This book is the second in the series and is preceded by FRET. It can be read as a standalone. It contains homosexual relations and harsh language. A sneak peek to book 3 follows the ending.
Jinx Jett is a rock superstar. As such, the hunky Skull Blasters drummer thoroughly enjoys the many perks of willing groupies, earning him a reputation as the band slut. Making it big and scoring hot women is something Jinx never expected. There's a little voice in the back of his mind constantly reminding him of how he used to be -- shy, overweight and acne prone. One night in a gay bar turns life upside down when Jinx runs into Jayden Dempsey, a kid he's been fantasizing about since giving him his autograph at a mall. Long-held insecurities keep Jinx from fully committing to anyone, and he may lose Jayden if he can't put his past behind him.
Jayden Dempsey always wanted out of his life in small-town Alabama. When his parents kicked him out after he told them he was gay, Jayden decided the time was right to move on. He crosses the country to try out for 'Singers!', a show that propels unknowns to stardom. In a twist, producers choose him and three others as winners and form a boy band called London Boys. This season, the show brings Jayden and the guys back for the finale. Surprise! The contest's heavy metal finalist will be singing with Skull Blasters. Jinx and Jayden's initial meeting doesn't go so well, and Jayden's stunned when the guy he's crushed on for years turns out to be a total jerk. It doesn't stop him from falling into Jinx's arms every time they're alone, but Jayden didn't sign on for one nighters. He wants Jinx Jett, baggage and all.
Can a former teen outcast put rejection behind him and embrace the acceptance standing right in front of him? How much will one boy bander put up with from his rock idol before enough is enough? Can they make it work? Or are they jinxed in love?
I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!
This was an oke read. Could have used a bit more steam, but I still enjoyed reading it.
Didn't read the first book, because a lot of my friends gave that one a bad review, but this can be read as a stand alone, so I had no trouble following the storyline.
Mostly enjoyable, but all the slutshaming got tiring. And everyone being so Team Jayden was annoying. Some balance would've been nice. I do like that Jinx was called on his crap, but Jayden had his own baggage that wasn't really addressed. I liked them together otherwise though and I enjoyed the book.
Struggling to connect with these guys as much as I have with the assassin shifter series. As much as I liked Jinx and Jayden I found their story to be a little all over the play and to not flow very well. I'm sure I will be in the minority with this review but it's just the way if feel.
I will carry with this series though as i'm looking forward to Harley's book :)
Well, Sandrine Gasq-Dion has done again by banging out another winner with Jinxed, her second book from her Rock Series. In this installment we meet Josiah Jinx Jett, drummer for The Skull Blasters. What is it with drummers? They always seem to be the the most devilish and craziest of the lot ~ maybe that's what's so enchanting about them; who's gonna be THE one to capture their heart?
In the first book, Fret, Jinx and Gareth met Jayden in the mall where he asked them for an autograph, completely in awe that they were even walking around IN a mall! Little did Jinx ever imagine that he'd cross paths with Jayden again ~ or at least his talented mouth, in a bathroom stall of a gay bar, all courtesy of a soon to be occupied glory hole! After they both walked out of the stalls and came face to face with each other, the shock and element of surprise immediately turned into an all consuming lust for each other; yet, it was hysterically funny at the same time. "I didn't know if I should stay or what. I mean, how does this work? Do I thank you for a fabulous blowjob? Tipping seems to cross a legal line ..."
As their story moved along, Jinx and Jayden hit some highs and lows along the way. The biggest issue was when Jinx found out that Jayden was in a group called the London Boys, an extremely popular boy-band. Jinx had a major problem with the boy-band thing and his actions were ridiculously immature and hurtful to Jayden. Boy did Jayden's talent prove him wrong! Funny, it was always Gareth, the youngest of them all, who was the voice of reason, the one with the most sound advice and the biggest heart, that helped to keep these two on the same page.
