**IMPACT is a novella that must be read after CAUGHT. It is Greg's story and it leads into the next book in the HEART ON series** I wasn't always a stud. I know. I know. Shocker! But contrary to popular belief, I wasn't born this sexy. The transformation wasn't easy, but it was worth it. My life became so awesome that I should've seen it coming. A guy can't be that lucky--all the time. The truth is, life has a way of knocking you on your ass. Especially when you believe you're invincible. If only I had seen the point of IMPACT sooner.
Erika Ashby grew up an Army Brat, spending most of her childhood in Oklahoma, where she finally put roots down. She currently lives in Edmond, OK where she faithfully attends North Church with her kids. She's a blessed mom of 4 who loves Jesus and serving others. Her hobbies include attending dirt track races, concerts, reading, DIY, and making red dirt shirts. It wasn’t until the ripe age of 27 when she realized she had a hidden passion for reading. Up until that point in her life, she claimed to have hated it. Shortly after, she was hit with another revelation: the desire to tell stories. Knowing she had failed all writing assignments in school, she set out on this journey mainly to prove to herself she could do it. So, here she is today, proving it. Erika wants to encourage anyone with a dream to go for it.
Did you love Caught as much as I did? Have you been wanting to know about Greg after getting to know and love him in that story? Well here is your chance! Impact is Greg’s story and must be read after Caught (as it will definitely be a spoiler for you if you read it the other way around).
I adored Greg’s character and even though things don’t end quite well for him, I wanted to know to know more about the hilarious best friend with those amazing chesticles! In Impact we get to meet Greg as he’s entering junior high, and is a chubby boy who’s picked on a lot. With the help of Nikki he gets his butt in gear and starts to make something of himself. Seeing the transformation from the young, not sure about himself Greg, to the Greg in high school and college was amazing. He didn’t back down and went for what he wanted.
Nikki, Greg’s best friend (with benefits), is not so amazing though. No matter what Greg does, she never lets them move forward with what they have, even though Greg truly wants her to be his. I really was not a fan of Nikki’s through this entire book. The way she was with Chase, Quinn, Finley and Greg was horrible and you could see she was jealous, but still refused to let Greg in the entire way.
Even though this is Greg’s story, Nikki plays a HUGE role in everything that happens in his life. I wanted her to be a better friend and person, and was hoping she would give him what he’s wanted for so long, but instead… well you’ll just need to read this book to find out exactly why I despise her character so much.
Impact is full of laughs, great friendship, some sexy times, and Greg’s sexy chesticles! I highly suggest one-clicking this one if you’ve read Caught. It is an amazing story about a character we all loved.
I love Caught and I really really like Greg to the point I wished that Erika and A.E would write a book about him. And then bam.... wish come true!
I fall in love with Greg, all over again. Like who doesn't? He's not perfect but just so.. Let me quote this "He's the only person who has ever cared enough to dig deeper." Not only with Nikki but with every person he cares the most! He acts like a 'manwhore' who always fantasized about getting laid, but no he is way more better than that. I have never imagined that he only love one person in his entire life. "Life is too short." I guess he never regret waiting for Nikki.. Hoo if only he didn't died! I bet he would be that best dad! But that's life, expect the unexpected.
I never expect that Greg's story will makes me cry, yes I did cried! I just, you know feel it deeply, every words, every sentences got stuck in my mind. Can I have someone like Quinn and Greg with my life?
I loved CAUGHT, so when I saw that these fine ladies were publishing Greg's story, I jumped for joy. Greg was a great supporting character in Caught. He was best friend with Chase and a good friend to Quinn.
When I started to read Impact, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Once I started reading, I couldn't read the pages fast enough. I loved how I got the back story to Greg. I would have never guessed what storyline these ladies would create for him.
In Caught we got to see the happy, go lucky Greg. Greg appeared to be a ladies man. Was he all talk? Was he the manwhore that everyone thought he was? While reading Impact, we come to see that he is pining over the one girl that he could never have? Would the girl he loved, love him in return? Could the two of them have a future?
