Josephina Steel has been alone for years. Her husband and father of her children, Jase, Cyrus, Zandor, and Xavier, died in a horrible accident when the family was already going through rough times. Through hard work, love and loyalty in abundance, her sons are the men she and Jonathan, always knew they could be. Does true love only come once in a lifetime…or can we rise up and love again?
MJ Fields is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance novels. She lives in New York with her daughter Miss A, smoochie faced Newfie, Theo and the newest member to the 'fields crew, rescue diva / holy terror Eleanor. When she’s not locked away in the cave, she enjoys doing home improvement projects, spending time with her family, attending live music and sporting events, the theatre, singing off key, dancing to her own beat, listening to audio books, and reading of course.
Raising Steel was a novella within the Men of Steel series by MJ Fields. It brought the series full circle through the perspective of the matriarch, Mamma Joe. Although it was set in the present and the storyline began immediately after the previous book, Family, we were gifted with a quick memory of how it all started. Fields touched on the delicate subject in loving again in a unique way and of course included the wonderful antics of the Steel boys. Forever Steel.
After getting through all of the men of steel books - this novella was my absolute favorite!!!!!! Such a complete 180 to go from stories and banter from the boys.........to the relationship, banter and feelings of their Mom, Josephine Steel - I LOVED this! Her story was great and so much more on my level right now!!! Someday I will pick up where this series leaves off in the Ties of Steel series.
The last of the series and we get Momma Joe’s story.
What a ride this series of books is.
The world of the Steel family, full of hot men ready to do whatever they have to for the women they finally fall for. Each with a very unique character, but all with the same family motto “Steel Forever”.
Jase, Cyrus, Zander and Xavier, brothers who will fight to the death for their family.
Each individual book was fantastic, fully of steamy erotic hotness. Building with each one a strong unbreakable family.
You meet characters that will be part of other series of books. So looking forward to reading those.
I have read all of MJ books and I find that her ability to tell a story that makes you care about a character even a flawed one is a gift. Momma Joes story is beautiful and real. As women age they have those conversations in their head, about how a partner sees them. I am glad that a book can still make me smile even when I'm done. This is that kid of book. I recommend you read all the series so you can enjoy all the dynamics in the story, it's not necessary but it will be fun.
Cute addition to the Steel stories. It was slightly awkward for me to read about Momma Joe since that's the only capacity I've seen her in for the years I've been reading this series. Congrats to the author for pulling me in to this story and rooting for this couple who turned out to be pretty sexy in their short story.
This is Momma Joe's story and its so good. Its a great addition to the Men of Steel series. Fields brings the entire gang back together for a heart loving laughter Romance. Joe takes the Momma role serious...she is and will always be the steel that holds Forever Steel together!! Happy Reading!!!
This book is the journey of Jo and Thomas finally moving on from the loves of their lives that they have lost many years ago. I must confess that I skimmed through this. It was okay but it wasn't as captivating as the books of Jo's son's. Still a nice short story of how they find each other.
I read this as part of the Men of Steel Boxset. I loved seeing Mama Joe find a second chance at love and seeing the family again. This series has grown a lot and I found myself loving the men even more (especially Jace whom I hadn't loved as much as I wanted to love).
First I need to thank this author for uploading the book to Barnes and Noble after I contacted her. Thank you
OMG I find my thoughts a bit jumbled after this short read but I'm so glad Joe and Thomas got a happy ending. I admit I didn't expect these 2 to be together but I'm so glad they did.
This novella is part of the Men of Steel series and if you haven't read it I highly recommend it. Momma Joe (Josephina Steel) met Jonathan Steel when he was on military leave in Italy, where she lived. She was young and untouched and they spend a beautiful night together. He tells her he wants to marry her and bring her back to America with him. The next day the two lovers go to her family's vineyard to tell them the news and they are angry and disown her. Joe lost her loving husband and the Father of her four sons during Hurricane Sandy when he rescued their son, Cyrus. Thomas works at Steel Inc, he's a Doctor and he works in their research lab. He loved Carly's Mother and was devastated when she died. It's been a couple of years for both of them and their family is pressuring them to move on. (Well not so much the boys). Thomas is younger than Joe but has been secretly fantasizing about her for sometime now. The two of them leave work early and go to a bar to get drunk where they decide to be friends with benefits. I loved this short story it was really sweet and I loved seeing Momma Joe get her groove back.
Raising Steel: Momma Joe is the backbone of the Steel family, not necessarily by choice but by hardship, devastation and loss. Her strength and love have always been apparent throughout the Men of Steel books but in Raising Steel she finally let's herself live for her rather than just her family. As a reader, wife and mother, I could relate with her internal struggles with family, obligations, wants and needs! Momma Joe brings life, love and heat in the sheets like no one other than the matriarch of the Steel family can do! You will laugh at the antics of the Steel Men. Their reactions to their mother's choices not only show their individual personalities but will make you fall in love all over again with the entire Steel family! MJ Fields has given us yet another great glimpse into life as only the Steel family can live and love
Josephina Steel is the backbone of the Steel family. She has four sons that are all alpha males but all respect Momma Joe. She loved her husband and has convinced herself that the kind of love they shared only comes around once in a lifetime. Now her children are convinced she needs to move on with her life and not feel so obligated to only doing things for her children and grandchildren.
Thomas loved Carly's mom and has mourned her loss. Since moving to be near Carly, he has become a familiar face at Steel family meals and events. He has watched Josephina Steel with more than a little interest for quite some time.
Will Momma Joe be willing to take a second chance on love? Can she really move on with her life?
This book was a great! I loved it! Great job by M.J. Fields!
I love Raising Steel! Having seen Momma Joe in all the Men of Steel books and to get the chance to hear her story and see how she became the strong woman that raised the 4 Steel boys into the awesome men they were was just great.
Momma Joe met the love of her life in Jonathan Steel and gave up her life of wealth and privilege in Italy to move to the states with him. They forged a lie together and brought 4 boys into the world only to have Jonathan ripped from her life. Momma Joe stayed true to her one true love until after her boys were settled. But one day she is confronted by Thomas and things get heated. Momma Joe lets her kinky side show. Thomas wants the HEA after with Joe but can she give her heart to another? Will her boys accept her with another man? Will age be a factor?
I love this series. I'm not sure it will continue. I see possibilities of bringing everybody we of meet in previous books. I know we have Rockers of Steel Series which I will start soon. There could always be The Next Generation of Steel. This book was a good finish to the series if M.J. Fields is planing this, it wrapped everything up. If you have read The Men of Steel then I recommend it. It was fun seeing Momma Joe moving on from Jonathon. M.J. Fields has away of writing that leaves you wanting more. She brings everything to a close, but leaves the possibility of more to come. In my opinion Raising Steel is worth reading.
