Will the code reveal history’s most powerful weapon for destruction—or humanity’s only hope?
The living members of Tom Bohannon’s band of adventurers gather again in Jerusalem—physically battered, emotionally exhausted, spiritually challenged, and in various stages of shock—to examine a copy of the tenth-century Aleppo Code, the oldest complete text of Jewish scripture. What the clues inside reveal could lead to the reuniting of the Ark of the Covenant with its true source of power, a weapon that could lead to victory for this ragged bunch trying to save the world.
Hunted by the relentless assassins of the Prophet’s Guard and caught in the web of an international conspiracy plotting the conquest of Europe, Bohannon’s team searches the ruins of Ancient Babylon. Their search lands them amid the chaos that engulfs western Iraq, but they must press on to accomplish one of the most pivotal pieces of end-times prophecy. This intrepid group will uncover secrets that require them to risk everything for their faith, their country, and the peace of all mankind.
Unfolding against the backdrop of an Israeli/U.S. strike against Iran and the planned economic overthrow of the European Union by the sinister, secret head of the international Muslim Brotherhood, The Aleppo Code is a heart-pounding race. Brennan takes an epic story on a grand scale and tells it primarily through the eyes of one man who is desperately trying to save the world as he follows God’s purpose for his life.

Well, I finally finished this series. I stumbled upon this author years ago, and read the first 2 books 📚, and loved loved loved the writing.

The biblical history & imagination of the author was phenomenal. Great story teller.

What a thrilling ride! The author takes you on the adventure of your life as you follow the twists and turns of The Aleppo Code. It has everything I enjoy in a good read--mystery, suspense, history, archaeology and spiritual implications. I enjoyed its link to Biblical truth and it prompted me to do some research. Having visited the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem and seen the dead sea scrolls, it made this read all the more exciting and real. Though lots of characters, I like this as it makes it a challenge. A strong female heroine makes it a plus! A wild ride at the end leaves you breathless!

Third book in good series

As stated in earlier reviews of the other two books in this three book series I love the concept of this work but the" devil was in the details" the books were slowed by details that were given in the various places like street by street directions and things the average reader would not care about. I think that this series would be more exciting than Dan Brown's Devinci code movie I enjoyed parts of the story and always went back to reading it just to many details for me would read another by him

Very Interesting

This is the 3rd book in the series and I have to admit, it was sometimes a slog to get through them. Part of the plot involved finding biblical artifacts that were never meant to be found. This was my least favorite part of the story. But this author clearly did much research and I found the political, geographical and cultural information absolutely fascinating. It also had really good character development so you came to truly care about these characters. A fascinating read and one I would highly recommend.

The thousand year old scroll was found in a secret room in the Bowery Mission, in New York. Tom takes his team to Jerusalem to find the third temple, and what maybe in it. A lot of research has gone into this series, and best to start with the first book. The Biblical steps, digging into archeology, the history, murder, and a plot, you are caught up in. A series well worth reading.

Best of the three books in the series this book describes a treasure hunt of unbelievable proportions. A little slow to start but once the ciphers are all figured out, then the excitement begins. I recommend this entire series.

The Jerusalem Prophecies, book 3
Kregel Publications, 2015

“A thousand-year-old manuscript reveals the existence of an ancient sanctuary. Within that sanctuary lies the most powerful weapon in the history of the world.”

The Aleppo Code by Terry Brennan is the final chapter in the mysteries deciphered from the thousand-year-old scroll and mezuzah found in the Bowery Mission. The scroll’s message, written in demotic text, leads a misfit group around the world and into Jerusalem seeking the “treasure” at the end of a long and treacherous road. Before I go any further, I must digress…

Book 1, The Sacred Cipher - “A secret room has been discovered in the Chapel of the Bowery Mission. And what’s hidden inside reveals a mystery of biblical proportions.

“When New Yorker Tom Bohannon uncovers an ancient scroll containing a dead language that has been lost in the sands of time, he doesn’t fully comprehend the danger that’s about to unfold. Though Tom and his team of ragtag scientists and historians want to decode the ancient text, others don’t want the cipher revealed. And they are prepared to kill to keep it hidden. From a market in nineteenth-century Alexandrea to a library in present-day New York to the tunnels beneath Jerusalem, the secret of the cipher is gradually revealing itself across the globe. And for those in its path, life is about to change – forever.”