"Everyone thought I was this manwhore, yet I only want to be one woman's whore. And she didn't want me. I guess I wasn't what she wanted. I know keeping friendships intact was priceless, but I could love XXXX so hard if she have me the chance. (I had to black out the name. I don't want to give anything away) ~Greg
With that being said, I was shocked. I can't give it away to you. This is a novella, so my review has to be short and sweet. I refuse to spoil anything for the readers. Just trust me on this. I hope that I have never steered you wrong in the past and you will trust my recommendation.
You NEED to read this. Let me rephrase that. You MUST read this. Impact will hit you square in the chest. You will see the struggles that Greg endured every day. You will see how Greg overcame those struggles. Sometimes we all put on the happy face, and we really don't know what that person is truly dealing with. Greg always managed to be the funny go luck guy. In Impact, we got to not only see what made Greg into the person he is, but how he felt as well. I felt the pain that he did. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and tell him that everything would be okay.
Then Erika and Ashley threw a wrench in the book. Something that I never saw coming. Something that will wreck you, something that will make your jaw drop. You will have your Oh My God moment.
So with that being said, get one clicking ladies!!!!!
Greg was in some ways a relatively minor character in Caught, the first book in the Heart On Series by Erika Ashby and A.E. Woodward, but his character played a pivotal part at several crucial points. Most of the time he played the part of the lovable joker/manwhore but every now and then, in the quiet moments, he'd surprise his fellow characters (and the readers) be being thoughtful, insightful, loyal, kind, and just all 'round lovable.
In Impact, we go back to middle school and follow Greg's journey all the way through high school and into college, to see how he wound up as that endearing character that fans of the first book already love. From the bully that torments him in the opening pages, the friends that impact his life and its direction and the struggles he faces.
This novella, told entirely first person from Greg's POV (well, mostly) strings together a series of vignettes spanning about 6 crucial years of Greg's life as he develops from the boy he was into the man we know.
Some will no doubt hate the way some things are left up in the air at the conclusion of the book, not so much a cliffhanger, as a set up for another future story, but things are definitely left hanging out there. Others will just love the chance to get to know Greg (and Nikki) better and spend more time with them. Perhaps some will be both, lovers and haters (or Laters as they're called in the acknowledgements)
Yep, I did read Caught. You really need to have done that first before reading this one. Totally forgot what happened until like 50% through but by then the authors had totally invested me in their unique story telling.
Still loved all the awesome Quinnisms and the new Gregisms (not to be mistaken by Gregasms). These are pulled off so well by the authors.
So, even though I loved the writing in this book as much as the first one, the characters were as amazingly awesome as I remembered - I have a personal preference for how I need a story to end and it is because of that personal preference I rated it the way I did. Many won't have the same hangup so will LOVE this book!
Amazing writing duo that I can't wait to read more of.
I LOVED Caught. It's actually one of my favorite books. I am so excited that other books are coming out based on that book. This book was Greg's story. I thought I was prepared for this book, because if you've read Caught... well... then you know how this will end. But in the true style of the authors, they add another twist that will shock you. I didn't know it was possible to have a book hangover over a story that you already knew the ending for, but let me tell you that it is possible. It was so nice to learn about the kind of person Greg was and compare it to the idea that you get in Caught.
I loved this book!! I loved Greg even more in this book than I did in Caught. He was a great person. He cared for everyone and all he wanted was for his friends to be happy! He also wanted his own HEA, but we all know how that went.
The ending of this book gutted me worse than reading what happened in Caught.
I really hope that we will be getting more for AE Woodward and Erika Ashby!!!
Oh man, reading this and loving him even more than I already do was difficult. Reading this was torture knowing what happens at the end.
I just. It's so sad.
PS - there are still verb tense issues in this book. It's not as bad as Caught. A better editor is much needed ladies. You aren't getting what you paid for, at all.
OMG! Seriously! I should have known it would end like this! Ughhh Now what? How long do we wait for book 2? Goshhhh, it's a great book, but the ending, really?!
Greg, I loooved his character while I was reading Caught! I knew how Greg’s story ends so I knew what I was getting myself into! Let me just say though, I am left heartbroken. I stared at the wall for idk how long, then cried after I processed the ending lol!
I loved how I got to know him more but extremely sad how it all ended!