Along with their own story, were all the other stories that gave this book the perfect amount of depth. Sandrine really showed us this time around, what all these guys are made of. In the first book, Paul, a former bandmate who put Gareth's life at stake, wound up in a private mental hospital. Instead of leaving Paul on his own and removing him from their lives, the guys (including Gareth) visited him and encouraged him to get better. I love the hulking bodyguards Hammer, Achilles, Buster and of course Axel, Gareth's husband. The banter between the guys in the band is always so much fun; they all have each other's back no matter what because they're family. Harley's story has started to surface as Achilles has been watching him like a hawk. With the bit of his storyline given at the end of this book, I've a feeling that it'll be a heartbreaker. But one thing's certain, no matter how painful Harley's situation might be, you can rest assure that the guys in Sandrine's crew will be there (maybe along with some hot love interest!) to help him ease his burden. This was an amazing, well written, five penguin, five pebble read for me! Thanks Sandrine, you rock!
Overall book rating: 4.5 Stars Audio book: n/a Book Cover: 3 Stars MC1: Jinx - Metal band MC2: Jayden - Boy band
Boy oh Body did I enjoy this book!! At times I was laughing so loud the people around me thought I was crazy. LOL
The book starts out with Jinx in a bit of a blender with some visitors using him as a "CONDO" "I faced the doctor and motioned to my crotch. "It itches." Doc squatted with his face right in my junk. "Ah, yes. I do see the problem.""It's ... crabs, isn't it?"
"My phone dinged and I picked it up off the end table speaking of the devil. "Rebel." "Mr. Crabs." "Oh. ha ha." "I'd like a crabby patty. "
Jinx hate boy band "I had no use for them, becauese as far as I was concerned, they didn't even have any real talent. They just stood around a mic, sang na-na-na-naaa and pocketed the paycheck."
This was funny as hell just to think about I mean metal band member falls in love with boyband member is just sound weird lol
I can just imagine seeing Jinx and Harley dance to his song LOL
At the end Jinx wins his heart by singing this:
This was really a very special book for me I just loved every word. I love Jinx and Jayden they just fit together. I am so glad everything worked out for them at the end.
Where book 1 (FRET) was good, telling us Gareth and Axel’s story, this book was flat out amazing!
Miss Gasq-Dion put everything in this book that you can possibly think or dream about. I expected it to be good because I really liked the first book already and I love me some rock star but this hit it out of the park.
After reading the first book, which I encourage to do, you won’t be able to help wanting to read Jinx’s story. You will by dying to know what happened to him, what pushes him and makes him tick. As the blurb tells us, Jinx likes the life he is leading of the big time rock star and that includes all benefits and groupies, yet seeing Gareth and his husband makes him wonder. When he decides to act on one of those feelings he finds an unexpected surprise at the other end!
When Jared, who definitely had his struggles coming out and standing tall, meets Jinx for the first time he fanboys all over him, having idolized the Skull Blaster drummer ever since he can remember, collecting everything there was about him. When they meet totally out of the blue for a second time, the cards are totally different and Jared finds himself totally engrossed with Jinx Jett.
Jinx finds himself in an unwanted position when Jared is gone and he himself needs to go out with the band for a huge tour. There is no denying Jared opened up something inside him that he can’t decide if it should have stayed hidden, or if it was always meant to come out.
Jared and especially Jinx have some serious issues to overcome before they can even begin to think about having anything close to something serious. Not to mention the part about Jinx having to come out literally despite what we find out during the book what was taught to him growing up.
One of the special things in this book is the family and the changes they go through. Both set of parents have some major issues behind their name but still author Sandrine Gasq-Dion made them part of this story in a most unexpected way that as a reader you can even wrap your head about the things that happened. Very suprisingly to me I admit it touched me personally.
If you are familiar with this authors work you know you can expect some smoking hot scenes and this story is no exception to that. The sex and dare I say the love is burning from your screen and makes you hot and bothered yet very warm inside and is kind of a metaphor for this story in total.
I love all the characters in this series, the band members & the entourage, and it makes me anxious to read all their stories and extremely happy to see things like the sneak preview at the end of this book knowing and Harley’s story is coming. I hope the wait won’t be too long
A definite 5 heart rating for me and if I could I would have added a star to it.