Book 2, The Brotherhood Conspiracy – “A secret as old as the prophets lies hidden in an ancient code. That code may uncover an artifact as mysterious, and dangerous, as the Lost Ark.”

The Brotherhood Conspiracy continues with Bohannon’s group realizing there is another mystery on the mezuzah which was not understood in The Sacred Cipher. The groups chasing them will not stop until they have the mezuzah and scroll in their possession. Once again, the group heads out to parts unknown to seek what is hidden. “One step ahead of an ancient gang of assassins, and one step behind the deadline for impending disaster, the team encounters the death of friends and colleagues and maneuvers through a maze of political treachery, religious fanaticism, and traitorous machinations – to the very brink of judgement orchestrated by a force greater than they could have imagined.”

Book 3, The Aleppo Code - “A thousand-year-old manuscript reveals the existence of an ancient sanctuary. Within that sanctuary lies the most powerful weapon in the history of the world.”

“Having chased the secret of the Cipher through a maze of treachery, death, and destruction, Tom Bohannon’s band of explorers seems to be at a dead end. But the discovery of a tenth-century scriptural text holding the final key to the ancient code hurls them right back into the fray.”

As much as I would love to tell you the storyline and its outcome, I cannot – no spoilers in this review. All three books are amazing! Terry Brennan has woven a suspense-filled, theological mystery so real that you can “almost” imagine it happening today. His use of biblical history, archeology and present-day news and political unrest intertwined with the fictional storyline will keep you enthralled to the end!

From the opening paragraph in The Sacred Cipher to the final page in The Aleppo Code, I was pulled into the mystery of the ancient scroll. The characters were everyday people being asked to believe by faith, not by sight. People I can relate to; people who believed the unbelievable. I cheered them on, grieved with them, and peered around the tunnels along with them.

I look forward to many more reads from Terry Brennan!

A huge thank you goes to Kregel Publishing for allowing me to read and review these amazing books!

I received complimentary print copies of The Sacred Cipher, The Brotherhood Conspiracy, and The Aleppo Code from Kregel Publishing for my honest review.

This is the third book in The Jerusalem Prophecies series. One could possibly read it on its own as there is some review of the action of the previous novels given in this one. This series has a complex plot so I would recommend reading the others first.

In the previous novels, a scroll was found in a secret room under the New York Bowery Mission. After the scroll is deciphered, Tom, the executive director of the mission, heads to Jerusalem to find the third temple. There is a huge earthquake that nearly destroys the Temple Mount. Israelis and Muslims fight over control of the area. Tom and his group try to prevent another world war but there is a strong Muslim contingent who want to restore the Caliphate and have world dominion.

This novel starts with the idea that there is something that Tom and his group have yet to do. We read about the Aleppo Codex, a book written in the tenth century. It had been captured by Crusaders and hidden for centuries. Then it was ransomed by Jews and again hidden for centuries. It is the most accurate representation of the Jewish Torah in existence. The notations in the margins contain the link that help Tom find Aaron's rod. Some Jewish thinkers associated it with the very power of God. The codex notes seem to indicate the rod was returned to the Garden of Eden, underneath the historic ruins of Babylon. Tom and his team set out to get the rod before the Islamic fundamentalists do and use its force for unimaginable evil.

Yes, the plot does sound like it has an element of the imaginative in it. The previous novels did too. There is discussion in the novel as to whether Aaron's rod really does has power in itself. Some conjecture that its use in the Egyptian plagues may find a parallel in the end time plagues recorded in Revelation. Like many of God's gifts, it seems it could be used for good or evil.

This is a good novel of adventure and suspense centered around a possible scenario of the end times. The Islamic fundamentalists are powerful and make moves toward controlling the world's finances and oil supplies, eventually aiming to take over the world. I thought that aspect of the plot was very possible. It is exciting to read about the power of God being revealed again, much as it was when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea.

There is lots of action and suspense in the novel. There are several stories going on at the same time. Brennan uses the technique of jumping from one location to another as the events unfold. At times it was a bit much for me. I also had difficulty picturing some of the action and its location. The emphasis is more on the intense action than in setting the scene.

