After the hesitant start with the first book, I am really glad that I have continued with this series. I will say that they are pretty formulaic and you can guess what is going to happen (not in precise detail but a general outline) plot wise, but that isn't a bad thing when you really like the books.

Of all the couples so far, I think that Jake and Nick are my favourites. I enjoyed how their story progressed, their ups and down and the way Jake guided Nick through discovering his sexual submissive side and how that could still align with the fact that outside of sex, he is a total alpha male (he is a SEAL for goodness sake!). And the sex and play between Jake and Nick was so hot and steamy - I want much more of these two!

Overall, a great story that I really enjoyed reading. 5 stars.

Review by The Blogger Girls.

This is book 4 of the series, but I started with it, as the other stories are all M/F. The author does a great job of getting the reader up to speed on who all of the other characters are, and I think this could easily be read on its own.

Nick is the youngest brother of the guys who run Trident Security, who also happen to be doms with their significant other subs. Nick is a Navy SEAL who is visiting the brothers while on vacation leave. He isn’t into the BDSM scene, though he does visit the club now and then. He has hopes of hooking up again with Jake, one of Trident’s operatives and with whom he hooked up on his last visit.

Unfortunately, Jake has some issues that cause him to push Nick away, so he is a dick throughout much of the beginning of this story. He makes it clear there will not be another hookup and is pretty blatant about it. But, Nick isn’t an easy pushover, and he makes it a point to change Jake’s mind.

In the meantime, Jake and the team are pulled into a case when a girl from Jake’s past calls for help. He had helped her escape her abusive father but hasn’t had contact since she basically went into the equivalent of witness protection. Nick opts to help since he’s in town anyway, and they then try to uncover evidence against the father while taking care of keeping the girl safe.

I really enjoyed this. Jake and Nick were great together. Nick’s newness to the BDSM stuff was done very well, and everyone makes sure they are both on the same playing field. They have great chemistry, and it shows in the bedroom and out. Nick holds his own and never backs down. Those are just a few of the reasons I loved this book and why I don’t often read M/F anymore. The author did a great job with each aspect, and even tempted me to pick up the other books in this series. There are definitely more characters I would like to read more about.

When I tell you I thought this was omegaverse? And it wasn't? LOL ugh. Never mind.... I read too many critical reviews to continue it. But really, if you thought Omegaverse type Alpha because of that title? No... as far as I could tell it's basically "oh I'm a big tough man" type Alpha. 🙄

And if anyone has finished it and I'm wrong and it is omegaverse, feel free to drop me a comment below! I bailed pretty early on.

I’m on the fence with this one

While the story wasn’t OTT, I just didn’t click well with both MCs at all and their chemistry was just not it and top it off with a grown ass man being called “kid” by his lover it was just so cringy. I thought I’d warm up to them but it didn’t work for me.

This is the first time I’m reading a book by the author and I like her writing style so much and I also like that she didn’t drag the story it was straight to the point I’d rate her writing 5 stars I just didn’t like the lack of chemistry and also there wasn’t any romance at all, there wasn’t any warmth at all

Topping the Alpha (Trident Security Book 4)
Samantha Cole
5 stars of six pack “toppings”

So … ladies we are back in Tampa and we finally are getting the good on Nick Sawyer, the youngest of the Sawyer clan. Now Samantha is a tease … from the word go she puts us in a hotel room with Nick. And then … yeah, no you aren’t getting that from me. But, we do know this is Nicky-boy and The Reverend’s story. If you don’t know who that is then you need to go back and learn your Trident Security men.

Before we move on though, we need to address the two very serious subjects that are deep seeded throughout the pages of this phenomenal book. Two absolutely miraculous characters come full force at you throwing everything they have into burying scars at the hands of bigotry and sexual abuse. Both are crimes I cannot tolerate which made this read a long awaited one with gleeful squeals but also emotional torment pouring from the heart. I had no idea of the scars this character was hiding.