I really didn't like Fret that much but I thought maybe this one would show improvement. I think the grammar was a little better but the so-called plot was just awful. It's been a while but I know I enjoyed most of the Men of Manhattan series. They had some plausible details. This one made little sense and was so chicks with dicks, I'm not sure why I kept reading. The first two chapters were a Public Service ad that condoms don't prevent crabs. Nearly two whole chapters were about his pubic lice. Fool that I am, I kept reading. He then becomes schizo, since he has his first gay experience with Jayden, then sees him again and treats him like crap because he's in a boy-band. Apparently when his dad tore down his boy band posters and said he didn't want him to be gay, it traumatized him for life. Okaaaaay... Then because he wasn't as attractive in high school and girls wouldn't date him, it was a good reason to become a man-whore. The implausibility snowballed through the whole thing. No more of these for me. I've given up my Kindle Unlimited subscription because all I seem to find is terrible to mediocre books. At least I'll know to avoid these.
I am actually enjoying this series of books. I liked Jayden and Jinx together. Liked the small amount of angst but was glad that the two of them got over it quickly. I am glad Jinx didnt sit on the fence about being gay or have issues coming out. Loved that there was plenty of time with the other guys in the bands. Cant wait to read Harley and Achilles' story.

The story in Jinxed is one of the main reasons I am such a book series addict. I had really enjoyed reading Fret and the introduction to the band members of the Skull Blasters. The first book was about Gareth the guitarist as he came out, was harassed, and then fell in love with his bodyguard. The interaction with the band members was good but they all seemed pretty straight so I wasn’t sure what they would do about other books in the series until the very end, where a teaser occurred and Jinx the drummer did a double take at the sight of a young man at the mall.
Jinxed takes place almost immediately after that run in. Signing an autograph for Jayden while shopping at the mall, sparks Jinx’s bi-curiosity. But it doesn’t change his womanizing, and promiscuous ways. One case of the crabs too many and a little more questioning leads him to a gay bar where he runs into Jayden who he hasn’t quite been able to forget. Even though they swap some bodily fluids, Jayden pulls a disappearing act knowing exactly what kind of reputation Jinx has. So when they both end up working on the same music reality competition, tensions arise. Especially when Jinx realized that Jayden was a famous (gasp!) boybander. The reason for Jinx’s animosity at this news isn’t understandable to the reader at this point but it creates this sort of lovers to enemies reversal. The flame of attraction just won’t die for either of them, though.
While I enjoyed Fret, I have to say that I loved Jinxed. This story didn’t hold the same mystery that Fret did, but the characters were stronger and their pasts a bit more complicated. For Jinx, we realize what makes him dislike boy bands so much, which is not just for the sake of the completely opposite type of music his band creates. But it goes deeper and we realize that Jinx might have been bi-curious a lot longer than his meeting with Jayden. And he has past self-image issues on top of all that. For Jayden, his past involves his coming out to his parents and their negative reaction. His main roadblocks to forming a relationship with Jinx, though, lie in Jinx’s man-whoring and the fact that it played out so publicly.
The rest of the secondary characters were also explored further. Suddenly the band that I thought was mostly straight in Fret seemed to be made up of characters that were more bisexual than heterosexual. Gareth plays a big part in moving along the romance for Jinx and Jayden, Ransom and Rebel both seem open to exploring sex and/or relationships with men. Harley seems to be a huge mess, that I didn’t notice before. He acts out, and tries to shake off his bodyguard. His past is explained and I’m very excited that the next book will be focused on him. Their current and former managers both seem to be telling me they need a story too, so I’m hoping that the author will be writing for them as well. I have now completely fallen for the band, the bodyguards, and almost every character that has been introduced because they were written so well in Jinxed. I definitely recommend it, and I know I will be reading more in this series and more from this author.

