Rose Hawthorne’s world is turned upside after her father’s death. Her brother ran the company into the ground, he gambled away their inheritance, and now he’s lost their home. He’s decided to seek his fortune in Colorado by buying a goldmine and striking it rich. As Rose’s guardian, he orders her to go with him, and she has to obey him until she’s married. She doesn’t want to abandon her life in Boston but her brother leaves her no choice. The two gather the last of their possessions and travel to the tiny mining camp of Manhattan, Colorado, nestled forty-five miles west of Fort Collins. The land is rugged and the miners are uncivilized, yet Rose knows the Lord will provide for her. Somehow she will survive this trial and carve out a living for herself. And soon the Lord will give her the means and the way to get back home to Boston.
If she can keep her brother away from the card tables…

Whit Morrison keeps having dreams about a young woman with blue eyes and fiery curls. He’s never met her but he knows she’s in trouble. When they cross paths the Lord leads him to save her from a terrible fate. He’s willing to help her get back to Boston but he refuses to get his heart involved. He’d fallen for a woman before and it had disastrous results. Yet his family wants him to return to Pennsylvania and marry. Whit is only a simple mountain trapper who totes the Word of God to people in the hills. He doesn’t want to marry an uppity socialite his father has chosen for him. Can he and the woman in his dreams strike a bargain that will get them both what they want? And when they finally arrive, will the Lord give him the strength to let her go?

Rose Hawthorne's brother has gambled away everything since their father passed away. The latest thing he lost was their home. He forces Rose to go with him out west to Manhattan, Colorado. True to form, he gambles away Rose in a hand of cards.

Rose places her faith in God that he will save her from a marriage to the gambler that "won" her. Whit Morrison comes to her aid but will he be able to protect her from her brother and gambler husband.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to readers of all ages. If you are not familiar with historical romances, this is a good book to start with.

A lovely change

This was my first Christian romance. I have to say I enjoyed it. The storyline was well written. I was pleasantly surprised. The heroine at times made me want to shake her with some of the choices she made and her naivete. But, the faith and belief and reliance on a higher power was truly believable. Like our current day walk with GOD, knowing that if we let him be will guide us in the right direction. 🙏🙏🙌

This was a great Christian book. Rose has been taken to Colorado by her brother that has lost everything the have by gambling it away. He then gambles and loses his sister to another gambler. She has to marry him, but before he gets to the room, she runs away and is later saved by Whit Morrison.
This is a wonderful written book bout the hardships of frontier life and the knowledge of knowing our God.
The ending is really good and I really enjoyed this book.

A sweet and clean 1890s Western novel surrounding Rose, whose parent's died and due to the mismanagement of funds by her step-brother in Boston, took her to Colorado and bought a failing goldmine. Trying to recoup his funds through gambling, he bartered his sister in marriage to another gambler. Rose makes her escape running into Whitt, a trader, who helps her. A short and sweet CF Western that makes for an entertaining bedtime read.

Courageous Lady Trusting in God

This poor young woman was so mistreated, yet she trusted God through it all and came out victorious in spite of all the terror and hardships that she endured. Pretty much had to read the story straight through because I didn’t want to put it down. Highly recommended!

God has a plan for you!

Trish Davis has illustrated that life is not always an easy journey. However God is always faithful and will lead us if we seek his will for our life! Some of the early settlements in the West were very rough with harsh living conditions. Whit and Rose prove strong enough in their faith and willingness to follow God's blessed plans for their lives.

An interesting story about Rose being drug put west by her brother. He sees dollar signs in the gold mines. Rose is realistic and knows they don’t have a clue how to survive out there. Her brother, Dawson, is a drinker and gambler. Rose is a believer and a survivor. She literally goes through hell from the consequences of Dawson’s choices.

Quite an interesting western romance idea to add 'bartering' as a concept. Enjoyed this read.

a sweet historical romance read

I enjoyed this book, the story kept me engaged.
This is clean, sweet romance where marriage is honoured. There is a faith element to the story too.