As we continue to flip the pages we find out that Nick is headed to Tampa on a four week leave instead of heading home to Norfolk VA to see his parents. The twenty five year old just hoped that things would go smoothly during his visit; especially with the thirty four year old SEAL his head wouldn’t let him forget. Finding Jake Donovan standing at the baggage terminal, Jake’s name should be Master Dick rather than Master Jake. WTF! Knife Hands to Jake’s throat ladies. And so it begins.
Jake knows he is a complete ass to Nick but it’s what has to be done. There is too much at stake if things don’t pan out and Jake’s life will never be an open book either so what’s done is done.

As in all of our Trident men’s stories there is a love story that is exceptional. Topping the Alpha is filled with suffering, brutal memories and survival. On the flip side we have the suspense, crime lords, stealth moving Trident men … and wait for it … T. Carter. YES! He’s bacccckkkkk! I will tell you my excitement was evident at the mention of Beau as well. Im a sucker for a four legged boy.

The men are thrown into Jake’s past in one phone call -- a mother and daughter that Jake shouldn’t be hearing from ever again. Alyssa Wagner is in trouble. Jake hasn’t heard from the sweet girl since he helped her and her mother about a year ago. Alyssa sounds scared out of her mind and Jake needs to get there as quick as he can in order to keep her safe from the monster he saved them from once before.

We are introduced to some new men (yay) and a new woman (boo); Jordyan .. ok so yes she is a badass and we all know I love me some badass women but I will shank a bitch. She needs to stay away from my U.S. Black Operative. Im just sayin … Then there are two new operatives; Tristan McCabe who is former Secret Service and Cain Foster, former Delta Force. We meet the two men during their training running the Navy SEAL’s O-Course with Nick. This is a great scene .. I hope we hear more about this down the road as Nick deserves his bragging rights gunning down his brother Devil Dog’s record. Fist bump Nicky; hell yeah! The banter between the boys is back in full force of course with their ladies in tow. This family along with their parents is one we all want to belong to. The men are dropping like flies so if you want to snatch one up you better get in there but you need to keep the skanky mitts off Carter. He’s claimed by yours truly.

As the story plays out you will learn things you wish you didn’t know about the past but they also will make you love these men and the Trident family more than you did before. There is also a huge surprise in the Epilogue and its really good because it can only mean more reading in our future.

Samantha has left us another “boom bang” with a short preview from Marco “Polo” DeAngelis’s story; Watching From The Shadows. Sorry ladies .. we have to wait until 2016 for this one. I will wait .. and not like it but I will wait. It’s the Trident Men .. what else are you going to do?

Thank you Samantha for the ARC and for the once again full monty of sexy six packers. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Okay, if you like cookie cutter

Been done better by better M/M authors. Stereotype military style characters and BDSM. No passion in the sex and could not connect with the characters. Absurd plot line for the ostensible "action" scene. I'm sure all the 5 stars are from the authors m/f fans, but I'd bet those stories are the same formula. And get an editor or proofreader. It's "hollowed" cheeks during a BJ, not "hallowed". Something is "alluded" to, not eluded. And its "discreet", not "discrete" in the context used.

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, will Samantha Cole ever not hit the nail on the head? Yet another fantastic Trident Security story, this time focusing on Jake and Nick. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this is not her normal hot alpha saves young heroine... Oh hang on, yes it is, but with a different perspective.

Nick has returned to his brother's at Trident Security while on leave for some R&R from the SEALS. But it is the presence of Jake Donovan that has his heart and stomach fluttering with memories of their night together 2 months earlier. For Jake, his tryst with Nick was a one night thing, that's it... Ha, yeah right, when will these Alpha men finally get it, these women and men bring the Trident men to their knees... and Jake is no exception. He tries with all his might to push Nick away, but sometimes things are just meant to be, and if Nick can take and put up with Jake's ass-hollery, well there's gotta be something special there.

Jake's past is not pretty, and a call from a teenage girl that has just seen her mother murdered brings demons to the surface, and now forced to work together with Nick they track down and find Alyssa and put her in the Trident safe house. During this time Jake and Nick take things a little further, and with a hot bush encounter they make the decision to enter into a Dom/ sub relationship. This will be a test for both of these alpha men. Realising Nick really is a submissive, he opens to a world of BDSM with the only man he wants, but 1st he must come out of the closet to his family.... Ian and Dev, owners of Trident Security are Doms themselves and are about as alpha as they come, but their reaction to Nick's news surprised me.