REVIEW: Once more Sandrine has delivered a Grade A+ book with this second installment of The Rock Series. In this book we are invited into the life of Jinx Jett and his path of discovery of going from Man Whore to a One Man’s Man. Watching him struggle with his past, his fears and his insecurities we are allowed to delve deeper in not only his world, but the boy’s of The Skull Blasters. We are also introduced more intimately to Jayden Dempsey, member of a Boy Band with the heart of a Metal God and the soul of a Angle. On the surface you would never think these two would ever connect, but Boy ‘O Boy do they!!!
I have always loved Sandrine’s books, and with each one you are treated to a story of such passion and angst that you can not help getting emotionally involved in the lives portrayed on the pages of her books. The way that she interweave the lives and stories of multiple characters into a beautiful tapestry is beyond amazing. The way that she flows from book to book is utterly amazing and something few writers can pull off. She seems to do it so effortlessly is just a testament to her skills and abilities as a writer.
This is a series I would highly recommend to everyone beginning with the first book FRET; as well as all the bodies of works in this amazing authors repertoire.
Jinxed is Book #2 in Sandrine Gasq-Dion's The Rock Series. Each book will feature a different band member with this one based on the drummer of "Skull Blasters" Jinx Jett.
First I'll start with saying I absolutely Love this Series and this book I was so hooked that life around me stopped. Yep!! I warned everyone that they were on their own "Do Not Disturb" Sandrine created another brilliant masterpiece with this once again.
We met Jinx in book #1 which was Gareth Wolf's story, I absolutely fell in love with him I laughed so much and knew when it was his turn to tell his story it was going to be epic, and Sandrine did not disappoint like with all her other books this one Rocked.
While growing up overweight , acne prone and never being able to land a date he's now known for being the "Manwhore" of the group, he's there for everyone and lives his life going from woman to woman no cares in the world but..... when he is stopped by a certain fan for his autograph ( who unknown to him is also a musician ) things change for him as he questions the fact that he is suddenly attracted to this hot blond , who happens to be a guy.
Jayden Dempsey is from small town Alabama his world was turned around one day when he told his parents he was gay . Instead of letting it get him down Jayden set out to fulfill his dreams of being a musician.
Trying out for the show Singers Jayden and three others were picked and formed the band The London Boys. Jayden's life takes a turn one night when the one guy whose he's crushed on and looked up to happens to be cruising in the same gay bar as him ( yep you guessed it Jinx) and life as he knew suddenly takes a major turn.
Their first meeting was very hot the chemistry between these two was scorching things began to escalate until they are forced to work together and Jinx shows a side of himself that totally is unexpected to Jayden leaving them in a love hate relationship. Jayden refuses to be kept in the shadows he's not going to hide anymore so this begins a tug of war between them both.
Jinx struggles so much from his past and it spills out in the way he treats Jayden, he wants him and misses him when not around but until Jinx learns to come to grips with his demons and prove to Jayden that he is in this for the long haul things go south and while reading this my heart broke and I was so engrossed with these guys rooting for them to just open up learn to communicate so they can get their HEA they so much deserved.
I'll leave you here, but note that the journey these two go through is so emotional, so heartfelt you have to read this and feel it for yourselves please Do Not miss out on this absolutely beautiful story that will draw you in and stay with you for such a long time. Oh and yes you get some great Hot Steamy sex scenes too while you're at it "inserts grin"
Sandrine also gives us a sneak peek at book #3 which will be Harley's story and OMGGGGGGGG I cannot not wait for this.
Sexy Rock Star, Jinx Jett..who has everything going for him....except his own self destructive behaviors.
Boy band member, Jayden, is trying to find his way and live an out and proud life...
What could these two have in common? More than they realize..until they get to know each other. This is a really fun, quirky. Romantic story that follows the friends to lovers trope along with the taming the bad boy trope. I love both!
I Feel like a Love Song....
