Skye Knizley is the USA Today bestselling author of the Storm Chronicles series, an urban fantasy tale that mixes mystery, magic and horror, Midnight Roads, her homage to road movies with a dash of mystery and horror and the Shadowlands series of modern adventure/mysteries. All of her books feature strong female leads who can hold their own the men and then some, witticisms and of course Skye’s trademark snark.

Skye lives in the middle of nowhere, the small town life appeals to her and is conducive to writing. When she isn’t writing Skye can be found camping, motorcycling and hiking with her psychotic Siberian husky.

Skye is also a proud gamer girl and an avid fan of roleplaying games. She currently participates in a weekly game held at a local gaming store (stop in and say ‘hi!’) and is the writer and game-master of a private Fantasy Flight Star Wars game held once a month.

This series must be read in order. This is the fifth book in the series.

Another nonstop thrill ride packed with action and so many plot twists it will make your head spin. I absolutely loved this book and it kept me guessing till the very end. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!

This book is suitable for adult readers only.

Yes, I finally feel that this book has earned that coveted "fifth" star. In "Raven", SK has brought things up to a new level from the previous volumes in this series, including a wonderful follow-on to the teaser that ended the previous volume. As usual, Raven is at her snarky-humored, ass-kicking self, but the snark is even better and SK's development of her main characters, including Rupert and Aspen, are quite welcome and are well done. She has also introduced some new characters, whose future in the series is yet to be determined.
This is, without question the best volume in the series. Of course, it can only be appreciated as such if the reader has taken the time to read the previous four volumes. While this could be read as a stand-alone, much appreciation of the actions of certain characters won't be fully appreciated. I don't consider it a spoiler to say that the "girlfriends" relationship between Aspen and Raven deepens in a most unexpected way. What I like is that this turn shows a growing maturity in Raven, who is learning that there is more to life than kicking "latest monster up" ass. This plot moves very fast and something I particularly enjoyed was that much of the action takes place in Boston, Mass, and it is fun to figure out some of the places SK uses yet doesn't reveal their real names. My favorite is that some of the action occurs at the "Beth Deacon" hospital, which is obviously Beth Israel-Deaconess hospital. The place is special to me because my life has been saved there as well as the lives of two family members.
Speaking of the action, it is unrelenting in this volume. It is, therefore, along with the snark, a very fast read and a compelling one at that. The new "monster" is truly unique and keeps the reader reading in trying to solve the mystery of what it is, precisely. The teaser at the end of book 4 is answered, but only at the end, and in a way that sets up the next book in a "I can't wait to read it" manner. BTW, if anyone reading this review who has read the previous book, you probably guessed right, but not exactly in the way that this reviewer had expected. It is a great and surprising turn that will rock Raven's world in an exciting and possibly problematic way.
I do feel that I must mention that SK has what is, for this reviewer, a habit of repeating certain words that I find annoying. Specifically, good guys with guns always assume a "Weaver" stance. It would be nice for SK to describe what this stance looks like. Another annoying habit is the description of any darkness as "stygian". The word is a reference to the river Styx, and in modern usage means "very dark". So, "stygian darkness" would actually mean "very dark darkness. It is a great word, but SK uses it every time, and she is a better writer than that.
Overall, the best book the series and comes with this reviewer's highest recommendation. Can't wait for the next one.

Not that this really has anything to do with the book itself but more the wannabe editor/ English majors who down grade great books like this one because of typos and other supposed grammatical errors. Yet most errors aren't really errors since the rules do evolve as I am one of those English majors. But in the end I read for enjoyment not to edit the book. If you want to be an editor go find a job being and editor, don't knock down authors who primarily sell books by kindle unlimited.
They are not making a fortune doing this, They don't have huge publishing houses with multiple editors reading and correcting every little error. Even the authors who make millions each year have typos slip thru and they ask that you don't even bother them with it. If you want to help the author, join their website or blog, give constructive criticism, show actual issues and your fixes. If you really like the author volunteer to help preread an edit. Don't throw stones, be helpful. Or read for the pure pleasure of the story and keep your snarky comments to you self.
Yes I am sure I have grammatical errors in here, But I am taking time away from my reading to comment on an irrantant to me and I am sure the only people who may comment back are the ones who gave this novel 1 to 2.5 stars for grammatical errors, but yet they never mention how Damn good the book and series are.

This series must be read in order. The first book is Stormrise. The second book is Stormrage. The third book is Stormwind. The fourth book is Shadowstorm. This is the fifth book. I can't wait for Storm to come out so I can find out what happens next!

Becoming a Federal Agent is a learning experience for Raven. She is not quite ready to deal with it but what other choice is there? She misses home. She misses Levac. At least she has Aspen. King is always evading her questions but at least he pretty much lets her do what she wants. Except he has assigned her a new partner... A new Lycan named Kole. How will she deal with babysitting a werewolf who is so new to the supernatural world? It will be worse than when Levac was just starting to see what he shouldn't! Will they figure out what is going on early enough for her to meet Aspen in Chicago for Halloween? Or will her green new partner get them both killed trying to follow human rules and human laws? Why does it seem like they are trapped in a cheesy horror movie come to life?

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy a little romance in their urban paranormal action adventure crime mystery fantasies with lots of thrills and a dash or two of horror :)

Another mystery solved

Raven, Aspen and Levac again are together to close a case and stay alive. The book was pretty fast moving and the "bad guys" were nothing like they have experienced before. It takes the whole team. Now as Raven and Aspen, they make a cute and fun couple. However, I think the relationship seems forced and moving too quickly. I just feel as if Raven is not totally sure if her own sexuality. She has been with both men and women and seemed to enjoy the men just as much. Maybe I am reading too much into this, and love is love. Be prepared this book ends in a cliffhanger.

Love this series

This series has a nice blend of action and mystery. I look forward to each new release. I prefer characters that dont need saving and Raven can take care of herself. I wish I could give it a five. Each book had a familiar formula. Weird mystery with some vampire politics thrown in. The vampire politics sometimes works but most of the time it just takes away from the story. As does the new relationship with Aspen. Im not against romance but this came out of knowhere and feels forced.

3.5 star.

Damn it. I really hate cliffhangers. Its so frustrating.

When's the next book coming out?
It's time to work on some character/background building.
There've been hints about the 'truth' and ravens identity since the first book, and if the writer keeps using the same formula i'll just start wishing for an early end to the series.

There comes a time when reading about cases being solved starts to get boring because nothing else gets developed. It's also unfortunate we didn't get to witness any relationship building/courtship/romance in these novels.

By far one of the best series I read. I've been a fan of vampires and werewolves among other things that go bump in the night way before it became cool. These books are full of page turning action and jump out at you characters. I have definitely become a huge fan of all the books the author has written. Unfortunately now I have to sit on my hands and patiently wait for the next book.

So much action! This was the most suspenseful one yet! I was almost sad not to see Levac and Raven workin side by side, but The cases they were working were so similar they were working together, in a way. This whole store was full of action, mystery, suspense, and some love. I cannot wait to read book 6.

Outstanding action, an interesting bad guy and continued development of the characters make this a fun read. And the epilogue is awesome. I picked it up and could not stop 'til I ran out of story. :)

I love this series! I can never put any of the books down once I start. The only downside is the series isn't finished so waiting on books stinks if you hate waiting like I do :)

Very good

Raven is now a FBI agent and working outside of Chicago. She is still getting weird cases, some stranger than normal.

For all the Storm Chronicle books, need much editing (editing is atrocious), but the action is so thrilling, I can hardly wait to read the next book.

Cover - love it!