Now with his own coming out demons, Jake must show a brave face with Nick. But can they find their happy ever after together, and save the girl too? I'm not telling, you must read this story.

With so much story between Jake and Nick, I almost forgot the other main chapter of this book. Alyssa is hell bent on taking out her father, the man that sexually abused her physically abused her mother... Safe houses, body guards (with names like Tiny), and the Trident men won't stop her. Revenge is what she wants, but while trying to do that she puts another person in danger.

This was my 1st ever gay romance, and although I was a little stand offish at first, I'm happy to say if they are all written as well as Ms Cole's it certainly will not be my last. I'm now anxiously waiting for Marco's story.

Yet again, another great Samantha Cole story. She really knows how to get a reader's attention and keep it from start 'till end.

This time, we get a closer look into Jake Donovan's life and his ghosts from the past. When the youngest of the Sawyer brothers is in town with a 4 week leaf from the Seals, the attraction between both men is undeniable. While Nick doesn't understand his submissive feelings and tries to give them a place in order to make this relationship work, Jake has a whole other kind of history hunting his mind. His feelings for Nick are that strong, he is, after many years, ready to deal with his past and leave it behind him. The question is, is he strong enough to face his fears.
Alyssa is a 17-year old girl from a case Jake worked on last year. The case started as a runaway teenager, until Jake found out she was abused and molested by her father. He helped her and her mother escape and disappear. Now it seems her father found them and had her mother killed and a price over her death body. The Trident Security men do all they can to keep Alyssa save and have her father in jail.

As I already said, another amazing story. Some points in the book had me really hooked, wanted to read faster as my eyes could follow. The humor, the tension, the swearing, it all fits perfectly in the story. How both men deal with their feelings and the insights in the beauties of the BDSM lifestyle, all just written perfectly.

Only thing I missed in this book, was a little bit more of gorgeous T. Carter and his sarcastic tone of voice.

If you don't like Samantha Cole's Trident Security books, than you better stop reading BDSM and suspense novels, because it only means this type of reading is not your type of reading. She does a perfect job!

" Topping the Alpha" is the fourth book in the Trident security series, one I somehow skipped.
However once again, the pages fly by , I fall in ove with the couple and am so happy that our Reverend is finally going to be a happy man.
Jake " Reverend" Donavan, was a member of Seal team four and now a member of the Sawyer brothers Trident Security team and Dom in their BDSM club, mouth Jakedoes not do relationships and when he does it is rare, but a night of giving into his desire a month ago after Devon Sawyers wedding is now coming home to roost for four weeks. Ian and Devin's hanger brother Nick has accrued time of from his seal team and is taking it and spending the time in Tampa with his brothers.
Nick coming to Tampa has Jake looking for ways to avoid him but of course his boss Ian just has to make it unknowingly hard for Jake by sending him to meet Nick at the airport. Jake may have had the best night of his life with Nick last month ,but he knows with his past having anything wth Nick is not a good idea , never mind Nick s his Bses little brother.
Jake may have a lost of reasons not to try for something real with Nick , but Nick is not willing to take any Jo's for answers , even if it means he has to be Jakes submissive .
These two light up the pages, all while trying to protect around girl Alyssia , from her sexually abusive father and bring the scum to justice without Alyissa having to testify.
The suspense, plot line twists and turns and the sweet romance blooming has the pages flying by and all too soon reading an epilogue.
As always an ncredibpe read form Samantha Cole and one i hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Arc was previously supplied by author for an honest review, my apologies for it slipping through the cracks!

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

This is book 4 in the Trident Security series and the first one that is MM. Apart from a few references to past events and not knowing how all the other couples got together it reads easily as a standalone. Trident Security is a family business that is run by Nick’s two older brothers Dev and Ian. As well as the security business they also own an exclusive BDSM club.

Nick Sawyer is a Navy SEAL and is home visiting his brothers for a month. The main thing on his wish list for this trip is to spend some time with Jake, a Trident employee, who he got together with on his last visit. Jake has been taking up a lot of Nick’s thoughts recently so the cold shoulder and asshole behaviour he gets from the man when he arrives is not quite what he expected.

