Good & Dead: Book 1

Rate this book
Michael's life as a college student is pretty normal, for a nerd. Overdue papers, ramen noodles, a hopeless crush, and an epic Dungeons and Dragons game on the weekends. But that life ends when he wakes up with no memory of the night before. The leader of New York’s vampire clan has taken a special interest in him, as have the passionately violent nymphs who seem determined to tear him to pieces. Now it's all impossible decisions, police investigations, dangerous secrets, and more blood and vomit than seems reasonable. Life just got a whole lot messier, and Michael just wants his character sheet back. About the Author Jamie Wahl lives in Alabama with her husband and four kids where she works as a muralist. She wrote most of this book sitting in the lobby of the YMCA, with her kids in childwatch next door. She wore sweat pants so that when the trainers walked by she could pretend she was stretching. Other than that, she’s totally professional.

I think this was more of a "it was me, not you" thing. Most readers seem to love this book. I agree, it was a different from the norm vampire story and it was very enjoyable, but it just didn't seem to keep my attention and I really struggled through it but I really wanted to see where it would go only to be left with a cliffhanger.

A great first book! Five stars all the way! The author did a fantastic job of mixing horror, humor, mystery and sensitivity within the storyline. I really felt bad for Michael and his victims during his initial feeding. You could feel Michael's dread knowing what he had to do to survive as a vampire. I'm definitely looking forward to book 2.

A must for any vampire enthusiast, and a great read even for those who aren't. The book is fast paced, and easy to read. There's humor, fighting, mystery, suspense and more. I wasn't ready for it to end. Can't wait for Book 2!

I'm not typically a vampire fan but this book was great. First book in a long time that had me laughing and gasping out loud as I read. I loved it!

What can be said about Michael Wallace? In a nutshell, he’s a very tall, gangly, not-to coordinated college kid that spends his spare time playing Dungeons and Dragons and mooning over Charlotte, the student director of Nevermore, a play he is taking part in just to be near and whom he’s to scared to even talk to. Michael isn’t bold or brave. He would never pick a fight or voluntarily take part in anything dangerous... that is until he ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses a murder.

I loved this book. I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like it. It was light and funny and made for a good break from the normally heavy, dark plotted monster books I read. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

I've never really been a fan of the vampire genre, but I admit I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Mainly, the main character was very relatable. I mean, if I were suddenly turned into a vampire, I don't doubt my reaction would be very similar to Michael's. Story felt a little slow at first, but really sucks you in midway and I couldn't put it down. It was a "I'm going to stay up till the wee hours to finish this" kind of read. I can only give four stars though because the ending did not provide much closure at all. It left more questions asked than answered and now I must wait for the next one. Over all, an engaging and thoroughly amusing story.

I really enjoyed reading Good & Dead: Book 1. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves the fun world of vampires and other things that go bump in the night. Jamie does and amazing job of creating a fun world and characters you care about. It's been a while since I got lost in a good book and Good & Dead did just that. I can't WAIT for book 2! Great job Jamie!

I bought this book three years ago, apologies for taking so long to read it but my TBR list is huge. Still, book two doesn't seem to exist and I'm stuck on a cliffhanger. Anyhow, Good & Dead was okay, nothing new.

Funny Geeky Vampire story (yes you read that correctly)

Very fun & funny story of a geeky college student who runs across the wrong group of vampires, and how he, er, deals with everything attached. Love the character-driven storytelling, the hilariously dark humor, the endless mysteries piling up, and the infuriating ending that made me want to send hate mail asking for book 2 already.

I am used to reading darker books than this, especially about vampires and when my friend told me to check it out, I did it just bc she wanted me to and within 30 minutes I was so intrigued I could not put it down. I love the lightness and humor. I love how it isn't like EVERYTHING ELSE I have read. I love it and can't wait for it to come out on paper! I will be the first to buy!
