Jade Greene is at that point when everything in life seems like a joke, on her. Passed by for a raise at work, behind on her bills, stained her pants, and now her new car is turning out to be a lemon. At the end of the worst of bad days, Jade meets a handsome stranger, and she's feeling crazy enough to ride with him into the sunset. When one enchanted evening opens the door to a whole new world, Jade discovers true danger that none of her mundane problems could have prepared her for. With monsters all around, will she transform herself to gain some control over her life?
The Beast is my favorite book by Shantea Gauthier so far. A refreshing Urban Fiction with a complex heroine who learns that there is more than one way to become a monster. Great pacing, organic world building, consistent plot twists, and steamy romance. Gauthier kept me guessing until the very end. 5 Beefcakes out of 5.