Empty spaces fill me up with holes Distant faces with no place left to go Without you within me, I can find no rest Where I'm goin' is anybody's guess
I tried to go on like I never knew you I'm awake but my world is half asleep I pray for this heart to be unbroken But without you, all I'm going to be is incomplete
Voices tell me I should carry on But I am swimming in an ocean all alone Baby, my baby, it's written on your face You still wonder if we made a big mistake
I tried to go on like I never knew you I'm awake but my world is half asleep I pray for this heart to be unbroken But without you, all I'm going to be is incomplete
I don't mean to drag it on But I can't seem to let you go I don't wanna make you face this world alone I want to let you go (Alone)
I tried to go on like I never knew you I'm awake but my world is half asleep I pray for this heart to be unbroken But without you, all I'm going to be is incomplete Incomplete
Jinx and Jayden quickly figure out their passion for one another is off the chart but can it spark to a full relationship or are they doomed to never know. With the pressure of coming out for Jinx, the fast paced careers they both lead, numerous responsibilities and scheduling conflicts. These two guys have to decide if finding their perfect match is something in the stars for them or if they are forever doomed to life as single men.
I loved the little sentiments the author placed throughout this book. Overall a great book with lots of hot action between Jinx and Jayden!
When a fan stops Jinx Jett at the mall for an autograph, Jinx is only slightly shocked at his reaction to the cute blonde. The full time drummer and resident man whore of the hot rock band, the Skullblasters, usually only beds women, lots of women. But he can recognize attraction when he feels it, and he's definitely attracted to said blonde. The problem is Jinx's issues with the person he used to be compared to who he is now. Growing up overweight and unpopular left a mark on his psyche, so now he latches onto anyone and everyone that shows interest.
Jayden Dempsey is beyond shocked to learn that the guy on the other side of the wall is the one and only Jinx Jett. Jayden has crushed on Jinx for years, he looks up to him and oddly, Jinx is somewhat of a role model for Jayden. They share a mutual attraction and one hotter than hot night before Jinx destroys any hope of something more with Jayden with his big, fat, mouth.
Forced to work together, these two have a love hate relationship from the start. Every time they are in the same room, they wind up pretty much on top of each other, but communication is not their best quality, so it always ends badly. It takes a series of mistakes for Jinx to realize that Jayden is not only the first person but the only person he truly wants to be with, not just another notch in his belt. But Jayden refuses to be Jinx's dirty little secret. It will take a huge leap of faith on Jinx part to convince Jayden his feelings are true and honest.
I loved the chemistry these two shared. It was white hot and electric from the start, it's the communication they will have to work on. The push and pull was very intriguing, it is what kept me engrossed in the story. Jinx wants Jayden, misses him when he isn't there, but he struggles with personal issues that bleed over into the relationship. Jayden wants Jinx just as badly if not more, his struggle is with the fact that he lost everything when he came out, and therefore refuses to be kept in the shadows waiting for Jinx to pull his head out of his ass. There was a lot of personal growth and character development as well, on both sides, and that gave the story depth.
I will say, some people might read this book and think it's an insta-love story, but it's not. Pay close attention to the time frame and how a brief sentence or word will show a longer lapse in time than just reading through the chapters conveys. I am quite anxious for the next book in this story, Gasq--Dion has been teasing it for two books now. Definitely a must read series, full of sexy rockers that are passionate about every aspect of their lives, personal and professional.

Jinx Jett plays drums in Skull Blasters and loves some hard rock. He’s also a bit of a manwhore and no matter how careful he is, comes home with some STD after every tour. Jayden loves to play music and has made it to the finals in a reality competition. But in the end, one of the judges decides the finalists would be better in a new boy band, the London Boys. Happy to just be making music, Jayden makes the best of it and they are climbing the charts. Jinx and Jayden meet and sparks fly but when closeted Jinx finds out Jayden is in a boy band will he be too embarrassed to be seen together in private as well as public?
“’You liked it?’ Jayden gaped in astonishment.
‘Like it?’ I laughed. ‘Fuck yeah, I fucking loved it.’
And just like that, Jayden was on me as if I was a piece of playground equipment. His legs wrapped around my hips and we smacked into the wall behind me. He attacked my mouth, his tongue pushing inside until I surrendered to him. A moan rumbled from his throat and I gripped his hips tightly, sucking on his tongue.
