ben only has eyes for her. Katie has had a bad time looking after her son Cash and running from her junkie ex, and when he tracks her down Ben will do everything to protect the woman he has fallen for. Yes yes yes cracking read, loved the twisted love hate relationship in the beginning.

Katie and her special needs son Cash are on the run from her abusive exboyfriend. Katie finds herself in a predicament in one hand she will do anything to protect her son. On the other she wants love along with safety and security. Katie meets Ben at The Blue Valley Resort. Benjamin finds himself wanting to protect Katie and Cash. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m not convinced by this story. Kate is quiet interesting and I understand her state of mind and action, but frankly for me Ben have no substance. On the top of that the story is not realistic in my opinion. Could have been better

she has an abusive ex and a child she loves dearly, and a job for a man who wants her and would be her protector if she would let him. I really thought this story was attention grabbing and a well written read.

Well, darn it. I cried. Children really are the center of our world and there isn't anything we won't do for them. Put up with anything or anyone. This story has so many different elements to it. Well done.

Me gusto todo, al principio no sabia como iba a ir la historia, pero no me decepsiono para nada, es ligera, sin mucho drama y con un protagonista que amamos

This book was amazingly tense. It reminded me of the fifty shades of gray story from page one but it was different enough to have a story of its own and make me not want to put it down. Definitely a must read!!!

It gets better

For me the book started slow and I had a few Oh really???? moments. As I got into it more I began to like the characters and I eventually fell in love with Cash. The story line developed well and the story had a nice flow.
