Part-time student, full-time Soul Reaper, Ichigo is one of the chosen few guardians of the afterlife.
Ichigo Kurosaki never asked for the ability to see ghosts--he was born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow--a malevolent lost soul--Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace. Find out why Tite Kubo's Bleach has become an international manga smash-hit!
The battle for Karakura Town rages on! Captain General Yamamoto has joined the fight, and with his formidable powers added to the fray, Ichigo might have a chance to beat Aizen. But in order to ready himself for the final confrontation, Ichigo decides to undergo intense training with his father. It will give him the edge to face-off against Aizen, but when the dust clears, what will be left of life as he knows it...?
Noriaki Kubo, known professionally as Tite Kubo ( 久保帯人), is a Japanese manga artist and character designer. His manga series Bleach (2001–2016) had over 130 million copies in circulation as of 2022.
I just started rewatching the anime a few days ago, and reading this at the same time that I just saw Aizen show up for the first time in the anime is a total trip. And by rewatching I mean catching up to where I left off because I never actually finished this arc, and what a journey and story Tite Kubo has created!
One of my goals for 2026 will be to finish this manga (and try to catch up to the anime), this is such a visual story, you just gotta watch it! (will be skipping the endless filler content, however, most of it was bad enough the first time around)
The end of the Arrancar arc! Sosuke Aizen had reached his evolutionary of ladder and enters the real Karakura Town. Meanwhile, Ichigo and his father are in Dangai, Ichigo finally learns the final Getsuga Tensho move! As the battle comes to a close, Ichigo will do any thing to save his friends... even losing his Soul Reaper powers. This arc ends with a little satisfaction, in a way appropriate for this arc. I don't think that its bad, just that thr series should have ended here instead. But there's a next volume to this one. On towards a new arc.
This was a good 3 in 1. All volumes were interesting.
LIGHT SPOILERS: I, obviously, particularly liked: - the spirit of the initial fight between Ichigo and Aizen - how Ichigo matured with his father's help - how Urahara saved the day (even if it is said that he stole Ichigo's thunder) - Ichigo won, but only Urahara could trap Aizen permanently - how sad it is that Ichigo ended up losing his powers :(
Insane resolution to the whole Bleach Saga so far, it could have honestly ended here. With Ichigo achieving the require pawer last second, as usual, we are able to experience the end of the Arrancars. I don't know how you move forward after this while keeping the story interesting, but I am curious about the future.
Sometimes when I read Bleach, it feels like the narration dwells too long on some parts and is missing in other parts. That holds true in this volume, but it's not close to deterring my love for the battle of fake Karakura Town and the conclusion of this arc. So well done and so satisfying.
...ok yay we won. Sadness about ichigos powers. But 2 questions: What the fuck do the next 20-some-odd vols cover?!? And when do we learn isshins backstory?
