I am finally getting back to this series, which began to come out in a series of volumes with some acclaim in 2004. Produced as part of ComicsLit, which specifically works toward “exploring our lives, our feelings, our experiences.” Those experiences and feelings are of Marco, a photographer who has been photographing some workers at the factory where his father worked. These men face hardships and Marco wants to honor them. But will the Srt World honor them, as well? A chance encounter gives him the opportunty to exhibit his work with a famous, volatile artist and three hip, avante-garde young men who don't really care for his work, but it's still a step up for him, an honor.
Marco's father is in decline, facing depression because of increasing dementia. But he's getting along wiht his brother and his family, and his relationship woth veterinarian Emile is proceeding. Marco has psych problems, anger problems, but he seems to be moving forward. Warm, inviting, story with goofy, cartoonish art that makes it feel intimate. I like this story.
