Ann lives in the mountains of East Tennessee with her husband and two very spoiled house cats. She is currently at work on a four book series.
Her first paranormal romance series is The Blood Magic Series. She is a night owl and enjoys writing into the wee hours of the morning. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and has also worked as a nurse in home health care, but writing has always been her passion.
She is an avid reader and often can't stop reading other people's stories long enough to write her own. She loves all things paranormal: vampires, witches, werewolves, faeries, etc. She also has an obsession with reality TV and any show that features mythical creatures.
Her wild, wacky, and sometimes childlike sense of humor comes through in her writing as does her love of the supernatural. She is hard at work on the next book in the series, but she fights a never ending battle with procrastination.
She hopes you enjoy this series from beginning to end and invites you to connect with her via email, through Facebook, and also Twitter. Happy reading!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was pacy and exciting, with plenty of twists both romantic and supernatural that kept me turning the pages. Allie's voice was fresh and believable, and I enjoyed the relationships she had with her friends as well as the main romance. And I loved the story-within-a-story of Allie's mysterious flashbacks, those were some of my favourite parts.

There were a few typos and punctuation issues that took me out of the story a little, but overall it didn't spoil my enjoyment.

Blood Magic is a first person, high school, vampire romance. The jumps back in time could perhaps use a bit more research but they don't suffer much from it and are still fun to read. If you like teen/vampire romances but cringe at Twilight, this is a good choice as it not only contains real plot but there's quite a bit less creepiness from the vampires in Blood Magic. I enjoyed the drama between Allison and her vampire with a heart of gold.

I was pleasantly surprised and even enamored with this author's take on the vampire romance genre. The writing was engaging with great structure throughout and fantastically vivid and believable settings across the entire span of eras covered by the book. Despite what another reviewer felt, I never perceived a lack of sufficient character development. The plot is intriguing and builds steadily to a very powerful climax and satisfying conclusion. One unfortunate aspect of this book is that it shares a title that appears to be common to several others in the same genre, but that I feel have much less mature writing and don't necessarily display nearly as much effort as clearly went into this work. I hope readers who learn of Ms Atkins's novel end up with the right book.

I really enjoyed the suspense.

This was not your typical vampire story. I loved the mystery and enjoyed the romance. And it was clean! Great work!!!

Typically, I don't read YA paranormal books, but I'm glad I made an exception with Blood Magic.

Firstly, the book managed to be unique in a genre known for conformity, and it really worked. Ms. Atkins smartly introduces aspects of the supernatural plot-line. The treatment was new and fresh, and that kept me turning the pages, particularly the Witch trial and the Hitler villain was very interesting.

Secondly, the utterly charming heroine, Allie grows on you. She is not the typical teen girl, but has some behavioral characteristics that make her very believable – from hating mornings to her challenging relationship with a self-centered parent. Allie's banter with the other principal characters was engaging, with a touch of humor throughout. It was interesting to tune into Allie's internal monologue and how she constantly discusses her feelings.

And finally, the author has a wonderful writing style, and she immerses the readers into an believably unbelievable world that she creates. She ably blends time periods, mystery, romance and the supernatural into a fast paced read filled with surprises. The bad guys though were evil incarnate and would have been more interesting if they cared about something.

Overall, Blood Magic was a fun read with an interesting story line, charming characters and a believably unbelievable world created by the author.

** I received a free copy of this work in exchange for an honest review**

This was a book that surprised me, as far as the time and detail that went into developing the characters and background in order to tie everything up in the end. It was an enjoyable read, and I was glad to find that the characters differed in personality and development, so that it did not feel as if they were pulled out of a hat and slapped onto pages in order to add fluff to the plot.

I will say that there is a need for an editor for this work. It was a bit long, and there were opportunities where things could have been cut out to keep the pace quick and the book engrossing.

However, Atkins' language and the way she was able to convey emotions and scenery made up for the length. All in all, it was a pleasant read, and I would recommend it to any fantasy buff who is interested in something different to whet their appetites.

Allison Chamberlain is girl that lost her mother at childbirth and a father that pays everything for her so that he doesn't have to pay attention to her. Each time she closes her eyes she is plagued by dreams of 17th century Salem. The dreams are so real and so disturbing, they must mean something. When she almost kills herself by accident in an icy lake she meets Mason, a supernatural boy, who pulls her into a supernatural world full of fey, vampires and even unicorns.
Ann's writing is really something else. Sometimes so visceral that I winced myself when characters get hurt or are tortured. As an amateur linguist I especially appreciate the attention that went into the language of the 17th century parts. They really feel authentic. This kind of writing makes you wonder why crap like Twilight ever got the attention it did. PEOPLE, JUST BUY THIS!

I'm sorry I just couldn't. I always feel awful when I rate something this low, but the overwhelming amount of grammatical errors completely ruined the book for me and blinded me to any potential it might have. This will sound harsh, but it's that kind of sloppiness that gives self-publishing a bad reputation. I'm all for supporting self publishers who take the time to make their work up to the caliber of edited work. I'm not saying the authoress should refrain from writing; I'm saying that if she continues, proofreaders would be a wise investment.