This is a good novel for those who enjoy end times fiction. Alongside the imaginative existence and location of the Garden of Eden is a very possible narrative of the end times. Many elements in the novel are based on historical fact as noted by Brennan in an Author's Note. There really is the Aleppo Codex. Several of the places and people mentioned in the book are real. Brennan has done lots of research and we learn much about the situation in the Middle East.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

Terry Brennan in his new book “The Aleppo Code” Book Three in The Jerusalem Prophecies series published by Kregel Publications gives us another thriller with Tom Bohannon. Will History’s most powerful weapon trigger humanity’s most horrifying days?

From the back cover: A thousand-year-old manuscript reveals the existence of an ancient sanctuary.

Within that sanctuary lies the most powerful weapon in the history of the world.

If you even remotely enjoyed the Indiana Jones movies then you are going to love this! Terry Brennan has not only done it again however I think he has given us the best of the series so far. Prophecy, intrigue, and terrorism saturate “The Aleppo Code“. This time it is the Code that has been found again and we are off again trying to find this ancient weapon that would be deadly in the wrong hands. Naturally there is a group that is devoted to making sure they get there first and sets about to eliminate them. “The Aleppo Code” is almost a non-stop action thriller. Mr. Brennan has put in so many twists and turns in his story that it would make a roller coaster envious. Tom, Doc, Joe and Sammy are wonderful characters that we care about, want to see escape the danger that they find themselves in and want them to succeed. Terry Brennan has given us a unique thriller that will keep you on the edge of your chair as you read and flip pages as fast as possible. I recommend this book highly!

We all know about the parting of the Red Sea by Moses, whether we have seen it on the movies, television or read about it in the Bible. Now Terry Brennan has taken the story of the staff of Aaron to a whole new level in his suspense series, Jerusalem Prophecies in his third novel, The Aleppo Code. This is a must read for fans of Indiana Jones, the DaVinci code or anyone who loves a Christian Action Suspense novel. Since this is the third novel in the series, you truly need to read the first two to understand where the characters are at in this point of the series.

Once again, Tom Bohannon has gathered together those team members that have been together since the beginning to search for the staff of Aaron that Moses used when he parted the Red Sea among the many miracles he performed. But where does one begin to look for such an object like this? By the biblical accounts it was recorded to have been contained in the Ark of the Covenant. But did it stay there? It is possible that the staff has been used from creation until it's current location whenever one of God's chosen people has needed it? Could it have been passed down throughout the generations and now lays in wait for the coming of the promised Messiah to Israel?

Utilizing every resource available to the team of experts, Tom's group must go back to the beginning of their initial search to uncover what they have missed along the way. It will take them quite literally around the world gathering pieces of seemingly random clues to point them to the ancient city of Babylon where lays buried beneath the sands of time, the gate to the Garden of Eden. Whoever finds this source of godly power in the possession of the staff will unleash the power of God and be in control of the entire world. That is something they can not let happen considering the world at this point is on the verge of World War III and this will be the deciding factor of who will win if they can possess this.

I received The Aleppo Code by Terry Brennan compliments of Kregel Publication for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation, aside from a free copy of this novel, in exchange for an honest review. This is one of my favorites when it comes to what I would call Christian Antiquities and Archaeology Fiction if there was a category. We have the team in a modern day setting in the Middle East, using clues from history to unravel the mystery while they are being hunted by various enemies against time. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and based on the way it ended, I don't think Terry Brennan has ended it just yet. Well played Mr. Brennan! I hope there is more to come and for that reason this one rates a 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

The third and final installment of Terry Brennan’s Jerusalem Prophecies series, The Aleppo Code, begins where the other books left off. The team, led by Tom Bohannon, has experienced devastation and grief in their efforts to discover the Tent of Meeting and the hidden Third Temple. But it seems something more is being asked of the group — a commitment to go where God leads looking towards Him for guidance in the face of doubts and confusion. And what God is leading them to may be a weapon for Israel’s enemies or a powerful tool in the hands of God.