Damn, the guy could kiss, too. Was he good at everything? My dick was hard again as Jayden slid up and down my body, his mouth never leaving mine. His cock was just as hard as mine; I felt it as it rubbed up against my stomach. Should I grab it? I was kissing a dude and I was wondering if I should grab his cock? I think I left my brains, along with my load, in the stall.”
This is the second book in The Rock Series. I love to read M/M and stories about rock stars so this pushes two of my buttons. Jayden is a cute and talented guy. You root for him the entire story, wanting him to find true love. I actually wanted to punch Jinx most of the story. He has so many issues which cause him to behave like a jerk that I almost didn’t want him to end up with a great guy like Jayden. Eventually, he redeemed himself to me.
If you enjoy M/M, you should give this Rock series a try. She also has an assassin shifter series that is really good. I know that I’ll be reading the next book because the guys have become my obsession. Hopefully they’ll enjoy me being their biggest stalker…I mean fan.
I have been waiting for this story, as I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Jinx or not – he seemed like someone who was used to having woman falling at his feet, and in his bed.... total slut. However, the more I read about him, the more I realised that this was just a front that he put on for people – and most people believed that was what he was like, only the other members of band knew differently. After a doctor visit that turned him off women for a while, he decides to visit a gay bar, and is pointed into the direction of the bathrooms at the back which are complete with glory holes! Oh wow, Jinx gets himself a blow job, but also one that was out of this world…. And when he sees who the person was who seemed to be an expert, it was none other than Jayden, whom he had met a while ago while out with Gareth. They have one night together, which is one I don’t Jinx will forget for a long time, his first experience of gay sex, and he seems to feel like he has realised what has been missing from his life – not a woman, but a man in it. However, the following morning Jayden is gone, no note or message, and Jinx doesn’t like the feelings he is having, even though it is what he used to do! Jinx is not sure exactly what he is feeling, but Jayden has stirred something inside him, but something from his past holds him back from letting his true feelings show. Jayden was kicked out of his parents’ home when he came out, and he has decided that he will not be hidden away, and tells this to Jinx. Jinx is also not sure if Jayden is just with him just because of who he is, but Jayden completely rocks his world when he tells him a few home truths, and then walks away from him again. Can Jinx get over his past and confront his demons to set himself free to love Jayden? Will he ever let Jayden see the man he is, rather than the front he puts on? Will Jayden ever forgive him for the way he has treated him? This book was one that I couldn’t put down once I started reading, and I absolutely loved the storyline, and it actually changed how I thought of Jinx too, he is not a shallow person at all, in fact he is the complete opposite. I also look forward to seeing how Jayden and Jinx get on together in future books too.

So, we'll start with the bad, then move on to the good. It's not really bad, per se. It's just something that really irritates me. This is hard for me, because I HATE feeling like I'm going to hurt someone's feelings, but that's what I signed up for. I've read both books in this series now, and these are the only books by this author I've read. I love her stories, but I don't care for her writing style, or rather her use of punctuation and sometimes wording. I hope this will make sense. I don't care for the fact that her characters feel so animated. This makes it hard to take them seriously. A lot of this has to do with her punctuation. She uses loads of exclamation points, and most times they are in places where I just feel they aren't needed. This takes away from the story for me. I picture the characters talking calmly to one another, then all of a sudden an exclamation point comes at the end of the sentence, and I can't get past that. It totally changes the tone of the conversation from the way I imagined it. I find this very distracting, especially during a sex scene.
Now onto the good. I loved the story itself. The plot is good and I enjoyed getting to revisit the members of Skull Blasters and of course I loved the brief cameo by Ann Lister's Rock Gods. The characters were likable. The chemistry between Jinx and Jayden was hot. The sex was steamy, although I could have done without the multiple exclamation points and I found some of the wording during the sex scenes bordered on the line of cheesy. There were quite a few eye rolls. I want to be turned on by a sex scene, not roll my eyes.
