A man is found in a dumpster with his throat slit...and his hair perfect. Was he murdered at his favorite salon? If so, how was his body smuggled out? Only his hairdresser knows for sure until Rachel's parents team up to solve the case!
Then, Harley Hartwell and Richard Moore find themselves chasing the same murderer, a killer who leaves a centipede at the scene of each crime. Just as the two rival sleuths are ready to square off against each other, an unexpected third detective joins the hunt...
Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
- Akai was shot. His car and body were burned. - Some chapters about a murderer of famous wrestler by beautician. Eric Kisaki was there.! - Chapters about Furinkazen Case. 風,山,森, 火. "As swift as wind, as gentle as forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakable as mountain."
Kansuke Yamato's first appearance!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
1. This volume starts with uncovering more about Handou (being in the CIA) and how Eisuke-kun is headed to the hospital (that Mizunashi Rena resides in) so action starts from there.
2. We see more of Akai-kun which we know how calm and collected he is, and also melting my heart too.
3. I start legit worrying when Mizunashi Rena regains consciousness
4. When they starting sending patients and planting bombs in the hospital I was like “can this get any worse??” And yes it can since they planted little cells to detect whereabouts!
5. I love Akai-kun and Conan’s teamwork💪✨
6. Okay let me just analyse Akai-kun’s past since I just *sniff* can’t handle this. I mean Haibara’s big sis (who died at the beginning of the manga) was his girlfriend, they were gonna like date and have a future I’m just heartbroken!!!! Just perfect fictional character material.
7. Vermouth is ahead of the game; she knows about shinchi 😧
8. OKAY SOMEONE TELL ME WHAts the relationship between Mizanushi Rena and Eisuke-kun????
9. It was responsible of Akai-kun to reject Conan’s ideas about bringing dr.agasa’s car, he was all like “won’t let innocent citizen get involved; this is our job”
10. And that guy who PUSHED JODIE SAN!??? Like wtfff???
11. So let me say that the black Org is like good teamwork and Gin is handsome 😎
All in all, first time to have 10 chapters for one arc, ONE CRUCIAL TO THE PLOT, so🙌!! Happy as ever.
Question: will Conan tell haibara about Akai-kun being with her sister? Or will he tell Akai-kun about his girlfriend’s sister?
The Syndicate storyline from last volume comes to a conclusion with these pages. The first full story of this volume involves a hairdresser murder! I like the format of the story, where we already know who the killer is and simply need to watch and see the reveal of how it was done and why. Detective Conan is on the case and quickly figures out the murderer. The way the story opens up, is both fun and refreshing. Not that this is the first time a story has been done like this, but it is the most recent. Next up we have Harley and Detective Moore chasing after the same killer! They seem to be dropping a centipede in the blood of the victim after they finish the act of killing. This seems to be some sort of a calling card…..or is it? The final case of this volume deals with Detective Conan, Rachel, Eisuke Hondo and Serena. A chance encounter of them at the bookstore leads to hanging out that evening…and stumbling onto a murder that closes out volume 59 on this long running manga!
Someone is killed and Eri is tricked into being an alibi for the murderer. A big case in a small town is uncovered where many people are killed. However there seems to be a pattern. Lastly someone follows Ran, Sonoko, Eisuke and Conan and suddenly gets killed.
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume: Edogawa Conan, main protagonist (and the shrunk form of Shinichi) Mouri Ran, main protagonist & love interest of Shinichi Mouri Kogoro, detective & Ran's father Professor Agasa Hiroshi, inventor & long time friend to the Kudo family "Criminal" silhouette Haibara Ai, shrunk form of Miyano Shiho, former member of the Black Organization Suzuki Sonoko, Ran's best friend & fellow classmate of Shinichi's Hattori Heiji , high school detective - self proclaimed "Detective of the West" Toyama Kazuha, childhood friend of Heiji & romance interest Hondō Eisuke, a new transfer student at Ran, Sonoko & Shinichi's high school

Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
Quick recap: When teen genius detective Shin’ichi Kudou (Jimmy Kudo in the American edition) is targeted by a mysterious criminal organization, the experimental poison used shrinks him to child size rather than killing him. Assuming the identity of Conan Edogawa, the pint-sized sleuth moves in with incompetent private eye Kogoro Mouri (Richard Moore) and his daughter Ran (Rachel), who is Shin’ichi’s love interest. Now Conan solves mysteries, but must be more clever in how he lets the police know whodunit, as his true identity and capabilities must remain secret.
