What You Need to Know About Pernicious Anaemia and Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Rate this book
Based on responses to his earlier books - Pernicious Anaemia: the forgotten disease, and Living with Pernicious Anaemia - and on the daily enquiries and cries for help that come to the Pernicious Anaemia Society, Society-founder Martyn Hooper brings together the essential knowledge that sufferers and their families and friends need to understand, and withstand, vitamin B12 deficiency and pernicious anaemia. Martyn discusses the many uncertainties and difficulties associated with the condition, what these may mean for sufferers, the huge variations in individual experience, and how to live as fully as possible despite having the condition. Ending on a positive note, he looks to future developments and the changes they may bring.

Illuminating

A very good summary of the causes and treatment of PA, by a non medical patient advocate who has done much to spread the word about patient experiences through the Pernicious Anaemia Society, and has provided a bridge to the medical profession. I’d very much appreciate knowing how things have moved on since this book was published in 2015, and what has happened with some of the promising research he outlines at the end. I have joined the PAS and with this disease in our family I am very grateful for the work they do.

Good Layman's Info

My mother and her mother have this problem. I am having symptoms and wanted more info. Martyn explains this subject in an easy to understand way even though there are some scientific jargon to deal with. It is laid out well and there is much take in. Take your time and re read what you need to. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more.
