The second Field sister, Sage, is a nanny that loves her job, the kids she cares for and the fact that she’s able to help her sisters in supporting her parents. But, all is not well, and when Sage’s boss is the suspect in a murder (one she knows he didn’t commit) and has lost endorsements and the income from it as a professional golfer, she’s soon to be out of a job. Knowing that your boss is innocent and proving it are two entirely different things: and with the only other person willing to help is her boss’s caddy Roman, perhaps things will become clearer.
Like the first book Rosemary’s Gravy the plot is fast-paced and lively, often at the expense of character development. The banter is fun and lively, and Sage’s feelings for the children and concern for the Moore’s is apparent, even as it was more tell than show. Roman was a bit of a difficult character to attach to, and his secrets seemed to add to that remove, even as Sage often missed those obvious clues. When you add in long-buried secrets, blackmail, a stash of cash and the revolving cast of secondary characters, the path to the culprit wasn’t as direct but still obvious. It’s lighthearted, no-stress reading that is perfect for an afternoon: candyfloss reading for that urge for something entertaining.
Narration for this book is again provided by Vanessa Daniels, and I can’t help but be disappointed: my hopes for improvement in performance went unfulfilled, and while I do have the third in this series to review, I don’t know that I can push through another. Odd hesitations, muddled tones, limited distinction in voice for different characters and pacing that was uneven with no apparent relationship to the text left me frustrated, with a need to replay and review several moments. I would suggest that those wanting a lighthearted and youthful mystery without any major angst read, not listen to this series.

Murder has been done with a golf club belonging to her employer. Innocent, but has lost endorsements. Sage being a high priced nanny, and Roman a shy tongue tied caddy. To solve the crime of who did the evil deed, and to get their jobs back, was there goal. With boss having a clean image for endorsements again. Wife wasn’t mourning her dead husband, where golfs club stored, rooms were keep unlocked. The more they dugged into the lives of the golfers, the more complex this plot got, as a reader, we wonder who didn’t have a motive. Good plot, the characters, even the children, you seem to know them. Beginning to the end keep you wondering just how it would turn out. The only thing that seemed unreal was how much importance was given to Sage, a nanny is usually in the background. For her and Roman to be allowed into the country club, didn’t seem like it would be allowed.

I'm sorry, but MUFFY!
I realize you wanted us to know she was a "ditzy" blonde, but really...I couldn't get past the name.
This book just, I don't know. I liked Roman. Life wasn't easy for him at any point, and he rolled with the punches that came at him...I'm also glad that Muffy turned out to be a pretty smart cookie.

Sage is a Nanny to a professional golfer in South Carolina and her employer ends up on the wrong side of the law. Another golfer and member of the club has been murdered with his club. It all seems cut and dry until there are several suspects found. Seems that the murdered has been blackmailing several members at the club. Great little twist and the characters are wonderful

This was an enjoyable read. We learn enough to appreciate the characters. Some bad decisions, some very level headed people making good decisions. An interesting storyline all playing out at Hilton Head. The kids certainly added a dimension to the story not usually seen in cozy mysteries.
Certainly qualifies as a light summer mystery read.

Another great one
Another great story by the author. I enjoyed the suspense and figuring out who might be behind the mystery. The author is great with creating a suspense but also allowing the story to convey the other character’s lives outside of the scandal.

This was a really good cozy. It had a lot more happening in it than most cozies. I really like Ms. Miller's writing it is fast paced and the characters are interesting. Can't wait to read the last installment in this series.

Entertaining book two
The second book in this series was as entertaining as the first. Can't wait to read about Thyme's life and to find out if they can save the family resort. Fun cozy mystery.

This second sister's story is a fast-paced read. The characters aren't drawn deeply, but they still seem to hold up well and interact naturally. This is truly all about the action and storyline. Full review on my blog soon.