Jake Donovan is a man with a past that he hasn’t moved on from. His father was a bigot and a bully and as soon as he was eighteen he signed up and got away but sadly the damage was already done. He’s a well-respected Dom who is sought out by the club’s subs and this lifestyle suits him perfectly – he won’t allow himself to get close to anyone and he certainly won’t be falling in love like all his friends seem to be, even if it is something he yearns for.

Whilst Jake and Nick try to navigate what they mean to each other a young girl from a previous case is once again in danger and the Trident team put all their efforts into keeping her alive. Now working together the two men really get to know each other without being able to use sex and it’s interesting to see how well they get on when not in bed.

Inside the bedroom they are on fire! Being a Dom is part of who Jake is and he needs his lover to submit to him. Nick is naturally submissive in bed, something that surprises him at first but also something he’s uncomfortable with in front of other people at the club. Outside of the bedroom the men aren’t in a D/s relationship and Jake is always very respectful of Nick’s feelings and fears.

Samantha Cole is a new author to me and one I certainly enjoyed and will be looking out for again.

Nayeli - per RFS
.

Ti chiamerò come voglio.

— Lo so.

This is my first book in this series, but it didn't hinder the story not having read the first three. Jake is all alpha and works for Nick's brothers at Trident Security.

Nick has been away on a mission and is home for a visit and to attend a wedding when he hooks up with his fantasy man Jake. Completely unexpected on both of their parts I believe.

Nick is on leave and comes to stay with the family for awhile, hoping to pursue the relationship that started at the wedding. Things don't always go as planned.

An old case of Jake's resurfaces and he throws himself into helping a young girl. Nick offers to help.

Nick's brothers also own a BDSM club that he has never taken much interest in but he is suddenly looking at it in a different light. Nick has always thought himself to be more dominant but is enlightened to the submissive side of a relationship.

M/M is not my usual genre but I enjoyed this book. I love a strong alpha in any form and Samantha certainly delivers. The story is a page turner of suspense with Trident trying to keep the young girl safe. The underlying sexual tension adds a bit of angst and at times humor.
There is a range of supporting characters which were wonderfully entertaining.

I would recommend this book to lovers of romance, suspense and M/M relationships.

I received a copy for an honest review.

This is book # 4 in the Trident Security series. I recommend reading this series in order, since it will help with reader enjoyment and understanding. I am certain this story can be read on its own - but if you can make it better, why not?

Nick meeting Jake was inevitable. Jake works with his brothers at Trident Security. Nick had just been home on leave when he had been out of town or on assignment. Jake and Nick getting together at Nick's brothers wedding....now that was unexpected.

Jake cannot seem to stay away from him. Nick consumes his thoughts and dreams. He is not in a place where he feels he can plan for the future, much less have one.

Nick, on the other hand, not only wants a relationship with Jake - he fights to have it. He knows how rare these feelings are and he has never had them for anyone else. Jake is all he can think about right now.

This story was so good I could NOT put it down! I was so excited to read it and loved every page. The suspense was good, the sexy times were steamy and the story overall made me laugh and cry. I found this book to be just what I hoped for. I cannot wait for the next installment in this fantastic series!

5 stars. Oh how you spoil us 2 hot alphas for the price of one! This is the fourth book in the Trident series and it's Jake ' The Reverand' Donovan's turn to find his true love. Nick Sawyer is Ian and Devon's baby brother and a navy SEAL on leave and comes to visit. Jake has done his best to avoid Nick after their one night after Devon and Kristen's wedding. Throw in a teenage girl (who Jake had previously helped) in danger and you have a fast paced story of a couple who both have to face their demons to get what they want while doing what they do best and protect an innocent with their lives. Highly recommended read.

The tops

Okay had mixed feelings going into this book. While not a homophobic I still am not comfortable with a M/M relationship. Jake works with the Trident guys and has secrets that prevent him from falling in love. Nick is the youngest of the Sawyer brothers and has never told his family he is gay. Him an f2f Jake hook up for one night, that neither can forget. Jake fights his attraction to Nick when he comes to visit. Meanwhile Jake is drawn into helping a young lady get her life back. Can Nick convince Jake to take a chance, will Nick's family still acc him when he comes out. Read the book.