Like the other books in the series, The Aleppo Code relies on Biblical history and legend, archeological finds and mysteries and modern day political conspiracy and intrigue. Brennan does an excellent job bringing all of these things together to create a fast-paced political thriller complete with terrorists, government agents and a few angels along the way. There is a vast cast of characters that I sometimes found daunting to keep straight. In the end, I just went along for the ride, enjoying the twists and turns, explosions and chases. The Aleppo Code has an Indiana Jones feel to it, but has a spiritual foundation not found in the Harrison Ford movies. Although the characters may feel out of control at many times, God’s hand is evident in bringing together His plans and purposes. In light of what is currently going on in the Middle East and Europe, the book is timely. There is much more going on behind the scenes than we could imagine.

For those who like complex political suspense with a well-researched historical foundation, The Aleppo Code is a good choice. But it is definitely not a standalone novel. You really do need to begin at the beginning.

Audience: adults.

The Aleppo Code
The Jerusalem Prophecies #3
By Terry Brennan

Will history's most powerful weapon
trigger humanity's most horrifying days?

They thought they had discovered all the pieces to the puzzle, but they were wrong. A long hidden treasure has been hidden for several millennium. A treasure that could be the most powerful weapon the world has ever known.

Tom Bohannon and his team have gathered again in Jerusalem to examine a copy of the tenth-century Aleppo Code, which may hold the answers they seek. What they discover leads them to search for the Ark of the Covenant and its true source of power. But these two artifacts have been separated since the time of Jeremiah, but the time has come for them to be reunited.

This is an intense action driven book though there are times of reflection on what their quest has cost them up to this point. With the world ready to erupt in war and tensions boiling in the Middle East Tom Bohannon's team is in even more danger as they try to stay ahead of the Prophet's Guard. But the Prophet's Guard is determined to stop them and control this ancient power.

Fans of Indiana Jones styled adventures will find much to enjoy in this third installment of the Jerusalem Prophecies series. This book appears to be the last in the series, but one never knows something could pull them back for more adventure.

An enjoyable book that needs to be read within the series structure so as to understand the references to previous events.

I purchased this book which is published by Kregel and it was worth the investment of both my money and my time.

"The Aleppo Code" is the third book in the "The Jerusalem Prophecies" trilogy. In the first book ("The Sacred Cipher"), Tom Bohannon and Joe Rodriguez stumbled on a scroll from the 1100's, which eventually led them and their cohorts to discover the Third Temple of God, built and hidden under Temple Mount in Jerusalem for centuries. Which unfortunately led to the destruction of the Temple Mount by a powerful earthquake.

In the second book ("The Brotherhood Conspiracy"), they managed to locate the "Tent of Meeting", described in the bible and missing for 3,000 years -- thus causing it to be placed on the Temple Mount as Israel's new Temple. Which unfortunately led to the destruction of the Temple Mount a second time by fire from the heavens.

In this third book, Tom and his team are reluctantly forced into trying to find the ultimate weapon -- which just happens to be the power behind the Ark of the Covenant! And of course they aren't alone in the search, as the Muslim Brotherhood also wants it to destroy the "infidels" or at least keep it out of the hands of Israel.

Tom, Joe, Annie, and Sammy go into this new seemingly impossible search while war -- both physical and financial -- is being waged between the U.S. and mid-East countries, especially Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The book combines prophecy, history, intrigue, terrorism, action, and Christianity in a fast-paced narrative. It's fairly long (~385 pages) and somewhat dense at times, but is quite readable. Like the first two books (which should be read first), I'd say this one's worth 4 stars.

First of all, if you have not read books 1 (The Sacred Cipher) and 2 (The Brotherhood Conspiracy), you really need to read them before you start The Aleppo Code. All three are action-packed and full of suspense, but all pick up where the previous book ended, so there isn't a lot of the back story being told.

Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this installment of the Jerusalem Prophecies series. I've always been a semi-history buff and one of my dream jobs as a librarian is to work with historical archaeologists as they look for biblical artifacts and help catalog them as we find them, so this book is right up my alley. Not only is it chocked full of well researched facts, but it also has the elements of suspense and current events interspersed with stories from the past and the present.