In the volume to hand, #59, the Rena Mizunashi subplot has a shocking conclusion…at least for now. The Black Organization seems to be fooled, but for how long and at what cost?
Then Kogoro’s ex-wife Eri (Eva) keeps an appointment at the hairdresser’s, only to have the beautician’s ex-boyfriend turn up dead nearby. Conan must break a seemingly perfect alibi. There’s another near-miss for Eri and Kogoro getting back together.
The “Centipede” case follows, as two families’ sons are murdered in bizarre fashion, each with a centipede dropped near the corpse. The parents initially suspect each other due to a long-standing feud, and Kogoro and Osakan teen detective Heiji (Harley) are called in on opposite sides. Heiji and Conan quickly ally as more murders happen according to a pattern inspired by famous samurai Lord Shingen and his battle motto, “Fuurinkazan.”
This case also introduces a new police character, Kansuke Yamato of Nagano. He’s crippled and scarred from an avalanche, which has the advantage of making him very distinctive and unlikely to be confused with the many other cops in this series. He independently works out the identity of the killer, but the younger detectives are still very useful.
The volume concludes with Eisuke, Rena’s brother, returning to school and being talked into a karaoke party. Conan spots an FBI agent tailing Eisuke, but when the agent then turns up dead, is Eisuke the killer, or is it the Black Organization…or someone with no connection to that case? You’ll need to wait for the next volume to find out!
As always, the art is decent, and the writing fun. I really appreciated that the new police detective was competent and didn’t need to be handheld by Conan as so many of the others do. The only real flaw is that the first chapter depends so heavily on previous knowledge of the Rena subplot that it’s likely to be confusing to someone who picked up the book randomly.
The U.S. release is still years behind Japan, so it may be a while before we learn the next parts of the subplots.
THE BARBER’S ALIBI AND THE MURDER FROM ABOVE What begins as a routine evening for Eri Kisaki takes a deadly turn when Kogoro discovers a corpse at a garbage collection point. Suspicion falls on Eri’s barber, as Conan pieces together a crucial clue—the victim was murdered mid-haircut, with strands of hair found in the blood. The barber's alibi seems solid, yet Conan’s keen observation of the salon’s location above the disposal site suggests a chilling possibility: was the body discarded from above?
THE CURSE OF THE CENTIPEDE MURDERS Two feuding families, two victims left to die, and a sinister symbol—a dead centipede beside each body. As Kogoro and Heiji are separately hired to investigate the tragedies, they uncover a dark past linking the deaths to an officer’s mysterious demise six years prior. The case takes an eerie turn when a woman is found hanged after Ran and Kazuha glimpsing the ghostly armor of Takeda Shingen. With the killer seemingly following the ancient "Furinkazan" war doctrine, Conan and Heiji predict the next death will be by fire—only to realize their worst fears have come true when another victim is engulfed in flames near a railway track.
hayah.............kok jadi gini ceritanya waduh piye....... tetap seru melihat kelakuan si detektif tidur apalagi jika berurusan sama si pengacara Kisaki gimana yah hubungan mereka dulu, apa seheboh sekarang
trus, conan a.k.a shinichi kudo ketemu lagi ama heiji hatori, mereka sama2 mecahin kasus pembunuhan berantai yang terjadi di antara 2 keluarga yang musuhan