There was a conflict in the book that was resolved, but I didn't feel the author explained the reason why it occurred in the first place. It just left the conflict feeling unresolved. I am truly on the fence about Harley's book. I loved and connected him, but as I've stated above, I just don't care for her writing style. I think Harley's story will be really deep and emotional, and this author's punctuation and wording just isn't conducive to deep and emotional in my opinion.
Jinx the resident man whore has got a few new friends from his latest conquest. Ok so they're not friends they're little critters that have made a home on his junk! Yuck!!! Tired of the string of women he starts thinking more and more of the cute guy he met at the mall months ago. And while he's not totally shocked a his new interest he's still trying to get used to the idea. Seeing Jayden again though changes everything.
Being in a boy band wasn't exactly the way he wanted to get to the top of the music charts, but hey don't ever look a gift horse... Seeing his favorite drummer again after their brief encounter at the mall has him wanting things he knows a man whore like Jinx won't give him. But then what if he does?
Jinx has a few issues he is trying to work out with his dad and it keeps him from fully committing to Jayden right away causing a heap of trouble. He is fun to be around and cares from his family although if he is the one in need he doesn't hesitate to ask for help.
Jayden is a total sweetie, I loved the brief glimpse of him we saw in Fret and seeing his story now made me fall for him even more. And don't let the fact that he's in a boy band fool you, he has a dirty streak to him that makes him even hotter.
The way they grew up helped them become who they are and neither is afraid of being that person, but hurts from the past do make them cautious and that's where the drama comes in for them.
Love, love, loved these two and they story was amazing. Written like they are truly people you get to know you find yourself rooting for them the whole time.
There are also glimpses of the next guys who will get their book and it makes it all the more exciting to see what comes next!
I took the time to read the first book which I loved, Fret, though this can be read as a stand alone. When a new book is written for a series I always reread so i can appreciate the characters that are included in the new books, which wrecks havoc on my TBR list. In this book we meet the drummer Jinx Jett from the metal band Skull Blasters. The band is asked to play with the winners of a idol type show in LA. While there Jinx lays his eyes on an acquaintance from his recent past . Too funny how they met. Jinx was is the man whore of the group, whose sexuality is fluid trying to decide who he is. Jayden Dempsey is a singer in a boy band called The London Boys. Who was discovered on the same idol type show so the group h as to play at the finale in LA. Jinx is shocked to see Jayden who is just as shocked. The attraction is still there from their first meeting. They rekindle where they left off. Very sweet very sexy. I loved these two characters and how they fell in love so sweet. I can't wait to read the next one i especially loved how the parents are dealt with in this book. Jayden was licked out of his home when he came out. He went to LA with dreams os being in a band. Jinx was afraid to come out for fear of parental rejection. I can't wait to see them in the next book Harley's Achilles. Which I know will be as great as the first two. Sandrine Gasq-Dion is one of my favorite authors she writes well and tells one hell of an excellent story.
There are great characters in this series. All tightly knit group of friends that have been together from childhood. Jinx and Jayden are both sentimental and a the make a really sweet couple. Again, not very believable that every single rock star or person that passes them by are gay. With everyone gay you would think that parents would be upset if you were straight. Not that I want to read about straight people but having straight couples would be more realistic and liven up the story. A bunch of soft mushy men who are always crying or over sharing feelings isn't exactly a turn on. I can't however wait to see how Achilles and Harley story will unfold. Watching them so far has been intriguing but at the end you are given a preview for their story and most of it was a out how Jinx and Jayden met and fell in love. NOT Necessary!!! This is a series..you can read and figure out who is who on your own. If a reader can not figure it out then they could read the series from the start. It is a problem in her other series as well. To much time is wasted on updating us on the other couples that our new Main characters story suffers.
Jinx Jett is a character you will either really love or really hate. For me, I think he is a big ol' douchcanoe for most of the book, but that's MOP. In the first half of the book he doesn't have, or show the reader really any redeeming qualities. He is mostly crass, rude and a big slut. In reality he really isn’t that one dimensional but he is trying desperately to keep his demons at bay.