I should have read the previous novels first. The story is all right and the narration well done. It's just, all those characters. Everybody mentioned is getting a whole paragraph what happened before. And a lot of people are mentioned. A lot have their own point of view too. Add to this the constant mentioning and explanations of storylines from the past, and I am lost. What plot line am I supposed to remember?

I read this as a standalone knowing this part of a series 🤞which it can be.
A good book to enjoy and easy to read.
Nick 25 (a military SEAL) was in the hots for Jake as scenes continued after a collaring ceremony at the bdsm club and deep in the closet.
Jake 34 aka Reverend was a retired Military Seal, and a Dom Master.
Two months prior they'd hookup and now they were meeting once again which wasn't off to a good start. Jake was mean to Nick.
They definitely have a lot of 🔥🔥heat zipping between them just waiting to ignite. Both are hiding what they feel and they want more but stop themselves.
I loved when Nick puts the 5 top reasons to Jake, I could feel the emotions coming through in their decision. Nick didn't know anything about being a submissive but he wanted a shot with Jake.
Includes abuses in years, dangers, and sexy scenes with pushing boundaries and a whole lot more.

Once it got going it felt like another book I'd read recently but couldn't place it, as being a regular military theme.
Jake gets a phone call from a scared girl who they'd known was in a bad situation and need rescuing. Scenes play out and the rescue turned late a full mission involving the ATF. The BDSM scenes are fantastic for any readers whod never read the theme book before.
Dramatic scenes for the ending and all ends well for their HEA finish.
Includes both povs for their story.

Jake Donovan & Nick Sawyer

The best of the series so far. I loved these two together. Their chemistry was fire from the very first scene, which made every scene with them together explosive (especially the sex scenes).

I'm not sure I've said this while reviewing the books that proceeded this, but this author does a really good job of explaining the BDSM lifestyle in her books.

Anyway, this packed a lot of punch. Action, hot sex, emotion, hot sex, hot sex, hot sex.

My favorite thing about this was the Nick decided to fight for the right to be with Jake, and once the decision was made he didn't wasted time making Jake see things his way. There were still obstacles considering that Nick doesn't participate in the lifestyle, and he's always been sexually dominate, but those things were handled well and in a believable way.

M/M is not what I normally go for, but if it's in the middle of a series by an author I like, I'll read it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. In the past m/m books I've read, there's been tons of sex, kind of overdoing it. There was a perfect balance in this book. Although the beginning of the relationship seemed a little rushed, it evened out and did not distract.
I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Hot!!! This is one of my favorite MM story. Jake and Nick are so good together. Nick is the youngest of the Sawyer brothers and has never told his family he is gay. While Jake is an ex-Navy Seal and is apart of the Sexy Six Pack. This story is hot, steamy, and sexy. This is book four of The Trident Series. It's a MUST READ!! Definitely worth having this series. You won't be disappointed in this series. I can't wait for the next book in this series. Keep up the amazing job Samantha!!

We get Jake's story in this book. Jake is attracted to Nick Sawyer, the baby brother of his boss. He and Nick hooked up once and Jake is determined is won't happen again. Nick is just as determined it will.

Nick is on leave from his Navy Seal Team and volunteers to be backup for Jake on a job to help a young girl. Will Jake get his HEA. Read this book to find out!

They seem to be doing a lot of nights out and time together when they are trying to save the girl. But other than that, I like Jake and Nick a couple.

I'd been seeing this book advertised for a while now and finally picked it up to read. I knew I was coming into the middle a series and hoped the author would do a good job of giving us background. I can happily say that yes, the author did a good job of this, except the cast of characters is quite large, so hopefully the reader can keep them all straight.

The book started slow and jumbled, but I stuck it out and glad I did. Once the "action" started, I found it hard to put the book done. I wasn't too keen on how quickly the BDSM escalated from simple bondage to bullwhipping. Whether or not Nick could handle it, the D/s relationship just moved way to fast for me. For a long time Dom, Jake knew he should be taking things slower and than chose not too. Hmm.

Anyway, M/M readers of military action should like this, but be prepared to bite your tongue just a bit.
