Please don't get me wrong... I liked this book, but there were a few parts that just did not work for me. Also, the writing, in my opinion, was a mixed bag. While parts of this book were captivating, there were a few parts that made me wonder where the editor was hiding.
Umm... No! No! No! Did I read this right??...the heroine said she didn't know how she got pregnant because she's thirty-nine!! Women can get pregnant in their fifties. Did not enjoy this book the heroine did some stupid things to be a lawyer.
Being completely honest... I struggled rating this book. One of the reviewers stated that she had mixed feelings and that is exactly how I feel as well. I know I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either.. so I will settle on the fact that I liked the book.
Now being that I paid my sweet $2.99 on this book, I am going to provided you with the reason on why I wasn't completely feeling this one... not hating but not loving.
Now clearly from the blurb it was stated that oz was a Mexican immigrant.. which I was like WHOOT WHOOT first time reading a book with this angle... and then I started reading.... and slowly but surely I realize... this is not at all what I was expecting. So I think what threw me was Oz's back story. I am not sure that is what I thought going into this book..I knew that the characters would struggle but... yeah that was a whole different set of issues that I did not expect at all.
So I would suggest to readers to go in without preconceived notions because if you do I think you will be a little disappointed... not because the book it not good but just because it is not what you were expecting.... well that was for me anyways.
There is a lot more that I want to say, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to read it, and stating anything more about the storyline will give you too much, so I say clear your mind and take a chance and read it... you may like it.
Signing off... this one just didn't float my boat.
This book is totally different than the other books by Ms. Mynx the storyline was so engaging and the lead characters Lyric and Oz were so real you couldn't help but to root for them. As you read the book you can tell that the author enjoyed writing it because it is so well done...As you read the plot gets better and better it becomes a fast pace thrill ride...Well done!
You are pretty much guaranteed a really good read with Sienna Mynx but this one was extra good. The storyline pulled me in right away and the picture drawn about the life of an illegal immigrant was interesting and sad.
Lyric and Oz’s chemistry was off the charts. I also liked that Oz was moral and made a family w Lyric but also w Hector, Javier and Tico. The cartel and immigration angles brought modern-day struggles into the romance. Both Lyric and Oz are heroes and share values including family and doing what’s right.
Wow. I really liked this book. I must have missed this one but I'm glad I have it now. With all her book I do enjoy. Never disappointed. Now I'm just waiting for the "Big One".
It sure was a different read compared to Sienna Mynx's other books I've read. I liked it but .........................
I couldn't help but feel, that apart from Oz's feelings for Lyric and his hero-like behaviour back in his mother country, everything else sort of seemed like a stereotype portrayal of a Mexican person/s and that kind of rubbed me up the wrong way. We are, so much more than what a stereotype labels us.
I really enjoyed this book. Another stellar read from Sienna Mynx.
"Oz" isn't as dark & twisty as some of her other books but I enjoyed the change in pace from that as it's still an engrossing read. Both Oz and Lyric were interesting characters and while there was external angst in the latter half, I very much liked reading how well they complement each other & appreciated each other before the the outside drama struck.
Surprised by this story. Great story and something that I was not expecting. Lyric falls in love with Oz that just happens to come with a lot of drama the least of which is that he's an immigrant. Sienna knows how to tell a story she grabs you and takes you on an emotional journey with her characters. This book has suspense, love, hot sex, loyalty, friendship, drama everything and you're always hoping it will be alright.
Oz is not her typical dark brooding hero. Yes, he has been through and survived some unthinkable tragedies. Yet he still able to loves and has compassion for others. Lyric is a woman who has just about everything going for her. What's missing is a love of her own and her biological is ticking. For once in her life Lyric follows her heart by acting on her instant connection with Oz. but Oz has secrets and a past that they have to mingle through to get their happiness.
Diablo was just pure evil it didn't make any sense. Lyric proved her love for Oz. Love found her when she gave up on it. Mya and Janice were a little over the top but it came from a good place. This was a good read and as usual Sienna didn't disappoint.
Enjoyed the story. The synopsis grabbed my interest right away. Their passion is hot! Their adventures page turning. Good supporting cast, I feel a few possibilities for my imagination to run wild...I want more!
I am a dedicated Sienna Mynx fan. While this was nowhere near in the league of the Battaglias (they were AWESOME, waiting on the next book!), it was an ok read. It gets four stars just because she wrote it.
This is a love story!!! I love Oz and Lyric as a couple. I can definitely see a part two to this story. This was that good!!! I will be recommending this book to my book club. Awesome read!!!
I gave this book 5 🌟 because of the creative nature of the book and the romantic and cultural aspects of the story. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting to know the characters and how they think. Definitely a good read!
I loved Oz and Lyric's story, It had a great relatable back story that I found interesting. I also loved the differences between the characters, white collar/ black collar, older woman/ younger man.
Oz & Lyric are a force to be reckoned with professionally and personally. Oz is a man of strong morales and values. Lyric is a kind soul searching for her missing link. Who knew a downed tree would bring them together? Sienna is an author that can bring passionate plots together that will make you feel every emotion leaping from the pages. They are every day struggles that are turned into triumphs. They both make sacrifices trying to save the other but in the end realize that the rightful place is with each other.
