My name is Adam Patrick Gordon, and I am a ghost of Culloden’s battlefield. Restless I am, for much unfinished business pulls at my soul—and my heart. I left my sweet wife, Mairi, behind, heavy with our first child, to face the Government Army on behalf of Prince Charles. I was one of the unlucky few from the Glenbucket Brigade who fell at Culloden that day in April, 1746. What would I trade my ghostly existence for? Would a few minutes alone with our bonny prince give my soul the rest it deserves? I must convince Soni that all my heart desires is one more day with Mairi.
Amazon best-selling author Cathy MacRae enjoys weaving tales of romance in the Highland mists. Her stories feature strong heroes and feisty heroines in pursuit of their happy-ever-afters in medieval Scotland.
When not writing, Cathy can be found curled up in a chair with a book or enjoying the outdoors with a German Shepherd or two. She is currently working on another Highland romance novel and planning her next trip to Scotland.
Adam (The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #11), my second read from author Cathy MacRae & the eleventh in the highly enjoyable Ghosts of Culloden Moor series. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes the books she reads influence me to read them as well. Another well-written short read in the series. I'll read more from this author & in this series, but what really got me going was narrator Andrew McDermott, I love his Irish brogue. Co-narrator Jenn McGuirk added to the enjoyment of the book. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Adam is the 11th book in the series. Each book originates from the ghosts of 79 people who died at Culloden. However, each story is unique, and focuses on the specific ghost. Each ghost must complete a noble deed. Adam has a pregnant wife when he went to Culloden. His dearest wish is for his wife, and not revenge on the Bonnie Prince Charlie. This story is so sweet and really played on my emotions. The story is well written and interesting. The characters are well developed. Narration is excellent, I love the Scottish brogue. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is part of the ghost of the "Culloden Moor" series and is probably best if you read them in order. Definitely read the "Gathering" first because it sets everything up. Each story is about one of the seventy nine who died at Culloden and are now ghosts. This is a good story, that develops nicely. It is interesting and intriguing with good narration. This one is about Adam, a man who left behind his pregnant wife, Mairi. His wish is not for revenge but to see her one last time and make things right for her. Adam and Mairi's story is emotional and heartwarming. I really enjoyed how this one develops.
This is book 11 in the series. You will want to read the first short story, The Gathering, for the background of the Muir witch before you start the rest of the series. After that, each one can be read as a standalone .
Aww, Adam you stole my heart. 💕 Adam’s biggest regret is leaving his young pregnant wife all alone when he went off to fight at Culloden Moor. They only thing he ask of Soni, the wee witch, it that he can go back and make things right for his wife.
I love these short, sweet stories. They are quick reads, with wonderfully, hot Scots!
The night before the battle in which he died, Adam received a note telling him of the death of his sweet wife and child come too early in the bitter cold. For nearly 300 years he blamed himself for their deaths. All he wants is one more day with his sweet Mairi and a chance to keep her and their unborn child safe, but can he do it? I loved this story. I loved the desires. I loved cheering them on to success. I loved the attentiveness of the dog.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So far, THIS is the book in the G.o.C.M. series that has made me cry the hardest! So many emotions to be experienced here! The only thing I would change: I wish there was more insight into Adam's and Mairi's personalities, more "character development", if you will. But otherwise no complaints! Beautiful story!
This is book 11 in The Ghosts of Culloden Moor Series, a Scottish Paranormal Romance. Adam and Mairi's story is well written, emotional, and engaging. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk did an excellent job bringing these characters and this story to life. Looking forward to more in the series.

Another wonderful story included in the Ghosts of Culloden Moor series. Adam is one the 79 ghosts that haunt Culloden Moor. He is offered a chance to right a wrong and goes back for2 days to see if he can save his unborn child and wife. What will he give up for this chance?.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Adam's story a tale of woe land regrets. A singular wish granted - for true love knows no bounds. A wish granted a future secure- thus is the tale Adam and his paramour Mairi.