I want more! When I first started this book, it reminded me of many others I've read. When I was a teenager, this was my genre obsession. Of course, that was when Twilight first released, so I think it was every teenage girls obsession. But anyways, this was definitely like none of the books I've read. Sure, there's magical creatures that I've read about before and vampires who aren't completely evil and fall in love. But what makes this so different is that there are massive and drastic twists and turns that even I couldn't guess. I'm giving this a thumbs-up and I cannot wait for another one. I haven't read these types of books in a few years, but I must say, I've missed it! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a little change in genre. Instead of reading romances, read a love story that isn't like everything else! Absolutely fantastic!

When Allie Chamberlain first meets Mason Adams, their chemistry is undeniable. What I love about this story is that the chemistry is explained through dreams that Allie is having about a mysterious couple during the Salem witch trials. The couple’s timeless love and the effect it has on Allie and Mason in the present, weaves an interesting tale of magic, romance and second chances.

I really enjoyed the addition of the mystical creatures and elements that I had never heard of before, it definitely added something extra to the story. The emotional impact of the plot came through very well, with Allie’s attraction to Mason, the conflict she has with her father, and even the love she has for her friends. I am excited to see more from this author in the future.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The plot was well developed and the characters were relatable and believable. The author created a captivating world that really pulls you in and transports you to another place and time.
Allie is a young girl who begins having dreams about a boy who lived hundreds of years ago. This story switches back and forth from the Salem Witch Trials to present day. The past merges with the present beautifully when he walks out of her dreams and into her life.
Once he appears, Allie learns about a world she never knew existed and faces a plethora of supernatural creatures. A sweet romance develops between them as Allie struggles to understand what her dreams are telling her.
I highly recommend losing yourself in this fantastical world!

I have really enjoyed this book. I am fond of vampire books, especially the Vampire Academy series, and the Alchemist series. This one is a YA, supernatural, romantic novel. Allie and all the other characters are very likable and moreover, the story telling is marvelous, engaging and very vivid, making my reading experience rich. There were times when the story had lost my interest, so I had to put it down, maybe it was because of the pacing...I find it a wee bit fast paced. But, I have always picked it up, I am just too curious to put it down for long.

I highly recommend this book for readers who like romantic and action packed novels with a vampire protagonist. I swear, this book is so good, it's worth the price. Ms. Ann Atkins is a very talented author.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The plot was filled with many twist and turns that I didn't see coming. I was constantly guessing what would happen next. One of my favorite things about this story is the heroine's character development. Readers get to see her progress magically and emotionally. Many authors have a problem pulling this off but Atkins did a great job. I was always cheering for Allison and not once did she cause me to become aggravated. Mason on the other had caused me to shake my head at times because it was clear he was holding something back. Even the background characters made me fall in love. My favorite background character is Matt because his personality plays off of Allison's so well.
If you like paranormal books pick this one up.

YA paranormal tends to be a lot of the same thing over and over again: angst-ridden heroines in love with a Vampire/Werewolf/Fae/ insert monster of the week here. Blood Magic managed to be unique in a genre known for conformity, and it really worked. I really enjoyed the Witch trial and the Hitler villain, it was new and fresh, and that kept me turning the pages.
The only real negative I saw was that there were a couple of places that could be trimmed down a little to increase the pace of the book, but it’s a minor technical issue in a creative success. I’m looking forward to diving into the next one.

Fun, teen paranormal read with a bit more depth than a lot of what’s out there. Well-paced plot and great world building. The heroine, Allie, is strong-willed with a solid voice, surrounded by a cast of intriguing characters. Atkins plays with many of the old tropes, breathing life into some overdone themes. (Vampires are never REALLY going go out of style after all, right?!) Some fantastic twists and intriguing villains, mixed in with a solid shot of romance.

I do think it’s a little long with some unnecessary prose and backstory padding the pages. But overall, I enjoyed the read and I’m eager to know what happens next. I’ll definitely be picking up book 2!

I am always intrigued by supernatural books, and when there is a mix of romance in it, well supported with good writing and likable characters, that's the recipe of a good book that would get me hooked. This was one of those books. Allie's meeting with a boy from several years back in past, and the imaginary of her thoughts kept me excited at all times. The book was overall very enjoyable that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a fresh paranormal romance.

An okay read.

This novel had too many parts that were unnecessary. As Allie learned about her powers, it was a huge conversational info dump. Allie thought about everything to death. The story was intriguing, in that, she was a mix of powers from different beings, but at some point I just rolled my eyes because it Allie could do everything. There was no limit to her power. Sigh.

I'm a 'sucker' for angst ridden romance and this book delivered. The opening scene was like a scene in a movie you can't take your eyes from. I aplaud the author's twists and turns because many writers just don't know how to make vampire YA fresh again. I'm looking forward to book 2!