While there are some imaginative elements and leeway given with the biblical interpretation of the power of Aaron's staff, the story still made note to remind its readers that God is in charge of all situations, even when we think they're bad or evil, God can still use them for His good.

I highly recommend this series by Terry Brennan. They're the perfect combination of history and biblical speculation!

I received as copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest opinion of the book.

This whole series is exciting and worth reading, but they seemed to get better and more exciting the further I read in the trilogy.

The Aleppo Code brings back most of the same characters from the other two books and picks up right where the second book ended. The book has a very interesting plot with a race to find a Biblical artifact that leads for a search to find the Garden of Eden. There is all kinds of excitement, drama, and suspense in the novel, and it reminded me a lot of an Indiana Jones adventure, only from a Christian standpoint.

This book definitely falls into the read-in-one-sitting category. It was one that I didn't want to put down until I finished it, and I did read it in one evening. The author had to have done a lot of research on history, geography, and on Jewish-Muslim relations to come up with a well done novel such as this that takes the reader all over the Middle East. The whole series is an exciting ride from the streets of New York City to the Middle East with all kinds of danger and suspense lurking on each page, and some very likable characters. I learned a lot while being entertained. I enjoyed the whole series a lot and was sad to see that this is most likely the last book in the series, but it was a terrific conclusion to the series. It is definitely worth reading, but should be read in order.

The Aleppo Code, a gripping novel in a series called The Jerusalem Prophecies, is a novel that will leave you on the edge of your seat! Author Terry Brennan has written a series with suspense and mystery!

The series begins with the novel A Sacred Cipher. It sets the stage for the rest of the series. A modern-day Indiana Jones revolving around an ancient scroll found in a hidden room of the library of a friend of Reverend Charles Spurgeon finds several men scratching their heads and forging ahead to find answers to decipher the scroll’s language.

In The Aleppo Code, Tom Bohannon and his compatriots mourn the loss of some of their friends in Israel, but they are determined to keep working toward the goal of “cracking the code”, so to speak. The danger of their task is ever present–the Prophet’s Guard is on the search to find the men and stop their progress. The men are make discoveries along the way that keep their motivation going, but when they stumble on the possibility of finding the ancient Aaron’s rod from Old Testament time, they’re on the fast-track to finding it before their enemy does. Go along on the chase of harrowing danger, intrigue, and plenty of adventure! I highly recommend this series!

This is a novel about the search for a religious artifact and may rival the search for the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail. This the the third of a trilogy by Terry Brennan and although not necessary it might be helpful to read the first two books in the series. This book is the story of a team on a quest for something that they have learned of from the writings and messages left by two earlier explores. At the onset they are not sure what they are searching for, but they have gone through a lot of turmoil and have lost some members of their team and they are not willing to give up the search.

As they are looking for the artifact there are events on the world political stage that might effect them. A Middle Eastern country has set in motion an attempt to grab control of Europe's economy and to become the next world power. The team and others are all in search for what is promised to be a very strong weapon. Who will win the search?

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I will be searching for the first two in the series because the writing is excellent and I enjoy this type of book and story. An excellent read.

The Aleppo Code is very exciting to read ,you just can't put it down. The flow of the story and the added history mixed with the fiction is superb. All of the people in the story have their own struggles with faith, hope and what their purpose in God's plan for them and the world. The ending is a wonderful and I was quite surprised! I chose the high rating because everything blended together so well in Israel then back to the USA, also along with the main story and all the characters involved. I would recommend everyone to read this book, it will not disappointed you!

This book is just as up to date as our newspapers and world events that are happening now. For people who read their bibles it makes us all the more hopeful for our future! And for those who don't read or believe its still a fascinating book to enjoy!

Well researched adventure tale that felt like a Christian Dan Brown/Indiana Jones novel. Even though I understood the novel by itself I do feel like I would have had a richer reading experience from reading all the books in order.

This book was nominated for an ACFW Carol Award and I like to read all those that final in the category I write. Mr. Brennan was definitely deserving of the win in this category.

Congratulations!

After the thrill is gone

Of book two in the series, I found this one dragged a bit, which was the problem I had with the first book. The writer has excellent command of his prose, but some scenes seem like they're stretched out beyond attention spans. The ending left me with many questions, and thus was a bit of a let down.
