This is book 6 in the Sweet Cove Mystery series. Although the main mystery is solved in each story, the books should be read in order to enhance your enjoyment as some story threads run from book to book.
Chief Martin asks the Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch to look into odd happenings on his aunt’s property on the outskirts of Sweet Cove. While visiting Aunt Anna, they make a discovery that draws the group, including two fine felines, into what seems like a missing person’s case (or is it?). A cozy mystery with recipes ! This story has some mild paranormal elements.

3.25 stars Home Sweet Home is the 6th book in the Sweet Cove Mystery series by J.A. Whiting. This is a magical mystery series surrounding a family of four girls, two cats, and an elderly neighbor who help solve crimes on the side, utilizing hard work and special powers. They are a sweet, close-knit group of women and the mysteries are always unique and varied.
This particular crime occurs when a boat is run aground in a private cove at Police Chief Martin’s aunt’s house in nearby Silver Cove. The woman inside is woozy and confused and seems to be unaware of her husband’s disappearance from their boat. Shortly thereafter, a man turns up dead. Are the two mysteries related? And what about the mysterious mishaps occurring around the Chief’s aunt’s house? So many questions…and a family on the hunt for answers.
Although this particular crime wasn’t as interesting to me as previous ones, it’s a short, quick story and I love the characters and their interactions with one another. I look forward to the next from this sweet series.
This is the 6th in the Sweet Cove series and probably the last one I'll read. While the plots are really good, it's just become too cutesy for me. Everything is all kissing their sweeties and omg omg omg my family is teh awesome and trilling cats and thrumming blood and jesus, it's just so sweet that it makes my teeth hurt..
So, overall, just as with the other books in the series, the plot was really, really good but the filler is enough to give you cavities.
While celebrating Mr. Finch's new home, a new mystery came floating up...a boat with a woman and her toddler, and the woman seemed to have no idea where her husband was. Retracing a murder that probably happened at sea, Angie, the chief and the sisters had their job cut out for them. I honestly didn't trust the woman in the boat from the get-go, so it was interesting to see how it all turned out. As always, the two fine felines gave their assistance. I'll be reading the next one soon!
I keep having lots of fun with this series. In this book, we have an interesting premise with the lost husband and a wife who seems to not care much. It took me a long time to understand what was going on and how everyone was connected, but I was so satisfied at the end. The Roseland sisters are great to read, maybe Ellie is my least favourite, she is very worried and scared at all times, but I like how she is trying to improve her courage, and there are definitely prediction powers arising in her that I’m intrigued to see develop.
The girls go to talk to Chief aunt about strange noises and lights around her home. While there the gardener spots a boat beached below the house. They find a young mother and her child aboard, and her husband is missing. With nowhere to go, she is allowed to stay in one of the carriage houses temporarily.
As the Roseland sisters investigate, they wonder if they have invited a murderess into their home.
This tale begins book 6 in this most excellent cozy series, with our beloved Mr. Finch moving into his renovated Colonial house behind the Victorian that the Roseland sisters live in. Angie surprises him and all his loved ones with an exact replica of the house in cake! Even the Police Chief (Phillip) and his wife, Lucille is present for this occasion. When everyone decides to go to see the new house, Phillip is urged by Lucille to ask a favor of Angie.
His Aunt Anna, living in Silver Cove, is experiencing phenomena. Now the gentle Lady is 81 and perhaps it is aged induced, but...? So, as to be expected the sisters agree. What everyone, and myself included didn't expect was a boat run aground on Auntie's property...and that barn...why does Angie get weird feelings around it? The other Sisters start getting unusual vibes when a woman and her child are rescued and she asks...."Where is Tony?" Well, where is he? And off we go finding bodies, missing persons, drugs, and more.
The ending was surprising but oh so fulfilling. Especially as the new Sweet Bake Shop is opened!
They operate several successful businesses but they should also open the Roseland & Finch Detective Agency since Euclid and Circe the cats, definitely, can't open one, but they are truly members of the agency. Anyone who has read my reviews, knows that I adore Mr. Finch and the talented Roseland Sisters. You can read each book individually but it helps to read in succession. In this mini-tome, the chief of police ask the sisters to meet with his aunt to solve a minor mystery on her property which leads to a major mystery. Along the way, we encounter romance, intrigue and sadness. Enjoy the read.
A grounded boat, two missing men, a dazed and confused wife and her young son are characters in this book.
