This was an enjoyable novella. Well paced, enjoyable characters, and enough of a background/story to believe the romance. I liked the concept of the shifters having their own court (shifter supreme court or SSC).

Everyone finds himself or herself in an awkward situation—even a shifter. So when we meet Ky Romanoff, it is because he becomes the new representative to a rather cantankerous shifter seeking custody of his grandson—from a storyline from Bear Canyon Valley. When he arrives, he learns that one of the members of the Shifter Supreme Court is a woman has had relations with and was never able to forget or get over. From there, the story while leisurely, makes you want to keep reading to figure out how Ky and Laken get passed their issues (because Laken has a real issue thanks in part to a trauma she suffered) to get on with their HEA. This story is also the lead-in to Fascination.

Laken Araya served in the military and now she is summoned to be a judge in Shifter Supreme Court. Malachi Romanoff also served in the military and is there in court for the same case. 1 hot night a few years ago should have been enough but when these 2 get together the sparks fly all over the place and the temps rise between them.

The author gave the characters very good interaction.This is definitely a book that I could not put down.

This is for any mature paranormal romance book lover because of sexual content.

What can you say, the past has a way of coming back and biting you in the butt. Once again our main characters have met in the past, and in this case they had a quick fling. Never getting into the talking part of the fling they parted without knowing the others name. Fast forward and imagine walking into the courtroom and finding said fling sitting as the judge. Are things going to get better or worse? Can you catch the one that got away and still be professional? This was a fun story with our Ky and Laken as interesting choices for main characters. Having met before adds humor to an unpleasant situation and makes for some engaging reading. I had two problems with the story, the first was it seemed to short and the second was that because of this short rushed feeling I did not get the usual insight into who the characters really were. I understand that the past relationship made the Hook Up seem more plausible , but I missed getting to know the characters and seeing their relationship from the beginning. I am sure that Ms. Thorne has a plan, and it is always possible we will see how it started included in another book (hint hint). I enjoyed the story and getting a look at this new adventure she has envisioned is always a plus but I can only give it 3.5 stars. I look forward to seeing these characters again and getting to know them better.

An interesting read that starts the Shifters Forever After series. Another new series in Ms Thorne's fantastic SHIFTERS FOREVER WORLD.
Loved the plot, it was great but found because it was rushed, I just didn’t connect as well with Laken or Malachi (Ky) as I would have liked. I could understand Laken being the way she was but she was just a bit too unbending and standoffish. Ky was a sweetie and he had to work hard to get Laken to see him as her mate.

I love reading Elle Thorne's books and I have never been disappointed. OMG! This is could be a best seller in my opinion! Elle is one of my favorite authors, her series all include other characters from her other books I love that about her books, she does set the bar higher with her series. Book 1 from the "Shifters Forever After" series is a Fantastic start to another awesome series! I fell in love with the first 2 series, but this series is fast becoming one of my favorite and this a great a story, now if you don't like short stories this may not be for you! But once I started reading, I couldn't put it down, that's how awesome it is! It's a well-written novel that is very entertaining! It's a sensual, must read, romantic, scorching hot, shifters and fantasy all in here. This is a storyline that's different with courts and memories that will keep you engaged, but you won't be able to stop turning the pages. Her descriptions allow you the reader to be pulls right into the story. I love how vivid she is with the details. I think her characters are well developed and the dialogue is fantastic!

I like how Ky made Laken feel despite of her missing part of her leg.I felt Ky's love thru out the story. I think you will enjoy the story more if this isn't your first series you have read, otherwise you could missed the understanding of the case, but if you know the character's story. You won't feel as if you entered the story in the middle of a book.
Laken is a panther shifter that blittle down about how she lost her leg to a land mine, she seem to want to help others that was hurt by land minds. She miss being with her sisters on vacation, but wants to help others more.
Ky is a polar bear shifter, He is sweet,sexy, gorgeous and a good guy. Ky can't forget the one night he and Laken shared.

I honestly loved reading this and I recommend all of the books by Elle Thorne . She is a very talented, creative author and I'm excited and can't hardly wait to read the next book in the series. This series is a Magnificent addition to your TBR list.

If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!

Ky has never forgotten that night with Laken, he even has the time counted out to the day! Now she sitting right in front of him and he'll be damned if he lets her get away from him again, but something is wrong with her. He knows she is very attracted to him, but she is fighting it and he is not going to give up until he finds out why, after all she is his mate.

I was very pleased to see Marti get her day in court against Dominic's grandfather. After all his son put her through, he still has the audacity to want complete custody of her son.

This was a smidge disappointing to me. I sorta felt like we missed the majority of their story. Like we entered the middle of a book kind of feeling. I wasn't much of a fan of Laken...she seemed a little stoic to me. That sounds kinda harsh but I just wasn't feeling her. It could be because of her attitude towards her missing leg. Don't know. I mean she accepted it but as far as letting anyone in that would be a no. She pulled back from her sisters too. I think what irked me about that is a trip to Africa is more important than spending a little time with her sisters which she hasn't done in awhile. Not that Africa isn't something important but she seemed to be unbending about it. I dunno. I liked Ky. He was sweet and sexy and a good guy. Not my favorite from Elle. Hope the next one is better. :)

I usually love Ms. Thornes books but this one just felt to rushed. To short. I don't think there was enough character build up between Laken and Ky. I loved the idea behind the story I just feel that it really seriously needed fleshed out more. I finished reading the book feeling like I didn't really know the characters or feel any connection to them and only half-fast between them. I know Ms. Thorne can write so I'm sure this series will get better. Like I said I usually love her books. So I'm eagerly awaiting the next book even though this one wasn't that great.

Wow! What a fantastic short read that I enjoyed so much, I finished it in 2 sittings in one day! If you love romance & paranormal shifters like I do, then you must add these books to your TBR list :) Elle Thorne has a magical way with words & a talent for creating different plots! Add in awesome three dimensional characters that are likable & this will keep the reader engaged & the pages turning! I was fortunate to be given this to read in exchange for my honest review & I highly recommend this to any readers of fiction :)

Elle Thorne introduces us to a new set of shifters in Complication. This is the first book in her new series Shifters Forever After. Elle is continuing her Shifters Forever series by introducing us to friends in New York, Polar Bear shifters and friends of Gavin. This book seems to start off a little slow but it progresses easily. For those of us that are hooked on the Shifters Forever series this book doesn't progress the storyline for past characters very much but at least we get to catch up with a few of our favorites. I received an ARC for my honest review.

A little short on length and story. But after I read it I found its part of a spin off series, so maybe that's why.
