Who did it?

Someone bombed New York. In a near miss on Washington a second city has been destroyed. Is it militant Muslims? White Separatists? Russia? China? North Korea? Or the worst serial killer of all time—not taking one life
or even twenty, but four million?

No One Knows.

Lost religious texts appear. Entire faiths are rocked to their foundations. Well-known, highly-respected clerics thought to have been killed by the New York and Virginia City bombs are being kidnapped. . .

For two brothers Franklin and Everon, the loss, the motivation,
is very personal.

While Everon’s team struggles to restore a power system devastated by the bombs’ EMP, Franklin works to restore the personal power of individuals in his emotionally distraught congregation, and those behind the bombs begin to reveal themselves. As clues come fast and furious, the brothers’ own lives become imperiled when
the bombers’ sights are set on them.

find something to hold onto!

there isn't much respite buried in this book. its primary essence is "rapidly intense" and once you rev it up, there's no refund. it's the first of a twin tale about the unthinkable happening right under the noses of four million people who will never again see the light of day. centered upon and driven by two half brothers who each resort to different power sources, the ins and outs stretch from the northwest all the way to China, Japan and Korea, sweeping up the Middle East in its wake, and employs several old standby human philosophical bombshells like greed, bigotry, and puredee unchecked evil to keep the plot ticklish. I just feel sorry for the owl.

Loss of Reason was a compelling read with an unsatisfactory cliff hanger end.
I decided to read Search for Reason and give the author a chance to redeem himself and give us a complete story.
Didn't happen. once again a compelling read, with much going on in differing locations at the same time.
Another cliff hanger!
I like a book that leaves me wanting more, but these books leave me feeling duped into buying the next book and then the next in the hope of some kind of ending which may or may not happen.
So... I have my own conclusion, you've lost me as a reader.

Greatest Conspiracy.

I could waffle on about superb plotting, world building, tension, global overview, and awesome characterisation, those things are very true but I won’t. All anyone needs to know is that this book, this series will set the brain aflame and the heart pounding right from the start. It’s that good!

Love this series. Easy read,. I liked the characters, and there were secondary plots and twists to keep it interesting. While I don't mind at all. The three way relationship, particularly with someone in his very first relationship, was a stretch of the imagination.

The second in the series; just as enjoyable but so much going on that it was a bit confusing. This book highlights Franklin and the owl he rescued from NY, another attack, a bird sanctuary, trouble at his church, a white separatist group, and a huge sumo like Asian. On to book 3…

Exciting and thought prevoking

Great series. Makes you wonder what you would do it if you'd even survive a nuclear fallout. And would it be a single crazy or another country

This was a very good read for the second book of the series. The more I read, the more I wanted to read. Looking forward to starting the third book of the series, and seeing what exploits Everon and Franklin are involved in.

Cliff hanger

I do not like cliff hangers. This book kept me wanting to know 'who done it', but it is so disjointed that I will never know.

The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bast**d die for his. - George S. Patton

SEARCH FOR REASON is the second book in the STATE OF REASON series. I enjoyed the first book in the series LOSS OF REASON but this offering is much meatier and fills in the characters and the details of the story.

Brothers Everon and Franklin are the focus again in book two. A good portion of the book tells of Everon's efforts to get power restored to a portion of the East coast. There were a lot of technical details, which were interesting, but I felt were rather overblown. We (the reader) would have gotten the idea with half the words. And the diagrams included with the text were so small that they were practically unreadable.

Franklin tries to figure out the "whys" of the terrible disasters that have hit the East coast of the United States and gets drawn in to many scary scenarios.

There is a LOT of information in this second book, with stories that start in Nevada and end up in Pennsylvania, with side trips along the way - to Utah and Iran just to mention a couple.

I am thoroughly confused - but in a good way. I can usually figure out where a book is headed early on but with this series I have no idea where the author is headed.

Science, electrical engineering, different religions and theology, well-fleshed out characters (good guys and bad), some romance thrown in - mix all these ingredients together and you get a wowser of a tale.

There's another cliffhanger of an ending so I hope author Maxwell doesn't take too long to get us book three in the series FINDING REASON, due out sometime this year.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out. I am dying to know what happens. The author left the book in a great cliffhanger, but I'll never tell. You'll just have to read it for yourself. The book was amazing. This author really put so much into this book. You can tell that a lot of research had to be done, in order to write it. There is, religion, languages, aviation, science, history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and medicine in this book. Talk about meaty. This is a DEEP read, but a FUN one. You will not be disappointed at all. This book will make you question and think. It is especially thought provoking considering its connection to today's newsworthy stories in the media. Read the book and you'll see what I mean. This book was so good that I stayed up all night just to finish it. I can't wait to see what else this author has to offer. Also, it says a lot about the book for me to write a review because it's not something I do on a regular basis, unless I have to.

Search For Reason by Miles A. Maxwell is the 2nd book in the State of Reason Series and like the first book this one kept me on the edge of my set while reading it.

The author did a great job of picking up the storyline where the first book left off and continued to develop a tail of intrigue and adventure. The fast past nature of the book and the action made it fun to read and follow the various plot line.

I really liked the characters Miles A. Maxwell has created and it was great to watch them grow and develop as the story progressed. This is a book that was easy to get behind and delve deep into.

I really enjoyed Search For Reason by Miles A Maxwell and recommend this book to all readers.

A dark place

I believe inside every human there lives a dark place waiting to be found. I read a wide varity of books and authors and found this series to have something for everyone. Well written and easy to understand. I am 68 years young and can honestly say this series is awesome. I can hardly wait for the next one. One was great, two was awesome, come on three. By then I will be rested up from reading the other two nonstop. Good work Mr Maxwell. P.S. I have never written a review before but felt you deserved one. Keep up the great work.

Good ideas that make one think it fits with todays newds.

Would have been a five without the sex thrown in , made me think it was turning into a romance book. Enjoyed the first two books hopefully the third book is written with an ending that pulls everything together, so many books end as though the author ran out of ideas.

Really struggled with this book. Loved the first one of the series but found this one to be very fragmented. Did we really need a series if advanced tutorials on electricity grid maintenance?? I just wanted more on the main characters from the first book..

Very long and technical at times. I'm somewhat confused by the whole story. Hopefully the next book will resolve these issues.