I really do have to give the author praise for the fact that even after the MC's meet, and the sex is hot and frequent but it doesn't "fix" things right away. Even with the hot sex and passion, there is an equal amount of bitchiness, iciness and rudeness and jabs about talent. Jinx really doesn’t endear himself to Jayden, his friends or us readers. He has some pretty big hurdles to overcome and no amount of apologizing before things can run smoothly!
Toward the end Jinx does come clean and tries to redeem himself, and he does a pretty good job of it too. Even though his sweetness come through at the end, I still think he's a dick.
I can't wait until the next book in the series.....Harley...Please!!!
What's better than combining rock stars, ex-military now bodyguards and boy band singers. I so enjoyed the first book in this series,Gareth and Axel was a great couple. They were so different in one way and so alike in others. You will enjoy Jinx and Jayden just as much. Jayden is gay and out very openly. His parents had kicked him out after he came out as gay. He leaves Alabama and goes to LA to try out on a singing show. Him and three others are combined to make a boy band. They are doing well and making a lot of money. Jinx had a difficult childhood in school. He was a little heavy set had bad acne and wasn't very well accepted in school. He liked boy bands and when his dad found out he told him to quit listening to that stuff before he turned gay. He is attracted to Jayden but always seems to screw everything up. Read this book and enjoy the story. Waiting for Harley's story next.
I love this series. Great storyline, characters you just can't help fall in love with, these Rock stars are amazing. Jinx and Jayden meet and have a night of passion. But Jinx has massive hang ups, and he treats Jayden like crap. Finally, Jayden puts a stop to it and leaves Jinx. That leaves Jinx questioning everything and in order to get his man, Jinx has to confront his fears and make the grand gesture to show Jayden just how much he means to Jinx.
Great to see the Rock Gods and Skull Blasters! Cannot wait for the next book!!
Jinxed can be read as a standalone, tho it is part of a series. This was a good read, kept me entertained to the end.
If you have read this authors work before, you know your are In for so smoking hot science, and jinxed is no exception to that.
Why 3.5 Stars, I found that this story was not for me I didn't connect with the characters, I normally don't read rocker stories. Other then that knock yourself out, go one click and enjoy !!
Much better than the first book in the series (and I enjoyed Fret). Some serious LOL moments. Jinx has a fun and snarky internal monologue, something I adore in a MC. Conversations like this kept me in stitches:
"I owe you? How many have you slept with, Jinx? It seems to me you've done the walk of shame nearly every tour and in between!"
I narrowed my eyes and fixed him with a look. "It's not the walk of shame, it's the 'just got laid parade'."
3.5 Stars Enjoyed the second book. Jinx and Jayden were well matched. I liked that Jayden stood up for himself when required Looking forward to Harley's story
First, you probably don't have to read the previous story, but I think it would be a good idea. Next, my reviews for this and the following 3 will basically be the same.
This author does a really good job in turning out stories quickly. Each story keeps the feel of the others, but has enough difference between couples to make each interesting. These are easy reads meant to entertain not be the next great novel, and they fill this role admirably. The editing was not as bad as many m/m stories, and I was rarely thrown out of the story. My biggest complaint was too many names starting with especially J followed by R. Those sensitive to insta-love may may be tweaked with these stories, but not as much with this 2nd one.
THINGS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION WITH MY REVIEWS: I basically read only m/m (like 250+ to 1 vs m/f). This is relevant because all ratings are in comparison to other m/m books. For those that read mainstream books from major publishers OR that are very particular, I would remove at least one star from my rating. I'm a very laid back reader who simply enjoys reading. I don't look for issues. I can miss things others may see. It typically has to both jump out at me and stay with me for me to make note of it.
As a rule, my ratings are also based on a book's purpose and in comparison to others of similar length or type. I don't feel having the same expectations for a quick read as a novel is a fair comparison nor comparing those whose purpose is to be "brain candy" (easy, formulaic, fun reads, often serials, by authors with a very high and quick rate of publishing.)