“The Sisters” are part of the welcoming committee upon the discovery of the grounded boat. As usual, they are asked by the Chief to assist in determining what has really happened.
Nothing very scary about this book as there can be other of the author’s books. Mr. Finch still being watched carefully after sustaining a head wound in the last book. A further development in the romance area occurs as one of the nice events the sisters experience.
Wonder what is waiting in the next book to tease our senses?
I love the characters in this series. Twin sisters Angie & Jenna along with their sisters Courtney and Ellie are the main characters, but each book has added additional prominent characters based on the plots, in the form of their close family friend Mr. Finch, the Police Chief, boyfriends and a fiancee. Of course you can't forget their beloved felines Euclid and Circe who add their two cents worth of input to each of these delightful mysteries. Developing psychic abilities in each of the sisters lend new possibilities to every twist of the plot and keep you guessing throughout! These good clean, entertaining cozy mysteries are highly recommended.
This story had the Roseland sisters, Angie, Jennie, Ellie, and Courtney involved in a murder, a body overboard and two siblings trying to get away from an abusive husband!
The girls had a hard time with this one. They could not get their paranormal feelings working together.
They had to work hard to get to the bottom of this mystery. But as usual the girls took hold of their feelings and helped Chief Martin get to the bottom of the ugly crime.
I am on my way to number 7 to see what trouble they can find in the next mystery book!
These books get better and better! This was a different mystery that may have been a murder or may not have been a murder. All 4 sisters were involved in using their senses to help determine what might have happened. And Mr. Finch and the cats were involved too!
Amazon synopsis: Chief Martin asks the Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch to look into odd happenings on his aunt’s property on the outskirts of Sweet Cove. While visiting Aunt Anna, they make a discovery that draws the group, including two fine felines, into what seems like a missing person’s case (or is it?).
Perfect example of a cozy mystery with a solution i never saw coming. The sweet camaraderie the sisters and other important characters share make for a warm and gentle reading experience as our minds try eagerly to solve the puzzle and to discover how the characters’ intuitive abilities will help in discerning the truth. This book is the first of the series I’ve read. Now i cannot wait to start at the beginning!
A very good series! I love J A Whiting’s books! This series is a lovely cozy mystery with 4 sisters who live together in a huge Victorian mansion, solve mysteries, discover their new “gifts” of paranormal talents, have 2 cats (who understand humans), and includes RECIPES! No cliffhanger endings, some romance (no sex), and while they can be stand alone….read them in order so you don’t miss the developing backstories. So curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and enjoy.
Another great job by this author. Very impressed with the Roseland sisters and their growing abilities. Wishing I had cats like Euclid and Circe. Enjoying this series very much. Can’t wait to read when Ellie embraces her heritage. Looking forward to Josh learning the truth about the sisters.
I love the family and their relationships with others,. This book had more than one mystery and it kept me interested. I do wonder why in each story there is always a vegetarian selection of food yet no mention of any e being vegetarian. Curious. Kept my attention to the end. A quick and enjoyable book to read.
Book Six in this series finds Angie andJenna moving forward on their lives, and this mystery is merely a slight distraction. It's lightweight and overly convoluted. The main characters are still so cute, and this is a treacle-sweet series, suitable for most readers of clean cozy mysteries.
Chief Martin wants the girls to go with him to see his aunt, some strange things are happening around her house. They find a boat stranded below the cliff. They take Deirdre and her son home to carriage house. A body washes ashore but it's not Tony. The girls have a new mystery where is Tony and what do they do with Deirdre and her son.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to have no sympathy for the victims and lots for some of the people who caused the problems. Guess everyone has a story, good or bad.
The first six books of the Sweet Cove Mystery Books Series have all been fast-paced and quite entertaining. The characters are likeable and you look forward to just what is going to happen next. I am anxious to read the next book in the series.
Another cozy mystery solved by the sisters and Mr. Finch.
It’s interesting to become friends with each of these people. Every time that we’ve learned more and more about each of them and become friends with all of them. Looking forward to the next book
What do a sweet elderly lady, a boat and a baby have in common? I think you should read this delightful series where each story adds a different mystery to the continuing family drama. The lady, boat and baby all were more than meets the eye!
I enjoyed seeing Angie and her extended family with the felines,Euclid and Circe, solve another mystery. This book is recommended for cozy mystery fans.