This story of Adam was a short one. The ghost, Adam, was sent back to save his wife and unborn child, willingness of blithe his wife and himself to die for the other, saved them both
These Ghosts of Culloden Moor stories are absolutely wonderful. Excellent characters, varied stories, heroes and heart. I highly recommend them all so far.
Such a tender story of a man willing to anything to protect his family. Concerned however that the " wee witch", may be experiencing some sort of backlash for her soft heart
I totally recommend this series! It is so heartwarming and makes you feel like you are related to the men.I worried. at the end of this for their future and any adversity they may face getting to where they go!
Another wonderful story, which ended with me in tears. Each story of one man is well written and intense. Some are more light-hearted then others, but all so far have been great!
The story line is good but doesn't have that magic a good writer does. One thing about all the ghost stories is I read different authors telling different versions.
While this ended in a way I didn’t expect, it was a good read. Despite the different authors, each have held to the basics L.L. Muir had set from the beginning.
This book is Adam’s story. It is a romance with a small bit of adventure in it. It is a clean read. It is easily read in an afternoon. I truly enjoyed this story.
Adam: A Highlander Romance #11 in "The Ghosts of Culloden Moor" series by Cathy MacRae, but can read as a stand alone. A quick read. Well written with engaging characters. The storyline is unique, and intriguing. This is a story of the men killed on the Culloden battlefield, the love of a Highlander. that only wish, is to spend one more day with his wife and their unborn bairn. Granted his wish to save his wife and child, for one day only. He returns home, saves a child from drowning, and sees his children born, yes, his children. A heartwarming tale of a witch, her powers, a ghost and the possibility of his HEA, but at what cost. A soul for a soul, and/or a life for a life. Will Adam return as a ghost, or get to stay with his family forever, but at what cost? Adam is a good, and loving man, who desperately loves his family and will do anything to save them. He also knows some of the future. An interesting read, which leaves a few questions, to what happens to the witch. I see another book in the readers' future. An enjoyable and satisfying Highlander Romance!
Oh what he would give to have another moment, another chance to be with his wife!
Adam Gordon wanted a chance to save his wife! He was one of the 79, but he didn't care about confronting Prince Charlie about the defection of the Prince, he only wanted a way to correct the mistake of things he left undone that played a role in his wife's death! Soni gave him that chance. While he was out and returning from walking his nephew home, he was able to prevent a young child from drowning and had to be reminded by Soni that his primary goal was not completely done. When Adam reached home he found his wife in early labor, and with the help of Soni was able to deliver two sons! To insure that the family would not suffer from the death of either parent Soni granted the surety that all would live, something tells me based on what her uncle Wickham said or implied there was a price for the constant bending of rules and the subsequent books on the men of Culloden should be most interesting reading, I am suitably intrigued!!!
It's Adam's turn to go and get his chance to be a hero. Of course if you are keeping up these books this is #11 of the Ghost of Culloden Moor series. Adam isn't wanting a boon with Prince Charles though he just wants to go home to save his wife and child. So Soni sends him home to see if he can do just that or if he would be still to late to stop destiny. Adam saves another little girl's life before finding his wife ready to have their child. He of course freaks (like most men would) and Soni comes to help him. You'll have to see if he gets to stay or if he leaves by yourself though. I enjoyed it.
Just prior to dying on Culloden Moor, Adam received word that his wife and child died during premature labor. His beautiful Mairi had gone after the sheep that hadcescaped the barn through a hole Adam never found the time to fix. Now almost 300 years later, he would do anything to turn back the clock so he could prevent the deaths of his family. The Muir witch gives him that opportuinty.
This one was super cute. I would say I honestly thought she was going to send Adam back because Soni had told Adam to tell his love that he was a ghost but now he gets to stay!! But my question is will William still remember to listen to his uncles warning and leave north or will Adam's wife remind them. I just hope in another book we find out what happens to his family.

I'm so glad I decided to pick up these books. They could be longer of course, but over all, very well written and contain characters that stick with you
